Canine Provovirus is a highly contagious virus in dogs. Parvovirus has been found in the ground for up to 7 years after exposure. It is spread through contaminated f***s. Some of the common symptoms include lack of appetite,vomiting, Diarrhea ( with or without blood) ,and lethargy. We strongly encrourage pet owners to vaccinate your pets. Puppies should be vaccinated at 6,9,12,and 16 weeks of age. Young puppies have compromised immune systems and the very suceptable to parvo. The puppies should not come into contact with the ground until after their third booster shot. Adult dogs that have been fully vaccinated are usually resistant to the virus.

On , we're sharing a few important reminders on the importance of microchips - such as:

➡ 1 in 3 family pets will get lost
➡ Microchipped dogs are more than twice as likely to be returned to their owners and microchipped cats are more than 20 times as likely to be returned to their owners

Just a reminder to vaccinate your horses as well as your pets against Rabies!!😭😭😵

🚨With reports of a 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 in a horse from Garrard County, it's an important reminder to horse owners that yearly rabies vaccination is imperative. Rabies is always fatal; it's a neurologic disease that also has considerable public health significance. 🚨

The American Association of Equine Practitioners includes rabies in their list of Core Vaccines, meaning that every horse should receive the vaccine, no matter where they are located in the United States, what breed they are, or what they are used for — ALL horses are susceptible to this disease.

Rabies can present as
⚠️ Colic
⚠️ Neurologic issues
⚠️ Lameness
⚠️ Depression
⚠️ Aggression

It's important to note that rabies is transmissible to humans simply through the saliva of the infected horse.

Seasonal Reminder: Fawn Awareness 🦌

As fawning season begins, please remember to check your hayfields and stay alert on the roads. If you encounter an injured fawn, don’t hesitate to reach out to the appropriate wildlife authorities or a licensed rehabilitator.

If the fawn appears healthy and uninjured, do not touch or move it. It is common for mothers to leave their young temporarily—give it at least 24 hours for the mother to return before taking any action.
