www.anbarrescue.org Rescue β™‘ Foster β™‘ Adopt A New Beginning Animal Rescue (ANBAR) is a foster-based rescue focused on providing cats and dogs loving temporary homes while awaiting their forever homes. ANBAR primarily focuses in the Weber/Davis County region, but we also accept transfers from throughout northern Utah and surrounding states. Our goal is to reduce unnecessary euthana

sia rates and improve animal welfare through community building and public education on the mutual benefits of spay/neutering your animals and responsible pet ownership. Through our generous donors and amazing fosters, ANBAR is able to rescue severe medical cases and provide the assistance necessary for their survival. We believe that euthanasia should only be used as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering. ANBAR’s ultimate mission is to give every rescue a new beginning.

πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™ ANBAR needs your help! πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

There is an old saying that β€œBad things come in threes”, and that seems to be holding true, as our rescue has been hit with THREE emergency medical cases last week!

The first and most urgent is a five month old kitten named Taylor. He had been hospitalized at Mountain West Veterinary specialists in Layton fighting his hardest, and after five days he was finally able to go home to his experienced medical foster. He was rushed to the ER Thursday evening due to rapid onset medical shock from an unknown cause. He went from mild puking and nausea in the morning to full on shock hours later. The amazing team at Mountain West was able to stabilize him, but at the time we still had no idea what caused this. At first we thought it may be some kind of toxic exposure as his bloodwork indicated his kidney levels were off the charts (He was found and trapped at a car detail shop in Ogden a week prior), but his kidneys managed to recover by the morning, and after numerous tests it was revealed that he had come down with a sudden and extreme atypical case of Feline Panleukopenia, also known as feline parvo/distemper.

He is with a very experienced medical foster, but due to medical complications such as blood pressure drops, it became obvious that he needed to remain hospitalized with a constant medical IV to have the best chance at survival. He has been making slow and steady progress, and at this point we are very hopeful for a full recovery. But almost five days of hospitalization is not cheap, and his medical bill is close to $5000! πŸ™€

Second is Tango, an extremely sweet gentleman who, despite appearances, is ONLY THREE YEARS OLD. He came to us in extremely poor condition, just skin and bones and with a severe upper respiratory infection. One of his eyes was actually sealed shut with infection. We managed to avoid the ER with him and got him started on several antibiotics and fluids, and he is improving, but it's become apparent that the root of his problem is a disease called Feline Stomatitis. In oversimplified terms, Stomatitis is when a cat becomes allergic to their own teeth. This disease is very painful, and while steroids can be used to subdue the disease for a time, eventually the only treatment is to extract all the teeth. This surgery is not cheap. and Tango will be the THIRD cat this year that we will have to do this surgery for. The final bill for Tango after this surgery will likely be $600+.

Last but not least is Mittens, a scared kitten who is just eight months old and has an injured paw. We have been working with a good Samaritan to take in a batch of abandoned kittens near her house, and last Saturday Mittens showed up limping and with a swollen front paw. She grabbed him and we took him to Mountain West. Luckily, he did not have a broken leg. But he did have a large abscess in his paw that had to be surgically drained. He is making a great recovery, and slowly opening up to his foster, but his bill from the ER was $535.

We don’t expect to cover all these bills with this fundraiser, but these three back-to-back medical cases have severely impacted our medical funds, so we are once again asking for the community's help. Every donation has an impact, even as little as $5! And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this post. You never know if the next person who sees this can!

You can donate using:
-The β€œDonate” button below this post

πŸ’”Abandoned & forgotten adult cats find themselves heartbroken each time they gear up for another adoption event, knowing they will once again be passed up for a younger version of themselves. 🐈 πŸˆβ€β¬›οΈ

Reasons you should choose them?
βœ”οΈ We've got plenty!

1. What you see is what you get. 😻
Adult cats know who they are. PURRsonality, size, temperament - all a guessing game with young kittens who, sure, they are cute... but they too will get big!

2. After a long day, do you just want to curl up and relax with your furbaby? Adults want to lounge or cuddle while quietly giving you the love you need. Though they do remain active and still play - 😼 they just don't cause havoc the way most rambunctious kittens do who are high-energy, get into everything and don't have an "off button."

3. Adult cats require less attention and supervision. 😽 They have well-developed manners, use the litter box and enjoy scratching posts. Unlike kittens who are still learning and require constant reminders.

4. Adults are usually a better choice for families with small children. Kittens often play rough and they are sharp. πŸ™€ They can’t help it, but kittens are all teeth and claws. They climb your leg, the curtains, knock over dΓ©cor and step under your feet. Oh, and they chew! Teething causes them to chew on shoes, the corners of books, plants, ear lobes and fingers, electrical cords, drapery strings and much, much more. Most adult cats don't do that!

5. Adult cats will sleep at the foot of your bed or in a cozy spot in another room. They tend to sleep when you do. 😹 Kittens run around all night and attack your toes through the blanket just to wake you up!

6. Many adult cats end up in shelters due to no fault of their own! 😿
Separated from their loved ones, surrounded by other cats, confined, confused and scared.

7. People gravitate toward kitties while older cats sit by and watch, as one loving family after another passes them by. 😾 Watch them! They tend to lay with their heads down, showing little to no sign of engagement because they know their chances of being adopted are slim.

But, YOU... you are their chance to feel loved! πŸ’” Imagine, not having a family because you age out! Rescue cats know to give unconditional love to the family that saves them! πŸ’ž

Meet Pho Bear! πŸ»πŸ’›

Pho Bear is a gentle, sensitive 3yr old soul with a quiet charm. He came from a home with lots of other cats, so he would love to have a friendly feline companion in his new home. It might take him a little time to feel comfortable, but once he opens up, he’s an absolute sweetheart who soaks in every bit of love and attention you give him.

