🎉🐾 Happy Birthday, Leaha! 🐾🎉

Favorite Treat: Leaha’s favorite birthday treat is actually not sweets, but charcuterie board (especially the cheese!)

Special Day Plans: Leaha’s plans are to spend time relaxing at home on this snowy weekend, and we hope it’s a great mini-vacation for her!

Advice/Goal for the Year Ahead: As we celebrate, Leaha has shared that her goal for the coming year is to be present in the moment and enjoy living in the now instead of always worrying about / planning the future. The present moment is a gift when you learn to truly embrace it!

Drop your birthday wishes and thoughts in the comments below to make Leaha’ s day even brighter! 🎉💖

💙THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS FRIGHTFUL, but your pet being inside and warm is so delightful!💙
Listen to our vet-approved winter safety tips- your pet will thank you for it: 🌨️🐾

⛄️💙Pets' cold tolerance can vary from pet to pet based on their coat, body fat stores, activity level, and health. Like people, cats and dogs are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia and generally should be kept inside. Longer-haired and thick-coated dog breeds, such as huskies and other dogs bred for colder climates, are more tolerant of cold weather; but no pet should be left outside for long periods in below-freezing weather!
⛄️💙Odds are your pet will be spending more time inside during the winter, so it's a good time to make sure your house is properly pet-proofed! Use space heaters with caution around pets, because they can cause burns or they can be knocked over, potentially starting a fire.
⛄️💙Cold weather may worsen some medical conditions such as arthritis. Be sure to get your pet's annual exam done to make sure they are healthy enough to face the cold!
⛄️💙A warm vehicle engine can be an appealing heat source for outdoor and feral cats, but it can be deadly. Check underneath your car, bang on the hood, and honk the horn before starting the engine to encourage feline hitchhikers to get out!
⛄️💙Many pets become lost in winter because snow and ice can hide recognizable scents that might normally help your pet find his/her way back home. Make sure your pet has a well-fitting collar with up-to-date identification, contact information, and make sure your microchip information is up to date.
⛄️💙We don't recommend keeping any pet outside for long periods of time, but if you are unable to keep your dog inside during cold weather, provide them with a warm, solid shelter against wind. Make sure that they have unlimited access to fresh, non-frozen water. The floor of the shelter should be off of the ground and the bedding should be thick, dry and changed regularly to provide a warm, dry environment. The door to the shelter should be positioned away from prevailing winds.
⛄️💙During walks, your dog's feet, legs and belly may pick up de-icing products, antifreeze, or other chemicals that could be toxic. When you get back inside, wipe down (or wash) your pet's feet, legs and belly to remove these chemicals and reduce the risk that your dog will be poisoned after (s)he licks them off of his/her feet or fur.
⛄️💙If your pet is whining, shivering, seems anxious, slows down or stops moving, seems weak, or starts looking for warm places to burrow, get them back inside quickly because they are showing signs of hypothermia. Frostbite is harder to detect, and may not be fully recognized until a few days after the damage is done. If you suspect your pet has hypothermia or frostbite, consult a veterinarian immediately.

🐾 Why It’s So Important to Keep Your Pet’s Cone On 🐾
We know your pet might not love wearing the cone, but it’s an essential part of the healing process! Here's why it's so important to make sure they keep it on:

🐶Prevents Licking & Biting – The cone helps prevent your pet from licking or biting at surgical sites or wounds, which can cause infections or delays in healing.
🐶Supports Proper Healing – Keeping the cone on ensures that any stitches, staples, or bandages stay intact and undisturbed, reducing the risk of complications.
🐶Reduces Stress & Discomfort – While it may seem uncomfortable at first, the cone is there to protect your pet from further injury, which can be even more stressful in the long run.
🐶Speeds Up Recovery – Pets who wear their cones properly tend to heal faster and more effectively, so they can get back to their happy, healthy selves sooner!

If your pet is having trouble adjusting to their cone, don’t hesitate to reach out for advice or alternative solutions. We’re here to help!
Let's work together to keep your pet safe, comfortable, and healing smoothly. 💙🐾

🐾 Thinking About Getting a Christmas Kitten? Here’s What to Consider!🐾
🐱Time & Attention – Kittens need playtime, training, and love. Are you ready for the commitment?
🐱Financial Responsibility – Vet visits, food, litter, and toys can add up. Be prepared for the costs.
🐱Long-Term Care – Kittens grow into adult cats that live for 15+ years. Are you ready for the long haul?
🐱Space & Environment – Ensure your home is kitten-proofed and provides room for play and rest.

Yes, the turkey is getting a check-up too (he had a little too much stuffing this year 😅). No one gets left behind, not even the bird!

So, while you’re still recovering from that food coma, rest assured that your pets are in good hands with us!

Happy Friday! Say hello to this adorable baby porcupine! 🦔🤎
Did you know that newborn porcupines, or 'porcupettes,' are born with soft quills that harden shortly after birth? This little one is at a wildlife rehab center, helping educate the community about these fascinating creatures. While they may be cute, porcupines are NOT suitable as pets!
