Ok fur family community, we need some help with our little friend Alexis' vet bill. Its
Alexis and her brother David were found by a kind citizen. Abandoned and left to suffer. Their eyes severely infected. The citizen brought them to Animal Control where we quickly transported them to the veterinarian's office. They were diagnosed with severe infection and ruptured eyes. They were prescribed lots of meds and warm compresses several times a day.
One of our very best foster families took them in and began the slow recovery process.
Unfortunately, Alexis didn't respond to treatment and the decision was made to take her eye to save her life.
Alexis is recovering comfortably after her surgery. She must feel so much better after getting that eye out! We can't imagine how painful that was.
Her brother, David, is responding well to the medicines and is anxiously awaiting his sister to get home from the hospital.
They are both the sweetest most playful little balls of fluff! Full of love and mischief!

If you are able to help, please call the Shelter 502-839-6410. Alexis’s vet bill is currently $300.

Director Zach Cotton, along with long time volunteer, Jeri Lynn Carmickle had the pleasure of attending the Stronger Together Retreat, a first of its kind led by Radcliff City Councilwoman, Toshie Singleton Murrell.

75 animal shelter and rescue staff, volunteers, and advocates came together to share ideas, make connections and support one another. Realizing that it takes a village to make the impossible possible.

They heard from various speakers including Kentucky Secretary of State who encouraged the crowd to reach out to their legislators to express concerns and advocate for change.

Everyone left with a positive outlook and some amazing ideas to implement at their own shelters.

It was an uplifting experience and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Little Shelter That Could!

We love the transformations at the shelter! This is Delilah. She and her sister Daffodil were dumped on Willisburg Road a few weeks ago. Delilah was truly neglected and in worse shape than her sister. It just so happened that a kind and caring citizen was driving down the road and spotted them. She knew they desperately needed help and kept them overnight. The next day she took them to the vet. Once the Shelter picked them up from the vet's office, we knew immediately just how much love this girl still has to give! Everyone let’s give Delilah some good luck wishes on her recovery!❤️‍🩹
