Forgotten Friends Mixed Breed Rescue

Forgotten Friends Mixed Breed Rescue Forgotten Friends is a 501 c (3) Austin, Texas-based rescue group, relying solely on donations. Volunteer with Us !!

Since 1999, we have pulled dogs from city/county shelters, owner surrenders, and those found abandoned in Texas border cities. WHAT WE DO

After rescuing animals from participating shelters, Forgotten Friends:
-provides a health exam with a participating veterinarian, including heartworm testing,
-provides the rabies shot and yearly vaccinations,
-dental, heartworm treatment and any other care nee

ded,
-has the animals spayed or neutered, and
-provides the animals with monthly heartworm medication. (Heartworm disease can be deadly, but is preventable if dogs are given once-a-month chewable heartworm pills.) They are then allowed time to adjust and become accustomed to a foster family environment (when one is available) before being adopted into their new home that is a good match for family and dog. http://www.volunteermatch.org/search/org41846.jsp

❤ "Have a Heart for Chained Dogs Week" is an important opportunity to raise awareness about the harmful consequences of keeping dogs chained, both physically and emotionally. This week serves as a reminder that it is everyone's responsibility to promote the humane treatment of these dogs and advocate for their well-being.

It's sooooo important to spread the message that chaining dogs is cruel, inhumane and causes long lasting behavioral and physical damage that many dogs carry with them their entire lives. If you come across a dog that is chained in your area, please reach out to us ~ we will do all we can to make a difference in their lives. ([email protected])

NMDOG is dedicated to improving the lives of dogs across the state of New Mexico who suffer from the cruelties of chaining. We provide vital support, including food, doghouses/straw, spay/neuter services and other veterinary care, safe and humane fencing solutions and more! Our outreach and education efforts are aimed to improve quality of life for these dogs.

While we all hope for a world where every dog lives inside as part of the family, we realize that is not the reality. “Have a Heart for Chained Dogs Week” gives us ALL the opportunity to advocate for change, raise awareness, and explore compassionate solutions to the issue of chaining.

Everyone can be an advocate for chained dogs, all dogs....and their own dogs ❤
