What a good Monday! πŸ’• It's officially the most wonderful time of the year - our first foaling from a client mare.

This little Hampton filly is an absolute darling, and My Fair Lady aka Eliza (Morricone) is our new favorite broodmare because she was courteous enough to foal at 1pm with no complications. Congrats, Isi!!

Happy International Day of Awesomeness, everybody - may yours be as good as ours! πŸ’•

Only a couple of days are left to bid on the AHS Stallion Service Auction! It's never too early to start planning for breeding season, and there are plenty of very cool stallions available, including our own Fabregas. This is a fabulous opportunity to get a great deal while supporting a great cause!

We are proud to offer this little dynamo on behalf of a client!

Francis Frasch (Fabregas x Wroyal Grace/Widmark) is cute as a button; he is a dynamic mover in a pint-sized package. Standing at 15.1, he will likely stay little enough for small horse divisions, although nobody has a crystal ball! Francis is lightly under saddle and has a really lovely canter. He is very sweet and easy to be around, naturally soft in the hand, and just precious with that symmetrical blaze!

This guy can be on the sensitive side and, for now, will need a quiet rider who is comfortable with young horses and can help his confidence continue to grow. He is only three, after all! That said, he has really started to thrive in our program, and under saddle he has never put a foot wrong; we are sure that in the right hands this special little gelding will truly blossom. Francis would be a lovely horse for a petite rider who really wants to build a bond with their horse and bring along a talented youngster!

HUGE congratulations are due to Winfurst Whinnybell (Widmark x Blair/Beltano), who is 2024's AHS Hartwig Award reserve champion! This award is granted to the three- or four-year-old mare who has the best combined scores from her Studbook Inspection and Mare Performance Test. Whinny was a total dream to start and to have in our program for a while, and it's wonderful to see yet another dynamite Widmark daughter as a recipient of such an honor. πŸ’•

Congrats to breeder Cindy Kidd and all Whinny's connections!

Exciting things are afoot for this foaling season! It's just around the corner. πŸ’• First up will be at the end of March - by Sambuca and out of newly imported Baroness. She is an impressive mare and we cannot wait to see what she produces!

Another little sneak peek of another lovely young mare! Hanalei KFX is one happy-go-lucky gal, not quite backed yet but soon to be! She really seems to love jumping - she's only free jumped once, but she had a great and would make a lovely hunter. She is certainly also a dressage prospect! We expect her to be an easy horse for an amateur or professional to bring along.

Hanalei has not yet been backed but is about ready - take her home to do it your way or leave her here to finish getting started. We're happy to have her!

🟨 The HHSA would like to introduce one of our assessors for the 2025 National Tour: Meg Williams (USA). We look forward to welcoming Meg to Australia early next year 🟨

Meg Williams is a lifelong horsewoman and has been an active member of the AHS (American Hanoverian Society) since 1986. She was appointed to the Mare and Stallion Committee in 2006 and holds numerous positions within the AHS/ARS organization. She has made numerous trips to Germany to increase her knowledge including completing the Breed Orientation Course and attending European Young Horse Championships. She has also undergone an intensive training process, including time in Germany with Hanoverian Verband officials. Meg owns and operates Oakwood Farms in Lawrenceburg, IN where she breeds, trains, and stands two Elite Hanoverian Stallions, Widmark and Fabregas. Oakwood Farm’s current broodmare band represents the most respected Hanoverian bloodlines available and the farm’s breeding program is consistently evaluated in order to produce foals with correct conformation and high rideability. This is evidenced by having numerous Hartwig Memorial Award winners, Bari von Buedingen Memorial Trophy winners, and Gold Medal Foals. Meg has trained multiple horses to the FEI levels in dressage and has earned her USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals, in addition to many USDF and AHS Year-End Awards. She currently competes Elite Stallion Fabregas in dressage.

Sneak peek! πŸ’•

We are honored to have the opportunity to back the lovely Honorine KFX (Herzensdieb/Scolari), bred by our friends at KFX Farms. This darling little mare is smart, sensitive, and kind, a total joy to have around! She has not been sat on yet (although she is getting very close!), so check back for updates - or if you like to start them yourself, send a PM about her or any of our other fabulous prospects. This one stands a perfect 16h and is truly a pleasure to have in the barn!

Because our current part-time girl (who we love very much!) will soon be leaving us to have her baby, we are officially looking for barn help 2 days per week. Responsibilities will include doing stalls in the morning (the number varies, but they are generally not difficult as our horses spend a lot of time outside), feeding, turning horses in and out, tacking, and some cleaning/decobwebbing/projects as needed. We have plenty of horses of all ages and life stages, from broodmares and foals to stallions to our old retired gals - it's a busy barn, but we have an efficient system!

Horse handling experience is appreciated but not required! We are happy to teach anyone who wants to learn. Reliable transportation, the ability to lift at least 50 pounds, and a self-starting, go-getting attitude are absolute necessities. Pay is hourly and we can be flexible on which days you work.

Please call/text Meg at 513-673-3950 or email [email protected] for more information!

Breeding, Raising, Training, and Competing Outstanding Hanoverians

Located on two hundred rolling acres in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the farm is dedicated to breeding and training Hanoverian sport horses for the dressage arena.

Special attention is given to selecting horses for movement and conformation with particular emphasis on rideability and temperament. Matching the best European bloodlines to select American bloodstock, the farms’ breeding program seeks to produce the next generation of sport horses to appeal to the amateur and professional competitor alike.

The training philosophy of the farm is simple: provide a solid foundation for the young horse in order to prepare them for dressage competition into the upper levels. Every care is taken to correctly start the young horse under saddle in order to provide the best experience for them as well as for their riders. They enjoy varied training including extensive hacking on the farm’s beautiful hills and free jumping, all of which imparts in them willingness and confidence. Though we specialize in youngsters, horses and riders of all levels benefit from the classical dressage and cross-training opportunities available here. Meg’s teaching gets nothing but rave reviews, and she has developed several horses from first rides to Grand Prix.

Owner/Trainer Meg Williams has decades of experience starting young horses, and training them along. She is also a USDF Gold Medalist. Oakwood Farms is a leading American Hanoverian breeding farm, standing the imported Elite Hanoverian stallion Widmark. Imported stallion Fabregas arrives at the farm this spring as well and will stand stud here, in addition to bringing Meg back to the show ring. The new year holds many opportunities and exciting possibilities for all of our horses and riders!
