Happy National Senior Pet Month!

November is a special time to celebrate our beloved senior pets. Here are a few ways to celebrate your senior pet this month:

- Give them extra love and attention. Spend quality time cuddling, playing, or hanging out with your senior pet.
- Make sure they're getting regular exercise and healthy food. Senior pets may need a little less exercise than they used to, but keeping them moving is still essential. And make sure they're eating a nutritious diet that's appropriate for their age.
- Take them to regular vet checkups. Senior pets are more likely to develop health problems, so taking them to the vet for regular checkups is essential to ensure they're doing okay.
- Consider adopting a senior pet. Many senior pets in shelters are just waiting for a loving home. If you're considering adding a pet to your family, please consider opening your heart and home to a senior pet.

Before we dive headfirst into pumpkin spice lattes and cozy sweaters, let’s not forget about a fall health checklist for dogs. We have checklists for the kiddos heading off to another school year and for our home as we head for cooler temperatures. Our fur babies deserve some TLC and attention to their health as well. Completing an annual dog check-up checklist is the best way to care for your devoted fur baby.
1. Schedule a check-up with your vet
2. Clear your yard of acorns and pinecones
3. Stock Up on Pet Paw Protection
4. Visit a Groomer to Prepare Your Pup for Winter
5. Invest in Joint Medication

Happy November! November is Pet Cancer Awareness Month, which serves as an important reminder about the importance of regular yearly check-ups with your veterinarian!

Depending on the individual pet, there are various tools that can be used to detect cancer in cats and dogs, including blood and urine tests, biopsy, cytology, and diagnostic imaging. The diagnosis of cancer in dogs and cats is not always straightforward and may require extensive research using a variety of tests.

Are you concerned about your pet's health? The veterinarians at Chipman Road Animal Clinic have the right tools and techniques to test your pet to figure out the reason your pet is sick and then prepare a plan of action to get your adored pet feeling better as soon as possible. Bring in your pet during our open hours to get your sick pet seen as soon as possible.

We hear a lot about food allergies these days, but did you know that it’s actually more likely for dogs to be allergic to their surroundings? Just like in people, dog seasonal allergies are quite common.

Unlike food or medication allergies, which can be found at any time, dog seasonal allergy symptoms are seen during specific times of the year. The same allergens that cause a reaction in humans, such as dander, grasses, weeds, trees, insects, pollen, and mold, can cause dog allergy symptoms.

UPDATE: ADOPTED

We are STILL looking for Charger’s forever home! This sweet boy has had quite a journey these last few weeks. After being rescued from a bush on the Caribbean island of St. Croix, traveling all the way back to KC, and watching his 2 sisters get homes, Charger is more than ready to get settled into a home of his own! He has the sweetest, most fun personality and we know he will make his future family so happy! Charger gets along well with other dogs and would have no problem adjusting to an already established pet home. He’s very ready to give someone love, he is just waiting for someone to love him back!

Please help us find this sweet baby his forever home!
