🎃 Halloween Pet Safety Tips! 🎃

Keep your furry friends safe and stress-free this Halloween with these essential tips:

👻 Watch the Treats – Candy is for kids, not pets! Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free gum), and other ingredients are toxic to pets. Store candy bowls out of reach, and remind any little trick-or-treaters to keep their treats to themselves!

🕯️ Decorate Carefully – Candles, pumpkins, and spooky decor can be a hazard. Keep lit candles and glow sticks out of paw’s reach to avoid accidental burns, spills, or breakage.

🍬 Costume Caution – If your pet is dressing up, make sure the costume fits comfortably, doesn’t limit movement, vision, or breathing, and doesn’t have small pieces they could chew or swallow.

🎉 Reduce the Spook Factor – Strangers at the door can stress out pets. Keep them secure in a quiet room away from the door to prevent any unexpected escapes or anxiety.

👀 ID & Microchip – With the door opening often, a curious pet might slip out. Make sure their ID tags and microchip information are up-to-date, just in case.

📣 New Pet Friend 📣

Meet Foxy the axolotl! But what the heck is an axolotl anyway?? The axolotl is a salamander that is native to Mexico and endangered in the wild, but is growing more and more popular as an aquarium pet. Axolotls are unusual among amphibians because they don't undergo metamorphosis and have amazing regenerative abilities.

📣 NEW PET FRIEND 📣

🐶🐾 Meet Lina the Corgi! She's happy, spunky, floofy, and fun. We were long-time caregivers for her sister and brother who passed recently, but we're so happy to see her come into the picture to ease our broken hearts. She's learning how to dog and already listens well despite being so curious. We're looking forward to making lots of memories with this sweet girl. ❤️

We had so much fun at Paws 🐾 and Pumpkins 🎃 on Tuesday evening! Thanks to Northside Social for inviting us. It was great to hang with our friends: Muddy Waters Studio, Less is More Lawrence & Art Of The Groom and raise money 💰 for Lawrence Humane Society !!! There were so many great dog costumes that entered the contest. 🐶🤎👻💀

Ben and I tag teamed a quick potty out on Saturday with Jack and Charlie. The sun was shining ✨️ 💛 🌞 and we had a lot of fun playing in the yard. Charlie knows no stranger, and Jack takes a minute to warm up, but I was giving pets and getting kisses 💋😘 in no time! 🐾🐶

Headed back home to Lawrence after an inspiring weekend Pet Sitters International pet sitter educational conference. We met so many other wonderful pet-care professionals from all over the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

More info to come on certifications, classes, and techniques, but we're happy to be returning to our own pets and our Lawrence Pet Friends 🐾🐶😻❤️

We've done the online course, but there's just something different learning it straight from the instructor with decades of experience!

The Berczy Park dog fountain ⛲️ was a pet lovers dream! The fountain’s three tiers include sculptures of beloved pooches, including a Great Dane puppy, a Bernese Mountain Dog, a giant Schnauzer, a West Highland Terrier, and 1 cat. 😻🐶🐾

🐾Owners of Lawrence Pet Friends Sheree and Ben here! We'll be traveling 9/15-9/22 to attend the Pet Sitters International yearly Pet Sitter Educational Conference for the first time. We're getting in-person Pet First Aid & CPR certified, as well as attending all kinds of informational panels with animal experts from around the world.

Our amazing on-call and pet sitter staff will be running the show here in Lawrence, and of course we'll be doing all the normal admin work so feel free to contact us to get set up as a new client, make reservations, and communicate as needed.

We look forward to making amazing connections and bringing back some wonderful insight to help LPF continue to be the best team for pet care in Lawrence!

Great job to our heros & friends Lawrence Humane Society on their Clear the Shelter event! They found homes for 131 animals yesterday 😻 Plus 13 dogs whose fees were waived the last two weeks as part of the special, which were also adopted!

BUT they're not done yet!!! The fee-waived adoptions continue today (Sunday, Sept. 8th) and we hope more animals find loving homes! They're open from noon to 6 pm - go see them and check out all the animals available at lawrencehumane.org/adopt! 🐾😻🐶❤️

Today is Clear the Shelter Day!! Join us Lawrence Humane Society starting at 10am to 6pm (or until all our animals are adopted!) All adoptions on this day have their fee-waived, and the goal is to find 175 animals loving homes!

All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Please consider opening your heart and home to a shelter pet!

Saturday, Sept. 7th will be the big day when all animals’ adoption fees are waived at the Lawrence Humane Society for their annual Clear the Shelter Day and we will be there to cheer on all the new pet owners as we work towards the goal of getting 175 animals adopted!!!

Clear the Shelter Day, the annual effort to find furever homes for shelter animals nationwide, is coming up soon — but it's getting an early start this year in Lawrence.
