Thank you to all the generous donors who made the purchase of the new dog park signs possible! They look great!
To all the humans who use the dog park for the exercise, socialization, and fun for their dogs…please take a moment to read the signs.
As Smokey the Bear says, “Only YOU can prevent forest fires”…and the dog park signs are there to remind you, “Only YOU can help to keep our dog park clean, safe, and enjoyable for the others who come visit after you”!
Also, please be aware that there is a QR symbol on one of the signs…to make YOUR financial donation to the dog park easy and quick!

Earlier this week our Dog Park Committee president w**d whacked the large patch of foxtails growing in the center of the park. Today another committee member spent a good amount of time raking up the whacked w**ds. These VOLUNTEERS work hard to make the Lake County Dog Park a pleasant, and SAFE, place for your dogs to have an open space to run, play, and meet new doggie friends.
Please be aware that there are some foxtail remnants remaining and try to monitor your dog(s)’ noses, paws, ears for the wisps of the foxtail plants that can become embedded if your dog sniffs, walks, rolls in a foxtail. They can be very dangerous to your pup.
Although we do our best to maintain the park we can only do so much…and, remember, we are VOLUNTEERS! A plan to hopefully control, or completely eradicate the foxtails is in the works!
Please do your part…monitor your dog while in the park …most importantly: pick up their p**p. Thank you to everyone who IS a responsible dog owner and Lake County Dog Park partner.

Thanks to Dog Park Committee member and web mistress Jan! She raked up the remains of the foxtails today and got rid of them. But they will be back, so watch for them.

The Dog Park Committee is thinking of planting clover, which is a competitor of foxtails and could help slow down their growth. If anyone has ideas to share about this, please comment!

Good afternoon, Dog Park fans!

This is a PSA to let everyone know what the w**ds called foxtails look like--first photo. The are beautiful plants that can do a lot of damage to dogs if their awns become embedded in the skin and tissue. (See comments for a graphic photo.) We have been pulling the foxtail w**ds out every year. Our Dog Park President, Stephen, w**d whacked a bunch of them out this afternoon (see second photo) but they are persistent little nuisances. Please check your dogs, especially eyes, ears, and between and around toes, as well. They love to wedge themselves into folds and crevices and wreak havoc.

We are asking that you pull out any foxtails you see coming up in the future. The Dog Park does not have staff or attendants. We are all volunteers who care for the Dog Park on our own time and rely on our community to help take care of it otherwise by letting us know about concerns and cleaning up after themselves and their dogs.

Pulling out also goes for any mushrooms you might see. Some dogs like to eat mushrooms and that is not a good idea. We have not had any reports of them for awhile but they can pop up overnight.

Thank you!

We’ve noticed a HUGE increase in dog p**p in the dog park. Pet waste can carry harmful bacteria, parasites, or viruses. It can make people, especially children, very sick. It can also be dangerous to wildlife and other dogs. Rodents are very attracted to pet waste left in the Lake County Dog Park.
PLEASE use the FREE pet waste bags available throughout the park!
PLEASE monitor your pet(s)’ activity in the park and pick up their p**p!
It would be wonderful if you’d be so kind as to pick up a bit of random p**p from time to time. Good deeds are always appreciated!
Let’s keep our park clean!
Let’s keep our park safe…and healthy!
Let’s keep our park free…and open.
Thank you to all who are doing their part!

Thank you to all who donated to help get the dog park gates replaced! We have successfully raised enough money! The gates will be replaced when the weather warms up!

However, we are always accepting more donations to help with the continued sustainability of the dog park. Donated funds go towards the purchase of more poo bags and supplies for maintenance issues and upkeep. Your continued support helps to keep the dog park open!

Thank you!
