We’re taking a break to celebrate Thanksgiving with our loved ones! 🦃 Our clinic will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, and Black Friday, November 29, but we’ll be back and ready to care for your furry friends on Saturday, November 30! 🐾💙

If your pet needs medication or prescription food before the holiday, please put in your requests by today or tomorrow! 📅 Be sure to pick up your orders by Wednesday before 12 PM, as we’ll be closing for our regular half-day. Don’t wait—get everything ready for your furry friend! 🦴💙

Happy Friday! Say hello to this adorable baby porcupine! 🦔🤎
Did you know that newborn porcupines, or 'porcupettes,' are born with soft quills that harden shortly after birth? This little one is at a wildlife rehab center, helping educate the community about these fascinating creatures. While they may be cute, porcupines are NOT suitable as pets!

🩺💖Happy Friday! 🩺💖 Today, we’re giving our little monkey friend a checkup! We’re looking at their eyes, ears, and heart health. Did you know there are between 376 and 524 primate species, depending on how they’re classified? This range is thanks to ongoing scientific research!

🐵While it’s legal to own a monkey in TN, they’re not the right pets for most people. If you’re considering one, please do thorough research from multiple reputable sources—not just breeders. Ensure you can afford the commitment, as not all monkey species are alike and they remain like toddlers for their entire lives with much longer lifespans than your average cat or dog. Be sure to steer clear of supporting the trade in wild-caught monkeys!

🌟 Meet Christian! 🌟 With five years in vet medicine and a lifelong passion for animal care, Christian brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. His favorite part of the job? Educating both new and experienced reptile owners on the proper care of these often-misunderstood pets. 🦎✨ Christian excels in placing IV catheters, reptile husbandry education, assisting Dr. Haley in surgery, and even pig wrangling! We’re lucky to have his expertise and dedication in our practice. 💚🐾

Meet Lexy, one of our incredible vet assistants at HVP!
When asked about the biggest challenge in her career, Lexy shared, “Not every day goes perfectly, and that’s okay! We’re all human, and mistakes happen. Whether it’s missing a blood draw on the first try or pulling out notes to explain an illness, the support from my team at HVP makes it easier—everyone is always ready to help!”

As for her favorite memory, she said, “I can’t choose just one! My best memories come from the connections I’ve made with our clients and my coworkers. It’s those relationships that make this job so special.”

When asked what Vet Tech Appreciation Week means to her, Lexy reflected, “This job isn’t always puppies and kittens—it’s hard, exhausting, and can be discouraging. Vet Tech Week reminds us that we’re all in this together, working to keep your pets happy and healthy!”

Cassidy has a special knack for tackling abscesses and draining and cleaning them—think Dr. Pimple Popper, but for our furry friends! 🐶💖 If she could choose to be any animal, she’d definitely pick a housecat—imagine napping, eating, and lounging all day! 😺
Her advice for aspiring vet techs and assistants? “Every patient is different! Always be ready to adapt and stay flexible to be the best caregiver you can be.”

🐾✨ It’s Vet Tech Appreciation Week, and today we’re excited to highlight Megan! 🌟
Megan specializes in drawing blood for testing and diagnostics, helping to uncover answers for pets and their owners so we can kickstart their journey to recovery. Her favorite animal? Cats, of course! 🐱💖
One of Megan’s most memorable patient stories involves a brave stray who was hit by a car. He came to us with air in his chest and bleeding from his nose and mouth—things looked grim. As we considered treatment options, this little fighter showed incredible willpower. Thanks to the dedicated care from Megan and the rest of the team, he made a remarkable 100% recovery!
Despite being a stray, Megan couldn’t bear to let him go. She took him home and named him Nemo, and he’s thriving today with Megan and her family, including his fellow cat sibling! 🏠💕
