A New Beginning Animal Rescue Welcome to A New Beginning Animal Rescue (ANBAR)! We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit Utah-based organization dedicated to saving lives.

A New Beginning Animal Rescue (ANBAR) is a foster-based rescue focused on providing cats and dogs loving temporary homes while awaiting their forever homes. ANBAR primarily focuses in the Weber/Davis County region, but we also accept transfers from throughout northern Utah and surrounding states. Our goal is to reduce unnecessary euthanasia rates and improve animal welfare through community buildi

ng and public education on the mutual benefits of spay/neutering your animals and responsible pet ownership. Through our generous donors and amazing fosters, ANBAR is able to rescue severe medical cases and provide the assistance necessary for their survival. We believe that euthanasia should only be used as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering. ANBAR’s ultimate mission is to give every rescue a new beginning.

Reposting because Lucy needs you!!!

FOSTER-to-Adopt or FAMILY needed!!! 🙏

"Out with the old, in with the new" isn't that what they say?💔 Boy, are we already starting to experience that!

Apparently, Lucy's family grew tired of her. This 13-year-old darling Calico was discarded like yesterday's trash. 😿

Despite multiple attempts to reach the "family" in hopes of a reunion, all efforts have been futile. 😡😭

Thus, Lucy remains in a small crate amongst strangers at a shelter, just hoping someone will take a second glance and give her the opportunity to live her senior moments surrounded by love. 💞

This is no way to live. Regardless of how much the staff loves Lucy, she will continue to digress in such a starkly contrasted environment to a warm 🏡 she once knew.

Reasons you should consider adopting an older cat? 🥰😻
1. Rewarding!
2. They know the rules
3. Super grateful
4. Offers so much love
5. More relaxed
6. Less mischievous

Hi, my name is Bella and I'm 4 years old. My mommy has to rehome me because she moved in with my grandpa is severely allergic to me.

I'm no bother... I kind of enjoy being a loner. I'm independent, but I do love my human, and I'm sure I'll learn to love you too, if you give me a chance!

Look at my cute white patch on my back! Everyone always says how pretty I am!

I'm a good girl - I know to use the litter box and I have never clawed at furniture! I've always been able to stay indoors.

Dogs are great and I like kids too! I'm sure I'd be ok with other cats as long as you introduced us slowly and gave us a chance to get to know each other!

I just want a home! It's going to be scary being away from the only family I've ever known. So you think someone will love me again?

Update: Nala found a family - she was ADOPTED!!!! 🤗🤗🤗

Special needs! 😻
Meet Nala... this purrfectly darling girl is just over a year old, and she has a slight case of Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH).

Nala experiences some difficulty with balance and mobility, but overall, she gets around just fine! If anything, it has contributed to her "curvy" frame! 🤭 She gets to have wet food to help with her water intake!

Fortunately, she has not experienced any issues with the litter box, but she does prefer a deep box.

She loves other cats, gets a long great with dogs, and also loves children!

We would sure love to see this terrific tabby find a home today!!! Can you help us?

Urgent!!!

Joy needs a new foster... this beautiful, nearly senior 🐈 is NOT in an ideal situation.

At ten years old, we don't want to cause her more stress than necessary. 😿 Joy doesn't love the chaos that surrounds her in the temporary pad she is crashing. We believe she would much prefer a quiet 🏡 where she was the only 😽 who could receive undivided attention. Can you blame her???

You see, Joy once had a "family" who decided they no longer wanted a cat. 😡 Rather than being responsible pet owners, they just dumped her off!

Heaven only knows how long she was walking endlessly, trying to find the people that she assumed loved her! 😭

Fortunately, she is now in a warm foster home... BUT, we need to find a better solution!🤞

Please help us find Joy a family... or, at the very least, a new foster who can provide a more docile environment without young kids, dogs, and a ton of other cats!

She is a girl who just wants to hang out and we think, would love to be an "only child!"

We would give anything to help Joy find the people that are meant to be in her life! 🧍🏼‍♂️🐈‍⬛️ Oh, one more thing... Joy really seems to enjoy men! She is great with everyone, but for some reason, tends to gravitate towards her current foster dad.

