Announcement: Service Paws is now part of Accessible Utah

We are excited to announce that Service Paws has officially become part of Accessible Utah.

Service Paws will continue as a DBA (Doing Business As) under Accessible Utah, remaining one of our flagship programs. This change reflects our growing mission to expand accessibility resources, advocacy, and community support across Utah, while still honoring the roots and impact that Service Paws has built.

As Accessible Utah, we will not only continue offering our service-dog and therapy-dog programs, but also grow to include new initiatives, resources, and partnerships that strengthen accessibility and inclusion throughout our communities.

Thank you for supporting us in this exciting new chapter. Together, we’ll continue to build a stronger, more accessible Utah for all.

We would love for you like https://www.facebook.com/AccessibleUtah/ and https://www.facebook.com/servicepawsusa/

K9 Sport Sack

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review for K9 Sport Sack

We had the pleasure of meeting Aaron from K9 Sport Sack at SuperZoo, and he invited us to visit their crew in Lehi. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality and passion for their products were incredible.

We picked up the Knavigate for our therapy dog, Dolly P, and she absolutely loves it! The design is supportive, comfortable, and thoughtfully crafted, making it easy for her to ride along with us while we’re out at events. In fact, Dolly was able to use it the very same day at an event, and we snapped some adorable pictures of her enjoying her new ride.

As an organization that works closely with service and therapy dogs, we are always looking for gear that balances comfort, durability, and practicality. The Knavigate checks every box. Meeting the team behind the product gave us even more confidence—they truly care about dogs and their handlers.

If you’re looking for a high-quality dog carrier that puts your dog’s comfort first, we highly recommend K9 Sport Sack. The Knavigate has already become a favorite for Dolly and will definitely be a go-to for many of our outings.

🌟 SuperZoo Find: Canada Pooch 🌟

At SuperZoo this year, we discovered a brand that really impressed us— Canada Pooch 🐾. https://canadapooch.com/ Two of their products stood out:

✨ Cooling Vest – Designed to cover more of the top part of the dog and equipped with unique back straps that the back legs go through, this feature helps keep the vest perfectly centered. We think it outshines many of the cooling vests we’ve seen before!

✨ Suspender Boots – A seasonal boot with a clever twist: all the boots are connected! That means no more losing a single boot (a common problem for service dog handlers).

👏 Huge shout-out to Canada Pooch for these thoughtful designs that make life easier for both dogs and their handlers.

🐕‍🦺 September is National Service Dog Month! If you know a handler, either of these products would make a thoughtful gift to honor the incredible work of service dogs and the life-changing impact they have on individuals with disabilities.

Did you know that…..

Service dogs can actually sense changes in human biology before we even notice them ourselves. For example, diabetic alert dogs are trained to detect subtle shifts in a person’s blood sugar levels by smelling chemical changes in their breath or sweat—sometimes up to 30 minutes before medical devices pick up the change. This early warning can literally save lives!

This year at SuperZoo, Service Paws discovered an innovative lifesaving product called Rescue Retriever, a tool designed to help first responders quickly locate and save your pets in emergencies.

Rescue Retriever attaches directly to your dog’s kennel, clearly signaling firefighters where your pet is located. Their newest advancement is even more exciting: a color-flashing device that can be worn by your dog. This ensures that even if your pet is outside of their kennel, first responders can still find and rescue them quickly.

At Service Paws, we believe this product has incredible potential—especially for service dogs who are often right beside their handlers. With Rescue Retriever, emergency personnel can locate and protect both the handler and their service dog at the same time.

We encourage every dog owner, especially those with service animals, to explore this powerful safety tool.

Why People with Disabilities Should Be Called Heroes

People with disabilities face challenges every day that go unnoticed by most of society. But rather than letting obstacles define them, they adapt, persist, and thrive. This is the very essence of heroism.

I wrote a version of the following, but chat gpt did it better so we’re going to go with that one!

A Climb That Changed Everything

Today, Panda and I had the privilege of honoring a moment in history that forever changed the lives of millions—the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act by President George H. W. Bush. And we celebrated in a way that truly mattered: by *climbing* the steps of the Utah State Capitol.

All 41 of them.

I wasn’t alone. My three companions couldn’t walk—so they crawled. Every step was a statement, every movement a memory of those who fought before us. Three-quarters of the way up, my legs gave out, and I joined them on the ground, crawling the rest of the way in solidarity and strength.

Thirty-five years ago, an eight-year-old girl made a similar” climb” up the steps of the U.S. Capitol. That crawl moved hearts and changed laws. Because of her courage, the ADA became a reality.

I thought of her today, and of my dear friend who is deaf. As a child, she was punished for using her hands to communicate. She didn’t learn sign language until adulthood—because shame had been sewn into her silence. Even today, she hides her native language in public. But today, I met a woman wearing a shirt that boldly declared, *"Disability is not a bad word."* And I believed her.

For those of us with invisible illnesses, it’s easy to mask our struggles. We smile, we push, we hide. But today I learned something that will stay with me forever: we don’t need to hide. We can *rise*, even when we have to crawl.

After the climb, I sat motionless inside the Capitol. My body refused to move. My mind had gone quiet. Panda curled up on my lap, grounding me. Strangers pointed, whispered, stared. And yet—I stayed. Because sometimes, just being visible is revolutionary.

I may pay for that climb with pain for days. But I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Because this journey isn’t just mine—it’s a torch lit by those before me, carried for those beside me, and passed to those yet to come.

We can change the world again… one brave crawl, one visible moment, one open heart at a time!