He LOVES humans of all ages, other cats and gets along just fine with dogs!

This handsome boy is also quite the talkerβ€”he’ll chat with you when he’s ready for pets or just wants to say hello. Pho Bear loves to nap in high places like cat trees, where he can watch the world go by in peace.

He’s fixed, microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated and litter box trained!

Now he’s ready to find his forever family.

Meet Mabel - Your Future Adventure Buddy - Hi, my name is Mabel! 🐢

I'm a Labrador mix with a touch of Shepherd, and I’m looking for my forever family. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§ I’m an active girl with a big heart who just turned one in November 1st. πŸŽ‰

I would love a family or couple who enjoys adventure as much as I do.πŸΎπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘£β›ΊοΈπŸ’¦ Whether it’s running, hiking, or swimming, I’m always ready to go!

My foster mom says I can be quite the athleteβ€”sometimes even plotting ways to keep myself entertained like climbing fences or sneaking off to explore the neighborhood. 🏑 But that's just because I ❀️ people and I want to meet everyone! I need a family who can give me plenty of exercise and keep my clever mind busy. πŸ•πŸ§Žβ€β™€οΈπŸ¦΄

When I’m not out burning energy, I love to play with my stuffies, chase tennis balls, and splash around at the lake. πŸ›ΆπŸŒžπŸ₯Ž Nothing makes me happier than water, sunshine, and a good game of fetch.

πŸ‘¦ πŸ‘§ πŸ‘Ά 🐈 🐩 I get along great with kids and other dogs, and while my foster cat siblings think I move a little too fast, I truly do love them.

I’m very trainable, food-motivated, and already know my basic commands. With your guidance, I’d love to learn even more! 🩷

I’m not an apartment dogβ€”I take my exercise and activities seriously. What I need is a family who can keep up with me, guide me with patience, and love me endlessly. 🐢

In return, I’ll bring laughter, loyalty, and plenty of adventures into your life. πŸ’› I may just swim my way into your heart. πŸ’›

We need a new family and though we've known each other for as long as we can remember, we are not necessarily bonded. 🐾 ❀️ 🐾

πŸ’• I'm Miley (the pretty tabby) a very playful 2-year-old girl who loves to perch atop the tallest cat tree and watch over my 'domain!' I play with toys of all sorts and love to chase the kids with the mouse on a string. πŸͺΆ 🧢 I enjoy being pet but am not really much of a snuggler. Although, I do sneak into the bedroom forπŸŒ› nighttime cuddles every now and then. I love boxes πŸ“¦ and anything I can get inside of, even if I barely fit. I'm the ultimate example of "If I fits, I sits!" I'm not a big fan of dogs, but will tolerate them if they don't get in my face. I get along great with my "sister" though! πŸˆβ€β¬›οΈ

πŸ’“ My name is Luna and I'm a shy 2-year-old sweetheart who will come out of nowhere when you're watching TV πŸ“Ί and just plop down in your lap. I love to snuggle with everyone in the home, kids included. I don't want to be picked up, but when I want you, you will know. I'm a very typical lazy lounger and you will find me πŸ’€ sleeping in any place that looks comfy! I love to bask in the sun 🌞 when it comes through the windows at the perfect angle. Now, please don't let this deter you, but I do have a urinary condition that requires me to be on πŸ₯£ prescription urinary food to prevent crystal formation in my bladder. I have been on prescription food supplemented with wet food (non-prescriptjon) and have had no issues for two years. I get along great with other cats, dogs and kids. I don't have a mean bone in my body. πŸ• 🐈 πŸ‘¦

Our Story

A New Beginning Animal Rescue (ANBAR) is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit Utah-based organization. Our goal is to thoughtfully reduce unnecessary euthanasia rates; improve Weber and Davis Counties’ animal welfare with compassion and respect through community building and public education on the mutual benefits of responsible pet parenting; and enhance the quality of life of companion animals in need of a new beginning and a forever home. We strive to ensure that each and every animal rescued by ANBAR is cared for; treated with compassion, respect, and dignity. While we are located in the Roy-Layton-Ogden, UT area, we also partner with local and regional groups and accept transfer rescues from throughout northern Utah and the surrounding states. ANBAR does not turn away any companion animals but welcomes them regardless of their condition and do not place a time limit on their stay with us. We believe that euthanasia should be used only as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering – such as when an animal is terminally ill, critically injured, or dying. ANBAR embraces a multi-prong strategic service approach to contribute to reach our goal of reducing the number of adoptable animals euthanized each year. Our services include: *Rehoming and Adoption opportunities and events for ANBAR companion animals *Spay/neuter of ANBAR animals, to effectively reduce the problems of pet overpopulation *Veterinary care for ANBAR animals *Volunteer foster care program to provide housing for rescued or surrendered companion animals, until a qualified forever home is found *Volunteer foster care for special needs animals *Volunteer public education and training programs Rehome and Adoption Opportunities and Events: ANBAR is gratified to have a long-standing special partnership with Petco in holding adoption events every Saturday - without exception - at the Petco store in Layton, UT, since our inception in 2008. Additionally, up to 3 kittens and young cats are displayed at the Petco store for adoption, and rotated weekly to increase visibility and opportunity. Nearly 5,000 companion animals (kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs – and rabbits) have found homes through our adoption events as a result of this joint endeavor.
