First off, I want to thank you for taking the time to visit my site. I have been around horses since I was very young and have ridden for most of my life. I have three wonderful horses (see below for their individual stories), chickens, 2 cats and 2 dogs that I have rescued. I created Barn Nanny because as a back yard horse owner, I have experience the need to have a knowledgeable and reliable back up. I also had friends in the horse community that shared the same need. One instance was when a friend called me from an out of state horse show she was attending and asked if I would mind putting her horses in the barn since the show was running behind and they wouldn't get home until dark. It created a moment of pause for me and figured that if I was experiencing these circumstances, I am sure other back yard owners are also. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you and Happy Riding! Denise Just a bit about our hooved Fur Babies Angel is our 14 yr old Morab mare that was a barrel racer in her past life before I purchased her May 2014. She's a very sweet, intelligent girl that keeps me on my toes! She has settled in quite nicely & I provide basic care & riding lessons with her. We realized quickly that she wasn't terribly happy being by herself and I brought Beau home. Beau is a 14 yr old Percheron gelding that I purchased sight unseen off a Facebook rescue page. This poor boy was put through 2 slaughter auctions and had a fast approaching timeline to go back to the slaughter lot. His photo captured my heart and although it has been a challenging road with health and lameness issues, I wouldn't change a thing. This boy is my jokester, is amazingly smart, sensitive and now that we have work through his trust issues, he is very sweet.
Samson is a 11 yr old Percheron gelding that I rescued from the slaughter lot in October 2016. He is just over 18 hands and 2,000 lbs. It has taken him some time to settle in and to be not so closed off. He is finally showing his personality and we are now starting him under saddle and driving him. I have learned so much from these horses! It's been quite a journey!
