Through our generous donors and amazing fosters, ANBAR is able to rescue severe medical cases and provide the assistance necessary for their survival. I'm a sweet boy who loves deeply and can often be found in the bowl of a cat tree. 💙 My brother Fischer is my courage, my comfort, and my built-in best friend. He's got a heart of gold and a very special "chirp." 🏡 We came from a cat colony but we've proven that we'd much rather be indoors and spoiled! She is my anchor, my confidence, and the reason I believe this new life is real. She is also discovering the joys of regular meals, cozy naps, and pets that never run out. Hi, I’m Darth and I would loooove a home with a cat bestie! 😸

I'm trying to be brave... my brother was adopted and even though I'm happy he found a family, I miss him SOOO much that I've been cuddling with my stuffy, which I guess will have to do for now, until I find a new BFF. 🧸💔

I'm looking for someone who will play, explore and nap with me! I'm a curious 4-month-old little guy and I still experience kitten antics like an occasional adorable finger nibble but my foster family always raves about what a good boy I am!

I’d be happiest joining a home with a nice, playful cat who can show me the ropes, the best nap spots and maybe let me curl up and cuddle with them! 😸 I LOVE cats, kids and I'm even good with dogs! As long as they are nice to me, of course! 🐈‍⬛️ 👦 ❤️ 👧 🐕

I also enjoy hanging out near my people once I know they’re mine. I’m not demanding, loud or wild - just a gentle little kitten looking for a place to fit in. 💞

🐾 Meowdy, my name is Goose! I am the sweetest little old gentleman who lives for cozy naps, tasty treats, gentle head scratches and relaxing brush sessions. 😽💋 If you’re searching for a loving, low-key companion, well... hello. I'm your man!

I'm THAT 🐈 who makes it really difficult to get off the couch. Cuddle sessions - the BEST!

I should probably mention that I’m FIV-positive, which just means I need a little extra help keeping my handsome face clean. Sometimes I drool a bit or get a runny nose—I can’t help it! But honestly, keeping a drool rag nearby is a pretty small price to pay for someone as cute as me. I also have a tiny, constant sneeze that makes some people pause… but my foster mama barely notices it anymore and says it just adds to my charm. I’ll take it. 😻

Please don’t let my age or diagnosis scare you off. I may not zoom around or pounce on toys like a kitten, but what I do offer is endless affection. I love curling up in your lap, kneading biscuits while you pet me, and listening intently to every loving word you say. 😹 Just don’t forget the treats—I certainly won’t.

I'm looking for the kind of person who knows a diagnosis doesn’t define a soul. 💞 I’m ready to be someone’s loyal, loving best friend for the rest of our lives. All I need is a cozy spot, a gentle hand to hold my 🐾 and a human to call my own.

Note: FIV sounds scary, but in real life, it usually isn’t.

The Quick Truth

What is it?
FIV is a virus that affects a cat’s immune system—but most cats live normal, full lives.

Symptoms?
Often none at all. Many FIV+ cats never get sick.

Care?
Super basic:
Indoor-only
Regular vet checkups
Treat illnesses early (which you’d do anyway)

Is it contagious?
❌ Not casually.
It’s not spread by sharing bowls, litter boxes, cuddling, or grooming.
It’s mainly spread through deep bite wounds, so indoor, neutered cats = very low risk.

Why adopt one?
They’re just normal cats with terrible PR. The stigma is worse than the condition—and they’re some of the most loving, overlooked cats in rescue.

😼🎉 A Note from ANBAR Furbabies 🎉🐾

Phew! Christmas zoomies have finally settled and we’re fluffing our tails for New Year’s. Because of this very important cat business, there will be NO adoption events tomorrow (Dec 27) or next Saturday, Jan 3rd.

But don’t panic. We’re still very much open for meet-and-greets—just the cozy, behind-the-scenes kind. 😽

Instead of a loud event (rude), you can come right to our homes, meet us in our natural habitats (couches, blankets, windowsills), and—if the vibes are right—adopt us on the spot. No pressure. Okay, maybe a little pressure. We are very cute.

You also have the chance to meet:
🐶 Roo, our legendary 3-legged Pomeranian, who runs the place despite the missing leg.
🐱 Ruby, our sweet declawed girl, who prefers gentle humans, soft voices, and prime nap real estate.

💚❣️ Domino & Darth — Double the Love, Double the Purrs & Just Two Days before Xmas ❣️💚

We are two tiny-but-mighty bonded brothers, best-friends & soulmates hoping to be adopted as a pair, because honestly… life is just better with your favorite sidekick by your side. 😺😸

Here’s the secret parents love:
two kittens are actually easier than one—especially in homes with kids.

Darth & I play together, burn off energy together, comfort each other and learn gentle boundaries through sibling play. Less boredom. Less mischief. More love. 🐾

A New Beginning Animal Rescue believes in transparency, even when it’s uncomfortable — especially when it’s uncomfortable.

