LVH was fortunate enough to spend time with our amazing volunteer fire department! They wanted to know more about how to help pets they encounter and we wanted to know more about making our facilities as safe as possible. What a fun and educational night for us all! Thank you LVFD for all that you do and for spending time with us!

Guess what we got to do today??? 16 spays and 2 neuters for a local cat rescue!!! Thank you Drs. Zickmann, DeJesus and Molter and vet tech team for your amazing work!!! These cats were spayed/neutered, vaccinated, leukemia tested and microchipped so they can find their forever homes!!!

November is National Canine Lymphoma Awareness🐾 Our friends at Pieper Veterinary, the largest oncology specialty team in the CT, say that lymphoma is one of the most common cancers that they diagnose and treat every day. Early detection is key to improving outcomes, so keep an eye out for symptoms like enlarged lymph nodes, lethargy, and lack of appetite or weight loss. If you notice any changes, contact your vet right away. Let's remember the friends we have lost and those currently struggling.

🎃 Halloween Safety Tips for Your Pets! 🎃
Halloween can be full of fun and frights, but it can also bring a few hazards for our furry friends! Here are some tips to keep your pets safe this spooky season:
1. Keep Treats Out of Reach 🍫 – Chocolate and other sweets (including raisins and the sugar substitute “xylitol”) are toxic to pets. Make sure candy bowls and bags are kept safely out of reach, especially for pets who like to counter-surf!
2. Costume Comfort 👻 – It’s going to be a warm day! If you dress your pets up, make sure the outfit is comfortable, non-restrictive, and doesn’t have small parts they could chew on. Watch for signs of overheating and stress such as rapid panting and lethargy.
3. Doorbell Stress 🚪 – Constant doorbell ringing can stress some pets. Consider keeping them in a quiet room or crate away from the front door to keep them calm. If you have an outdoor cat, make sure they stay inside tonight.
4. Watch Out for Decorations 🎃 – Keep lit candles, cords and wires, and decorations out of reach to prevent accidents.