Adopting a 🐈 might not solve ALL your problems... but adopting two might! 😻😽

Here's the great thing about kittens in pairs... they generally already know each other, so you don't have to deal with that acclimation period. 🙃

Plus, they have a buddy when you are at work or out with family and friends. Which means they are entertained and less likely to get into mischief! 😼

Not only that, but they sleep & play together and groom one another! 💕🐈‍⬛️🐈💕

Really, if you think about it... they are small (even teens and adults) so they don't eat a ton, or take up much room. And, you're already 💩 scooping, so a couple more turds isn't that big of deal, is it?! 🤭

We hope you've had the BEST Howliday Season!!!

❌️ ADOPTIONS CANCELED tomorrow (Saturday), December 28th!!!

Our amazing volunteers get the day off to spend time with their families! 👪♡👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

However, there are still so many 😽 like Shiva and her kittens - Crash, Missy, Hero & Spot that need to find a furever family 🏡.

SOOOO reach out to us, and we would ❤️ to coordinate a home visit and on-the-spot adoption!

Shiva lived in a home with dozens of other cats. The former owner was sweet little lady who had a bigger heart than she does room in her home to house them all. So, we offered to help!

This beautiful momma, Shiva, came to our rescue just weeks after having given birth. She was and continues to be a wonderful momma!!! She just turned ONE year old and is now fixed, so her baby-makin days are over! Shiva is a little on the shy side but is starting to realize that people just want to love her. We have to wonder if perhaps with SO many other cats, she just got lost on the shuffle! Wouldn't it be amazing to be the family that showered her with the love she deserves?!

Cute thing about Shiva, she also decided to "mother" Hero who we believe to be a her brother! Certainly not her offspring, but it didn't matter to her! She allowed him to cuddle and nurse along with the rest of her babies! What a gentle heart she has, don't you think?!

Hero is about 6 months old and a lover! He is curious and has no fear and just a very chill boy!!!

Crash is also very chill and he along Missy & Spot are so sweet! They were born in September, so just a few months old!

All of these kiddos have been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped and spayed, or neutered.

Look at their darling little faces and picture yourself curled up with one of these furballs!

Foster momma is in South Ogden and would love to invite you over to meet them. We know you will absolutely fall in love so at that point, we simply have you fill out an adoption form promising to be the best forever family, then pay the adoption fee of $120/ea or $220 for a pair (because two is always better than one 😻) which includes all of the above, and you are on your way!!!

Twins Rya & Reo need a good home!!!

This pair is absolutely darling and so very chill considering the currently live with a family who has dogs, other cats, and a family full of humans that just adore them!

In January, they will be 5 months old!

Just like all our furbabies, they've been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, and fixed.

Rya & Reo are good kittens who follow all the rules and love to cuddle and play.

I'm a guy who loves to stretch out and sleep! I'm also a super cuddly cat who wants to be held at night.

Cats and dogs are great - I don't mind them at all!!! I currently have a sister (cat) and a brother (dog) and am great with both. Unfortunately, they get to go with my dad, but I'm hoping my new family will have a friend or two for me to hang with!

Human kids are also amazing! My momma has a toddler and I know to always be gentle with her. She plays with me and is always around me. I will miss her!

I am a very big and sturdy GENTLE GIANT of a tabby who loves to snuggle as close as possibly.

I am super playful, and I love laser toys. Looking out the window is one of my favorite hobbies.

I always use the litter box (I'm used to pellets, but I'm also fine with clay). So, you don't need to worry about me having accidents!

In fact, you really don't have to worry about anything with me because I'm the perfect cat!!! I'm SO handsome - I love cats, dogs, kids, humans and have no poor behaviors!

Everyone wants a cuddly cat, right? What about those 🐈 who are... well, shall we say moody? Independent? Kind of a brat?

We debated on whether we ought to post this cute girl, but if there is one thing we are certain, it's that 💕 THERE IS SOMEONE FOR EVERYONE!!! 💕 We truly believe that her forever family is out there and she will be the purrfect pet!

Read on... this is an excerpt from her foster momma, who might I add, would keep her if she could!

"Sariah is not a cuddly warm kitten to curl up with. She's Satan's mistress. Queen of the damned. Chaos wrapped in fur.

She’s adorable, and when she wants attention she’s fine until you touch her. You can pet her a couple of times, but then you’re getting bit or scratched.

It’s a warning until it’s not. Like any other cat. There’s not a lot of leeway before she’s serious about it, but she has broken skin.

Scratching is worse, but she has those needle claws that young cats have. I haven’t tried trimming them yet, but that would help. Of course, we will trim if you decide to give her a chance and adopt her!

