sia rates and improve animal welfare through community building and public education on the mutual benefits of spay/neutering your animals and responsible pet ownership. Through our generous donors and amazing fosters, ANBAR is able to rescue severe medical cases and provide the assistance necessary for their survival. We believe that euthanasia should only be used as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering. ANBAR’s ultimate mission is to give every rescue a new beginning.

🐈‍⬛️☕️ 🐶 Sweater Weather is PURRfect for cuddling with your new furbaby!

We will be waiting for you tomorrow at Petco in Layton from 12-4pm so that you can choose one (maybe even two) pets to join your family! 🥰

🤍 Remember, one of the best things about adopting from A New Beginning Animal Rescue is they have all been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered! We did the hard work for you so now, you just get to take them home and love on them! 🤗

Meet Pho Bear! 🐻💛

Pho Bear is a gentle, sensitive 3yr old soul with a quiet charm. He came from a home with lots of other cats, so he would love to have a friendly feline companion in his new home. It might take him a little time to feel comfortable, but once he opens up, he’s an absolute sweetheart who soaks in every bit of love and attention you give him.

He LOVES humans of all ages, other cats and gets along just fine with dogs!

This handsome boy is also quite the talker—he’ll chat with you when he’s ready for pets or just wants to say hello. Pho Bear loves to nap in high places like cat trees, where he can watch the world go by in peace.

He’s fixed, microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated and litter box trained!

Now he’s ready to find his forever family.

My foster mom says I can be quite the athlete—sometimes even plotting ways to keep myself entertained like climbing fences or sneaking off to explore the neighborhood. 🏡 But that's just because I ❤️ people and I want to meet everyone! I need a family who can give me plenty of exercise and keep my clever mind busy. 🐕🧎‍♀️🦴

When I’m not out burning energy, I love to play with my stuffies, chase tennis balls, and splash around at the lake. 🛶🌞🥎 Nothing makes me happier than water, sunshine, and a good game of fetch.

👦 👧 👶 🐈 🐩 I get along great with kids and other dogs, and while my foster cat siblings think I move a little too fast, I truly do love them.

We need a new family and though we've known each other for as long as we can remember, we are not necessarily bonded. 🐾 ❤️ 🐾

💕 I'm Miley (the pretty tabby) a very playful 2-year-old girl who loves to perch atop the tallest cat tree and watch over my 'domain!' I play with toys of all sorts and love to chase the kids with the mouse on a string. 🪶 🧶 I enjoy being pet but am not really much of a snuggler. Although, I do sneak into the bedroom for🌛 nighttime cuddles every now and then. I love boxes 📦 and anything I can get inside of, even if I barely fit. I'm the ultimate example of "If I fits, I sits!" I'm not a big fan of dogs, but will tolerate them if they don't get in my face. I get along great with my "sister" though! 🐈‍⬛️

💓 My name is Luna and I'm a shy 2-year-old sweetheart who will come out of nowhere when you're watching TV 📺 and just plop down in your lap. I love to snuggle with everyone in the home, kids included. I don't want to be picked up, but when I want you, you will know. I'm a very typical lazy lounger and you will find me 💤 sleeping in any place that looks comfy! I love to bask in the sun 🌞 when it comes through the windows at the perfect angle. Now, please don't let this deter you, but I do have a urinary condition that requires me to be on 🥣 prescription urinary food to prevent crystal formation in my bladder. I have been on prescription food supplemented with wet food (non-prescriptjon) and have had no issues for two years. I get along great with other cats, dogs and kids. I don't have a mean bone in my body. 🐕 🐈 👦

It's MEOWNDAY, the PURRfect day to come visit 🩷 Darlene Donna Dianne 🩷 & 💜 Little Miss 💜at Petco in Layton from 9am-9pm.

These sweet girls are our featured habitat 🐈 all week long, or until someone decides to adopt! They do not know eachother so do not need to be adopted together, but if you're feeling adventurous - of course you can adopt them both! We all need a friend, right?!

Both girls are great with other cats, dogs and kids! They are both litter trained, dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped and spayed and have everything they need, except you!!!!

🩷 Darlene Donna Dianne has three names because she is three times a great gal. This sweet 3-year-old lady is as loving as they come. Once a stray, she hasn't let her past dim her friendly spirit - she adores people and will happily rub against your legs (especially when you are preparing her meals!).

She gets along well with other cats, dogs, and respectful older children, making her a great fit for many kinds of homes. What Darlene Donna Dianne really wants is a place where she can be someone's loyal companion - a best buddy to share quiet moments and cozy evenings.

💜 Little Miss, is what they call me! I'm a very friendly, snuggly and playful girl with light tabby colored shorthair and beautiful, blue eyes.

