I have been asked for a descripton of what grooming looks like with me. So, here it is 😊
When your dog first arrives they are allowed to walk around and get comfortable. If they are good with other dogs they will play with my three for a little while before their spa day. For dogs who are reactive or prefer not to socialize that is ok too, I have a separate area for mine while I give yours my complete attention.
Once they are ready, we will head to the dog tub, which is currently in our upstairs bathroom. They will receive a nice bath with either oatmeal or de-shedding shampoo. They get a quick towel dry and then it’s down to the grooming room where they will get a complete blow dry using a high velocity dryer (no heat). From there we will move on to their nails and hair cut.
I use a dremel specific for dogs to ensure I get their nails short and smooth. I have a cordless clipper I use with various size blades and guard combs for hair cuts. To finish up I will use my scissors to do their face, feet (I shave paw pads as well) tail and ears. If ear hair needs to be plucked I will do that as well. They will get a brush out, doggy cologne and neck scarf to finish out their spa day.
I am a Fear Free groomer, which means I will not push your dog to do anything they are scared of. I will work with them to show them that they are safe and that I am not going to hurt them. This sometimes takes time and multiple visits before they “get it”. Your dogs safety, comfort and well being is my top priority.
