Abbott Family Farm

Abbott Family Farm We are a family of 5 all working together to raise animals and grow produce the way nature intended. Each person has a role. We like to know what is in our food!

We are a family of 5 all working together to be more self-sufficient in today's world. We have a large garden, many fruit and nut trees and a whole lot of animals! Learning and then implementing the natural ways to raise and harvest our crops and livestock is our focus. The beautiful Willamette Valley is the perfect place to grow some year round crops so there is never a dull moment here.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and Happy 21st Birthday to Aiden. He will probably be haunted forever by digging post holes by hand and stretching fences. Love you son!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Hank, our beloved livestock guardian dog. Hank was a gentle giant—a big teddy bear who adored our animals and vigilantly protected them from harm, even keeping birds of prey at bay. Despite his imposing size, he had a soft spot for the new baby goats, often choosing to stay by their side. Though he faced hip challenges in his later years, Hank remained the alpha of our pack. He could never get enough love, always leaning in for more scratches, and would often refuse treats until we showered him with enough affection to meet his standard. His unwavering loyalty and watchful presence will be deeply missed by all of us here on the farm. Rest in peace, Hank. You can continue to watch over all of us from your post on the hill. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Our Story

Over the years, we were getting more and more leery of conventional commercial food. When we moved into a house which was on a 1/2 acre, we decided to plant a small garden so that we had some fresh vegetables. Paul jumped right in and loved this new hobby. Our little garden grew leaps and bounds every year until it filled up most of the backyard. We then added chickens, ducks, a turkey and then two goats to the mix. Our gardening style changed almost yearly as we tried to find the method that suited us best. We tried things like a food forest, hugelkultur, permaculture, traditional raised beds, plants on the flat soil, cover crops, composting, and much more.

After talking to many friends and even strangers, it was evident that we were not the only who wanted "real" food .We finally decided that we had outgrown our 1/2 acre and we needed more space to grow food and raise animals. We sold our home and moved to 14 acres in the beautiful Willamette Valley where we would have space to produce naturally raised foods.

Our goal is to use sustainable farming methods and to raise plants and animals as they were intended creating as natural of an environment for them as possible. These highly nutritious foods can then be passed onto you and your family so you can eat naturally as well.