Recently, a heartbreaking accident occurred in one of our foster homes. A window was slightly compromised and two feral cats (who we were hoping to tame) escaped. This was not negligence. This was not carelessness. This was a genuine accident involving animals who are, by nature, fearful and unpredictable.

Our foster is absolutely devastated. Anyone who fosters knows the emotional toll — the sleepless nights, the worry, the responsibility you carry for lives that were never meant to trust humans in the first place. This loss has already hit her deeply.

What makes this harder — and unacceptable — is that someone chose to send her cruel, accusatory messages in response. Messages that added shame to grief. Messages that kicked a volunteer while she was already on the ground.

Appropriate steps were immediately taken to locate these sneaky cats and we remain hopeful that they will come back.

Let us be very clear:
We do not tolerate harassment, cruelty, or pile-on behavior toward our fosters. Ever.

Accidents happen in rescue. They always have. Anyone who says otherwise has either never fostered or is being dishonest. Accountability does not mean abuse. Transparency does not invite cruelty.

To send hurtful messages to someone who opened their home, their heart, and their holiday season to animals in need — right before Christmas — says far more about the sender than the situation itself.
We are sharing this not for drama, but for accountability.

For our fosters.
For our volunteers.
For the humans who show up, imperfect but willing, in a world where not enough people do.

Please remember: compassion is not optional here.
If you can’t offer support, choose silence.

Until given a justifiable reason, we stand with our fosters. Always.

🎄 Holiday Miracles Waiting to Happen. 🐾✨

These sweet souls didn’t come from cozy couches or warm windowsills. Leo, Twix and Patches were found in a colony—but they were far too friendly, too trusting, too full of love to be released back outside. So now they’re here, hoping their story changes just in time for Christmas. 💚❄️❤️

😽❣️😽 Leo & Twix are a bonded pair—the real deal. Two hearts, one rhythm. They eat together, nap together and find courage in each other. Separating them would be like splitting a wish in half. Together, they’re gentle, comforting and quietly magical. Adopt them as a duo and you’re not just bringing home cats—you’re keeping a love story intact.

😺 Patches is your independent spirit. Confident, curious and perfectly content on her own… but also the kind of gal who’d be thrilled to have a feline friend. She’s flexible, affectionate and ready to fit into your life—however that looks.

We have four days to change the ending — not for one pair, but for several bonded pairs whose hearts are already spoken for… by each other. ❣️

These cats aren’t just roommates. They are chosen family.
They sleep tangled together like commas in the same sentence.
They groom one another with quiet devotion.
They move through the world as a we, not an I. 🐈‍⬛️❤️🐈

Separating them would mean more than a change of address — it would mean losing the one constant they’ve held onto through everything else that’s changed. 💔

And yet… there is hope here. Real, breathing, soft-pawed hope.
Because bonded pairs don’t ask for more love — they bring it with them. 💞

These furbabies are ready for a human who understands that some loves are not meant to be divided.

Our Story

A New Beginning Animal Rescue (ANBAR) is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit Utah-based organization. Our goal is to thoughtfully reduce unnecessary euthanasia rates; improve Weber and Davis Counties’ animal welfare with compassion and respect through community building and public education on the mutual benefits of responsible pet parenting; and enhance the quality of life of companion animals in need of a new beginning and a forever home. We strive to ensure that each and every animal rescued by ANBAR is cared for; treated with compassion, respect, and dignity. While we are located in the Roy-Layton-Ogden, UT area, we also partner with local and regional groups and accept transfer rescues from throughout northern Utah and the surrounding states. ANBAR does not turn away any companion animals but welcomes them regardless of their condition and do not place a time limit on their stay with us. We believe that euthanasia should be used only as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering – such as when an animal is terminally ill, critically injured, or dying. ANBAR embraces a multi-prong strategic service approach to contribute to reach our goal of reducing the number of adoptable animals euthanized each year. Our services include: *Rehoming and Adoption opportunities and events for ANBAR companion animals *Spay/neuter of ANBAR animals, to effectively reduce the problems of pet overpopulation *Veterinary care for ANBAR animals *Volunteer foster care program to provide housing for rescued or surrendered companion animals, until a qualified forever home is found *Volunteer foster care for special needs animals *Volunteer public education and training programs Rehome and Adoption Opportunities and Events: ANBAR is gratified to have a long-standing special partnership with Petco in holding adoption events every Saturday - without exception - at the Petco store in Layton, UT, since our inception in 2008. Additionally, up to 3 kittens and young cats are displayed at the Petco store for adoption, and rotated weekly to increase visibility and opportunity. Nearly 5,000 companion animals (kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs – and rabbits) have found homes through our adoption events as a result of this joint endeavor.