She doesn’t like to be held or carried, but sometimes she’ll come up and lay on my back at night, and she’ll just chill there for a while. She’s not unfriendly at all, just not sweet and cuddly.

She’s mellowed out a lot and loves to play with the dogs! In fact, we think she needs to be in a home with dogs and other pets, or she will be bored!

Sariah has never been mean to the dogs, just hisses at them when she wants them to back off. But they chase each other around and play just fine. She’s been fine with my other cat, too, and just leaves him alone. No fighting that way at all.

She is not for a household with kids or someone looking for a cuddly kitten.

She’s feisty and spirited and an escape artist. She steals your food and climbs the walls. Literally.

It took Sariah a few weeks to warm up to them and to me, as expected.

But if anyone tries to pass her off as a sweet gentle thing, she’ll struggle to find a forever home.

Someone who loves the feisty kitten that loves to play and doesn’t mind them being in and on everything when not at rest.

The truth is if I wasn’t renting, I would have a hell of a time letting her go. She makes me laugh every day."

We hate to put her back because she seems quite friendly. Nervous, but friendly!

Urgent... this furbaby needs a foster or a family TODAY! 🥰

Meet Kira!

This beautiful calico was rescued from a colony. Upon trapping, we quickly realized that not only was she pregnant but she is also a sweetheart!

So, we brought her in as a pet.
Kira birthed seven babies and did a fantastic job! They've since found families of their own, so now, we'd like to focus on this darling girl!

Kira was a teen mom, who we estimate to be just over a year old.

She's a super fun cat! Super affectionate, happy, sweet, and playful.

Kira will, on occasion, bite the fosters' grandkids (when they pester her), but she will not break the skin.

Foster momma has a resident cat who wasn't friendly to Kira when she was first taken in and unfortunately, it set the tone.

We suspect she will do great in another home as long as there is an acclimation period. Keep in mind, she has just head babies and was still in mommy mode so we want to give her the benefit of the doubt!

Kira would love an active family !!! Someone that will give her attention and play with her as she has a lot of energy.

This is exactly why I suspect she would do well with another cat... she's probably bored and just needs to know the other cat likes her!

Hi, my name is Payton!

I'm a gentle and playful two year old German Shepherd / Lab mix who has not had the opportunity to be with other dogs, cats or kids! Soooo, I'm not sure how I'd do but I'd like to be given the chance. If you're patient with me, I could learn!

I am well-behaved and I know to go potty outside!

I'm a little nervous what will happen to me... because I'm a big boy and because shelters are full, my current owner has thrown out some scary options that I don't even want to think about.

I would woof a new family for Xmas!!! Do you have space for me in your home and in your hearts?

Our Story

A New Beginning Animal Rescue (ANBAR) is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit Utah-based organization. Our goal is to thoughtfully reduce unnecessary euthanasia rates; improve Weber and Davis Counties’ animal welfare with compassion and respect through community building and public education on the mutual benefits of responsible pet parenting; and enhance the quality of life of companion animals in need of a new beginning and a forever home. We strive to ensure that each and every animal rescued by ANBAR is cared for; treated with compassion, respect, and dignity. While we are located in the Roy-Layton-Ogden, UT area, we also partner with local and regional groups and accept transfer rescues from throughout northern Utah and the surrounding states. ANBAR does not turn away any companion animals but welcomes them regardless of their condition and do not place a time limit on their stay with us. We believe that euthanasia should be used only as a humane last resort, to prevent further animal suffering – such as when an animal is terminally ill, critically injured, or dying. ANBAR embraces a multi-prong strategic service approach to contribute to reach our goal of reducing the number of adoptable animals euthanized each year. Our services include: *Rehoming and Adoption opportunities and events for ANBAR companion animals *Spay/neuter of ANBAR animals, to effectively reduce the problems of pet overpopulation *Veterinary care for ANBAR animals *Volunteer foster care program to provide housing for rescued or surrendered companion animals, until a qualified forever home is found *Volunteer foster care for special needs animals *Volunteer public education and training programs Rehome and Adoption Opportunities and Events: ANBAR is gratified to have a long-standing special partnership with Petco in holding adoption events every Saturday - without exception - at the Petco store in Layton, UT, since our inception in 2008. Additionally, up to 3 kittens and young cats are displayed at the Petco store for adoption, and rotated weekly to increase visibility and opportunity. Nearly 5,000 companion animals (kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs – and rabbits) have found homes through our adoption events as a result of this joint endeavor.
