When gifting or decorating your house this season, keep in mind these common toxic plants! Lilies, Holly, Mistletoe, and Yew are common in bouquets and wreaths.
-Lilies are very toxic to cats causing kidney damage, vomiting, and lethargy.
-Holly and Mistletoe are toxic to cats and dogs; chewing on the leaves can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and depression.
-Yew is toxic to cats and dogs causing vomiting, difficulty breathing, tremors, and seizures in dogs.
Poinsettias are another common holiday plant that is typically labeled as highly toxic. However, poinsettias are only mildly toxic as the milky sap from the plant causes stomach, oral, or skin irritation upon contact or ingestion.

Arthritis is extremely common and painful in pets, especially as they age. Many treatment options such as Librela, Solensia, or daily joint supplements can help keep your pet thriving, comfortable, and happy!
Today’s photo features one of our staff's own pets Buttercup who has experienced arthritis and is currently using Solensia. “At 20 years old, the only thing slowing Butterscotch down was her arthritis. We started her on Solensia and it brought back her teenage years! She’s making her jumps without having to pull herself up anymore and there are a lot more zoomies!”
If you are concerned your pet may be experiencing symptoms of arthritis give us a call or schedule an appointment online to speak with your veterinarian.

Happy Thanksgiving! Here are some tips to keep your Thanksgiving as relaxing as possible.
-While it may be tempting to share your Thanksgiving feast with your pets, not all foods are safe. Many Thanksgiving classics such as the turkey, stuffing, gravy, and desserts are often cooked with butters, oils, seasonings, and chocolates which can be harmful and even toxic.
-If you plan on hosting Thanksgiving this year ensure your pets have a quiet and safe place to relax away from the crowd.
-Make sure your Thanksgiving trash of turkey bones and food scraps is secured and out of reach of pets.
Scroll to see what some of the Stoney Brook Team is thankful for this year!
