This holiday season we are running a raffle fundraiser to support Long Trail Canine Rescue.

LTCR is a local rescue organization that is dedicated to helping homeless dogs find their forever families. They are an amazing organization that truly wants to make a difference for dogs in need of homes. LTCR relies on donations to rescue dogs from shelter situations and provide all the support they need while in their foster homes awaiting their forever home (medical expenses, food, training, enrichment toys, etc).

We will be raffling off two gift baskets (valued at $200/each) and three $100 Paws 4 Training Gift Certificates. Gift baskets are filled with a variety of wonderful treats, enrichment toys and other dog related items to enjoy with your furry best friend.

Raffle tickets are available for purchase now through December 21st. The raffle drawing will be held on December 21st and I will notify the winners via email or phone.

Raffle Tickets are $10.00/each. You can purchase more than one to increase your chances of winning.
All funds raised go directly to LTCR.

If you are interested in purchasing raffle tickets, please email [email protected] and I can arrange all the details with you.

Please consider donating this holiday season and help give these dogs the forever they deserve! 🐾

**Update: The Friday class is now full but I’ll be adding January sessions to the website soon! 👍🏼

Are you struggling with your dog’s reactivity?

I have a new round of Reactive Rovers beginning next week and still have spots in the Friday 9:30am class.

In this 6-week class you and your dog will learn the skills needed to help you navigate the world more easily. You’ll strengthen the connection with your dog and gain the confidence to help them work thru their triggers.

Please let me know if you are interested in signing up or would like additional information.

Well the weather is getting colder and the nights are getting darker, which means that’s a wrap on Paws in the Park for the season! 🐾❤️

This season was full of amazing groups of dogs & humans…lots of veterans to the class and a whole bunch of newbies!

It was great to see you all working alongside your dogs around all the distractions of the real world.

We can look at recall as a matter of CONTROL:
A dog must obey the whistle just because they must.

Or we can look at recall as a matter of PERSUASION,
I know you want to be over there, I do!
But I can promise you, you'll want to be over here too!

The first perspective feeds resentment, frustration and rejection,
The second perspective feeds excitement, relationship and cooperation.

We get fixed on this idea that dogs should do something just because they're told to,
Taking us away from the idea that dogs are allowed freedom of choice and autonomy.

YES, recall is about safety of the dog and everyone around them,
So give it top priority reinforcement! And remember...

If you want your dog to stick around you,
Be someone to stick around for.

Food, toys, praise, play, ball... None of this is as important as the YOU that is serving up the deliciousness.

Relationship is FUNDAMENTAL to recall.
Ignoring your dog all walk then expecting a recall away from something offering interaction is not going to get you...

A DOG THAT ***WANTS*** TO COME!

Let the relationship with your dog be the lead,
That gives you faith your dog will be only too happy to return to your side,
The moment you offer a promise of goodness.

Never, ever, ever aim to stop rewarding a recall behaviour 🐾💜
