“Guess who???
It is I, Jail Dog Alum Luke. My “paw-ents” decided to see my reaction to my dad barking at me. I guess my mom saw it on Facebook and I became the subject of their experiment. My dad usually doesn’t bark so I was a little surprised when he spoke “my language”. This video also means mom has run out of Jail Dog Alumni updates so PLEASE send her your updates to [email protected] or PM them to the FB page.
You could even try this “experiment” with your Jail Dog Alum’s and I am sure mom will share it.
Until then I will continue to hide when mom puts that camera to her face!”

Daisy
Miss Daisy spent some time with a few of our released handlers at Rabbit Hill Park yesterday. We are helping her current family look for a new home for her. Please no derogitory comments, they are looking to do what is best for Daisy and their family. Her current family absolutely adores her and knows that they aren’t able to give her the active home she needs. They were kind enough to bring her out to let the guys work with her.
Daisy is an absolute dream! She has retained her basic obedience commands and would be a fantastic addition to an active family. A fenced yard for this peach of a girl would benefit her activity level and a family that would include her in activities such as hiking, running, etc…
Daisy did well with the dogs she met at the park today and would make a wonderful addition to a family with children 8 years and older. She loves playing with the 3 small children in her home now, but is a bit too energetic for them. For more information about how you can adopt Daisy visit www.jaildogs.org.

***ADOPTED***
These adorable kittens are available for adoption through our rescue partner Society of Humane Friends of Georgia:
Nancy and Little Tom are not biological siblings. They are like night and day personality wise but they have become the best of friends and we would like to place them as a pair. Nancy is a sassy, spirited girl who is always ready for adventure. You have to watch her closely around doors because she’s an escape artist who is always looking for mischief! Little Tom is a fluffy, laidback boy who stays right under your feet, begging to be picked up and cuddled. These two can often be found wrestling on the floor but later they will curl up together for a nap. These little cuties are just so silly and fun. If you are a cat lover you can’t go wrong with these two. You can apply to adopt Nancy and Little Tom at www.SOHFGA.com

Jail Dog Alum Paras, (now Panda) from the Pokémon litter earlier this year has found her way to Desperate Dogs as a client! This sweet girl was very shy when she left the program but her family is making sure she is getting all the socialization she needs to become a well rounded furry family member. Panda is also hanging out with Jail Dog Alum Samantha, AKA “ham sammich”, (the beautiful golden retriever) that calls the DD ranch her home with her fabulous mom Kristen.
Jail Dog Rocky
***ADOPTED***
Finishing what Rocky's first handler started.
This morning you saw a video with Rocky and his very first handler. They worked very well together and accomplished a lot of wonderful training as a team. Today we show off the skill his handler was working on when he left the program earlier this year. This program is all about building on one anothers strengths. From handler to handler each of these dogs become a better pet for an adopter because of the handler before them. Working together for a common goal and helping each other, (dog and human) along the way.
Now we need your help to further our mission with Rocky. He needs a home before December 15th. Rocky will go into a foster home if he isn't found a home by then, but we would love to let him start fresh with a family of his own rather than go from foster home to foster home until a family is found. If you can't adopt then please share this post to help Rocky find his second chance at a new beginning!

Rocky
Although we call him a "wrecking ball" he is so much more than that🤣. For those of you that don't know his story Rocky came to us as a pup after being tied to the door of a church and left. He has been a blur of happiness and contentment ever since he came through our doors. He does have a lot of energy to expel, but he also has one of the biggest hearts. After a fun day of play he loves to sit with his person(s) and enjoy their time together. He is smart, and loves to learn new things. Rocky would do best in a home without small children due to his energy level. He has so much to offer that he would be fantastic as your one and only furry family member because he would love to have you all to himself. We would love to see Rocky get a home for the holidays, as he is quickly approaching the year mark since starting our program. He is more than ready to go!!!

Nala and Tien
Here we have added Nala into the mix with Tien. Nala was adopted from us as a 2-3 month old puppy in October of 2021. She was returned in May of 2023 when her family was no longer able to care for her. At approximately 2 years of age she is a fun and loving girl that just wants to be your everything. She is so happy when she sees someone she knows that her tail wags her whole body. She and her handler have been working extra diligently to get her to the wonderful training status she is at today. This girl loves learning new things and will always be happy to see her people whether it be after a long day of work, or you walked to the mail box and back! Tien is approximately 5-6 years of age and is over the puppy stuff but is still pretty active. He can be a couch potato with the best of them he just needs to be given a chance.
For more information about Nala or Tien visit www.jaildogs.org.
Kaiser and Tien
We wanted you to see another side of our longer term dogs. Most of the time you see them doing their training but there is a gentle side to our dogs that most people don't see. Here you can see Jail Dogs Kaiser, (black and tan) and Jail Dog Tien, (mostly tan) interacting with the guys in the program. They are both such sweet boys that just need a chance at a new beginning. Kaiser has been with us since March of 2022 and Tien since November 2022, WAY TOO LONG for such awesome pups. If you are interested in finding out more either one of these boys visit www.jaildogs.org.
Nala
Jail Dog Nala and her primary handler figuring out the skill of "prance". The skill starts with the simple command of "shake" and then having her switch paws while walking. You will see that he starts with a treat in his hand, but figured out that she does better with the treat while it is in his pocket. Listen how he uses a higher, playful pitch in his voice to get her started and then how he would clap his hands to get her motivated and focused. When they get to the turn around point he should of given her a reward/treat, (he stuck his hand in his pocket so she was waiting) since she is just learning this skill which is why he has a little difficulty in getting her to continue to "prance" once they turn around.
Both of them are doing so well. Nala's handler has come such a long way in this program! He has always been a good puppy handler, but wanted the challenge of an adult dog. As you can see he has definately rose to the challenge and continues to learn more about dog training.
He knows that keeping Nala learning and sharpening his skills not only benefits her, but will help him with the next dog he trains.
We need your help to get Nala's handler to that point by adopting the most wonderful adult girl in our program. As you can see Nala has the training and is eager to learn new things, she just needs a chance with a family of her very own. She is a young girl at 1-2 years of age and believed to be a Boxer mixed breed. For more information about Jail Dog Nala and how you can adopt visit www.jaildogs.org.
Nala
We know this video is a little long, but we wanted to show you how Jail Dog Nala and her primary handler work together as they learn new skills. In the beginning you will see things such as "spin", "figure 8", "about", "heel" and "switchback" which are all things she already knows but at the end of the video they beginning working on her new skill "prance". Watch how Nala watches him for the command and how, at first she is more interested in the treat than doing the skill. Her handler will have subtle changes in how he works with her, (changing the pitch of his voice, putting the treat behind his back, putting the treat in his pocket, etc...). They are both still learning and her handler is trying to figure out how to get Nala to "prance" consistantly while Nala is busy trying to figure out what is being asked of her and how to gain the treat. Deputy McDonald has been working with the both of them on these skills and you will hear her in the background giving the handler ideas of how to make the skill happen.
We will post a video later today to show you how they progressed from this video on the skill "prance".
