Happy Birthday Benjamin! All he asked for was a new rooster and a plastic owl to scare away the hawk that has been hanging around the chickens. We think it attacked and killed our beloved Billy.

He was definitely loved and will be missed. I still look for him every time in go outside.

If you know anyone looking to rehome a rooster please let us know. I found an owl at Tractor Supply, but I haven’t found a rooster yet.

Good Morning! It’s been a while since we posted. It’s just been crazy here caring for the girls while dealing with the weather.

On top of the weather our beloved Boss Lady goy very sick. With the help of Google, Ben and I were able to nurse her back to health! 😀

We rescued three new girls that I can’t wait to Introduce to you and we are in the process of getting turkeys and a few more chickens.

To help with the cost of feeding them I plan to start offering baked items, canned goods, and hopefully fresh produce this summer.

In case you ever questioned how amazing this kid is…..

When Ben is not saving chickens he is helping out as a childhood cancer advocate. You may have seen him in a few The Truth 365 childhood cancer awareness posts. Where ever he is asked to help out he says yes without question.

This is him posing before a public service announcement video he was to be in. They were tying to raise awareness of the different types of childhood cancer. In the video his sister Grace was the cure. She wrestled the twelve different types of childhood cancer. In the end she took down, “brain cancer” (Ben) with a 5 point throw.

The camera guy kept asking for retakes. Even though getting thrown over and over was no fun, Ben showed up.

I just wanted you to see more of the amazing kid you’re supporting. Ben is the best! I love this guy and am so incredibly proud to be his mom.

Meet Ruby the Red Head

It’s bath time for Ruby. She was one of the sickest girls we have ever rescued, but we never gave up on her.

Ruby came to us with a pr*****ed, bumble foot, vent gleet, chicken mites, and chicken lice. Thank God humans can’t get chicken lice. I was getting tired of putting on my yellow rain slicker and complete PPE every time I had to give her an Epson salt bath.

She is now lice and mite free, her prolapse is fixed, bumble foot treated, and we ALMOST have her Vent Gleet completely healed up! It’s taken TEN epson salt soaks and a lot of TLC to get get here, but we are committed.

It won’t be long before she will be able to join the rest of the girls!

(Hopefully my husband doesn’t see her in the kitchen sink! 😂)

The girls have been busy. We have tons of eggs and interest, but so far no one picked any up.

Would anyone be interested in me delivering them eggs today? If money is an issue, please send me a DM and we will gift you some.

If you don’t want eggs, but would still like to help you can do so by:

Purchasing eggs donating them to a family in need or a family in the childhood cancer community.

Donating to his fundraiser or purchasing an item off of his Amazon chicken wishlist.

Saving him your egg cartons.

Donating your unused chicken supplies, coops, fencing, food, bedding, gift cards, helping us find a carpenter, or by sharing his page.

I don’t want to let Ben and his dream of a chicken rescue down. The girls are doing so much better. He spends every second of his free time caring for them and it is showing.

➡️Wood Ash - We need wood ash for the chicken’s dust baths. If you or someone you know burns wood ash they would save for us we could desperately use it. How it helps: If there are any parasites already on the chickens, they will suffocate from the ashes.

➡️Sand - If you are getting rid of a sandbox or Jane extra bags of sand lying around we would line the take it off your hands. How it helps: Fine sand or dirt keeps their feathers in pristine condition and helps them stay free of mites, lice and other parasites.

➡️The Name of a Carpenter - I am not originally from the area and therefore don’t really know anyone to hire to help build a chicken coop and run. Ben has been saving money for the project and I’d hate to hire someone that would take advantage of him. If you know someone that is good and fair I would love their contact information.

➡️Egg Customers - Many people have expressed interest in purchasing Ben’s eggs, but we have yet to have anyone actually purchase any. He is selling eggs to raise money to purchase food and bedding so he can continue to rescue chickens.

🌶🫑🌶🫑I will also be selling pickled peppers, salsa, cowboy candy, relish, scrubbies, books and more!!🌶🫑🌶

The girls absolutely love the treats!! Today Grace and I spread about 25 pounds of Diatomaceous Earth on the ground, in the coops, and on the chickens. Once they are in for the night we’ll get the ones we missed and give Boss Lady a foot spa for her Bumble Foot.

It’s a slow process, but we will get there.

Ben came flying upstairs screaming, “It’s just like Christmas!”. Possibly the only kid I know excited to get chicken supplies in the mail.

Meet Boss Lady, one of our favorite girls. She came to us with the worse case of Bumble Foot I’ve ever seen, missing feathers, and a whole host of issues.

Currently she is doing great. We are still working on her feet, but she is now able to sleep on the root at night and her feather are starting to look oh, so much better. I can’t wait to see how amazing she will look a month from now.

What color eggs do you think she lays?

Meet Ben. He is trying to raise money to start his own chicken rescue. He’s selling eggs to help offset the costs associated with rescuing chickens.

He spends his day researching and talking about chickens, making PowerPoint presentations to convince us he is ready for more chickens, talking about Silkies, wrestling, playing with caring for his chickens and hanging out with his siblings.