Like so many others, I'm trying to find a family who will remind me what it feels like to be loved. For as long as I can remember, I've slept under a kind ladies window sill. She can't let me inside, but she does feed me and the other cats that come around. I just want a home, one that I can live in and be loved!

I watched my best furr-end (cat) get attacked and killed by stray dogs out in the front yard. Since them, dogs make me nervous. So does living outside! I see now that anything can happen!

I am much too sweet to be living outdoors. All I can think about is finding a kind human who will make time for me, play with me after they get home from work, maybe sunbathe atop my cat tower facing the window, let me cuddle on their lap while binge watching the latest series and maybe share their pillow at night.

A girl can hope, right? Someone out there has got to want me... don't they?

Have you ever thought about adopting a 🐈 who has 🩷SPECIAL NEEDS🩷?

😿 I sure hope so because I feel like no one wants me, despite being a sweet shorthair Snowshoe Siamese!

I have been in foster care since I was about 4-weeks-old. I'm now nearly 7-years-old and I've grown into a beautiful little lady! 😽

👩‍⚕️ When I was about one, I was diagnosed with Hyperesthesia, also known as Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome (FHS). 🩺 It is a very unfortunate medical condition that results in extremely sensitive skin, enough so that even the gentlest of pets can feel like a thousand needles stabbing me! 🪡😿

It can be so painful that there are times I may hiss, scratch, or bite suddenly when I'm getting pet. I don't mean to but sometimes my little body just hurts and I don't know how to make it stop! 😿💔

🛑 It's crucial to remember that 🐈 with hyperesthesia cannot control their actions, so punishment is ineffective and can worsen their anxiety!!!🚦

My Hyperesthesia episodes are triggered by stress & touch. However, my main stressor is other 🐈‍⬛️ 🐈. Interactions with them will make me so upset that I tend to growl and my back and tail will start to excessively twitch. I'm sure it has a lot to do with my nerves and just wanting to protect myself! 💞

When my foster pawrents finally gave me my own bedroom, it was like night and day! 🌙 🌞 Immediately, I became more loving, affectionate and my episodes decreased immensely. 🤍💜🤍

Thus, it is essential that I am adopted into a 🏡 with NO other 😸 or small children 👦👶👧.

I also need an experienced cat parent, purrty please?!

I am fantastic with 🐕 and would do fine with them as long as they do well with 🐈 and respect my boundaries.

I know this is a lot to take in. Surely, there is a purrfect family, somewhere out there, who is willing to love me just the way I am?! 😻💋

I'm a rambunctious little guy 😺 and need room to play and explore with a bunch of toys, cat trees, and scratching posts at my disposal. 🪶🧶 I just 🩵 LOVE 🩵 toys that are ball shaped!

I do well with some cats 🐈 and am okay with smaller sized dogs 🐕. I've not really been around kids but they visit me at the adoption events and they seem cool! 🙎‍♂️👧 As long as they are nice to me, we will get along great!

Our Story

A New Beginning Animal Rescue (ANBAR) is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit Utah-based organization. Our goal is to thoughtfully reduce unnecessary euthanasia rates; improve Weber and Davis Counties’ animal welfare with compassion and respect through community building and public education on the mutual benefits of responsible pet parenting; and enhance the quality of life of companion animals in need of a new beginning and a forever home. We strive to ensure that each and every animal rescued by ANBAR is cared for; treated with compassion, respect, and dignity. While we are located in the Roy-Layton-Ogden, UT area, we also partner with local and regional groups and accept transfer rescues from throughout northern Utah and the surrounding states. ANBAR does not turn away any companion animals but welcomes them regardless of their condition and do not place a time limit on their stay with us. We believe that euthanasia should be used only as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering – such as when an animal is terminally ill, critically injured, or dying. ANBAR embraces a multi-prong strategic service approach to contribute to reach our goal of reducing the number of adoptable animals euthanized each year. Our services include: *Rehoming and Adoption opportunities and events for ANBAR companion animals *Spay/neuter of ANBAR animals, to effectively reduce the problems of pet overpopulation *Veterinary care for ANBAR animals *Volunteer foster care program to provide housing for rescued or surrendered companion animals, until a qualified forever home is found *Volunteer foster care for special needs animals *Volunteer public education and training programs Rehome and Adoption Opportunities and Events: ANBAR is gratified to have a long-standing special partnership with Petco in holding adoption events every Saturday - without exception - at the Petco store in Layton, UT, since our inception in 2008. Additionally, up to 3 kittens and young cats are displayed at the Petco store for adoption, and rotated weekly to increase visibility and opportunity. Nearly 5,000 companion animals (kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs – and rabbits) have found homes through our adoption events as a result of this joint endeavor.
