The Board of Directors for the Humanitarians of Florida, Inc is an all-volunteer non-profit humane organization dedicated to relieving the suffering of animals. Our Board Members work entirely without salary.

We’re happy to announce that we will slowly be reintroducing appointments for ear infections. 🐶🐱
Effective starting August 18th.

If your pet has been dealing with ear discomfort, itching, head shaking, or any other ear concerns, please give us a call to discuss scheduling. Availability will be limited at first as we work these cases back into our routine, but we’re excited to help your pets feel better again! 💙

He is a 8 year old neutered male. He is a big boy, at a whopping 19.5lbs. He will need to be on a strict diet.

The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) has issued a 𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙩 following a confirmed case involving a cat captured near Berkshire Ave. in Inverness on June 23.

DOH-Citrus and our Animal Control Unit are actively monitoring rabies activity in the wild animal population, and this alert will remain in effect for the 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝟲𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀:

🐾 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪:

Rabies is present in our local wildlife, and both residents and visitors should take extra precautions. Avoid contact with wild animals, including stray or feral cats. If you, your pets, or your livestock are exposed to an animal that may have rabies, 𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙚 medical or veterinary attention is critical.

𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙥𝙨:

➤ Keep your pets’ rabies vaccinations up to date.

➤ Don’t leave pets unsupervised outside, and never allow them to interact with wild or stray animals.

➤ If your pet or livestock has been bitten or scratched, call your vet right away and report it to our non-emergency line at 352-249-2790.

➤ Don’t feed or approach wild or stray animals, and secure things like pet food, trash, or bird seed that might attract them.

➤ Never try to care for or bring home a wild animal - contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator instead.

➤ If you are bitten or scratched, seek medical help immediately and report it to DOH-Citrus at 352-726-1121.
