🩶🐾 Happy Vet Tech Week to the dream team at Haley Vet Practice! 🐾🩶

They draw blood, take X-rays, prep for surgery, calm nerves (both patient and human), and so much more. They bring calm to chaos, comfort to stress, and heart to everything they do — no matter how wild the day gets. Held together by compassion, caffeine, and an incredible amount of teamwork. 🤩

We’ll be celebrating all week long as we spotlight the vet techs who make HVP feel like home. They’re talented, dedicated, and just the right amount of funny. They’re the heart behind every happy patient, and we’re so lucky to call them ours. 🩶✨

🌟 Wildlife Spotlight: The Six-Banded Armadillo

Not all armadillos are the same! The six-banded armadillo is a golden-armored little digger from the grasslands of South America. Unlike the nine-banded armadillo we see here in the U.S., this one is actually diurnal, meaning it is most active during the day.

With six flexible armor bands, strong digging claws, and a great sense of smell, they spend most of their time making burrows and searching for food like insects, roots, and fruit. All that digging doesn’t just keep them safe, it also helps turn the soil and keep their environment healthy.

✨ Proof that the armadillo family is far more diverse than most of us realize.

We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate National Dog Week, than by introducing our staff’s dogs. 🐶🐾 They’re the reason we’re so passionate about what we do. And to our clients, thank you for joining in and posting your pups earlier this week. We loved everyone of them. ♥️

We can’t wait to see your furry friends! 🐶💙

🐇🩺Routine check-ups are the best way to protect your rabbit’s health. Rabbits are prey animals, which means they naturally hide signs of illness until problems become advanced. That’s why even if your bunny seems perfectly fine at home, subtle changes like weight loss, dental overgrowth, or ear infections can be easy to miss.

During a wellness exam, Dr. Haley will check teeth (which never stop growing), listen to the heart and lungs, monitor weight and diet, examine skin and coat, and look for common issues like parasites. These visits allow us to catch health concerns early before they become painful or life-threatening.

Preventive care gives your rabbit the best chance at a long, comfortable, and happy life.🩺🐇

🐶Meet James🐶

James has had a very hard year so far.
He was surrendered to the MACC in Feb of 2025 and adopted out in May of 2025, however they received a call in July. There was a problem.

He was chewing up things he shouldn’t. He wouldn’t respond to a correction, it just wasn’t working.

MACC said they could take him back as soon as they had an intake date available.
Eight days later he was presented to us for euthanasia.

This healthy, happy sweetness of a 2-3 year old pup was going to die because he wasn’t listening……he couldn’t listen…..James……is deaf.

We said no and the owner surrendered him to us……James was ours.

We reached out to Sam and Mya Wolf, at Wolf Hill Kennels. They graciously agreed to let him stay with them so he wouldn’t have to live in a clinic setting until we can get him sorted. Sam and Mya have been working diligently to establish a means of communication with James. Hand signals and some ASL seems to be the bridge in communicating with this sweet boy. He is still learning, obviously, however he is picking up on it brilliantly.

James is now spending time with us several afternoons a week so we can reinforce his training and let him feel like he is in a home. He loves his play time outside and sleeping in “the chair” in Mrs. Becky’s office.

We will soon begin the search for his forever home. He has been tested with other dogs, children, cats and chickens. He has done beautifully with all of them. He will thrive in a home with another dog to play with and take cues from.

Applications for adoption will be available at the office or can be sent via email. An in-home visit along with vet records of other pets will be required to be considered.

This needs to be his last move, his last time to have to acclimate and adjust to a different place. His last time to take a chance on the humans

Please keep our search and the need to find his people in your prayers.

And PLEASE SHARE.

Did you know spaying and neutering rabbits is just as important as it is for cats and dogs? Not only does it prevent unwanted litters, but it also reduces the risk of serious health issues like uterine cancer. It can even help with behavior issues.

We recently took care of Peanut for her spay surgery, and she was so brave! We’re very proud of her people for giving her the best chance at a long, healthy, and happy life. If you haven’t yet scheduled a spay or neuter for your pets, hop to it!
