Join us on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 for a morning of volunteering at the animal shelter!

This activity is for children ages 10-12, and involves an educational presentation followed by a tour of the shelter and time volunteering in the kennels, helping with cleaning and creating enrichment items for the animals in our care.

Drop off is at 9AM, and children should be picked up at 11:30AM. Please note, the shelter will be closing at 12PM.

There is no fee to attend this program, but donations are appreciated! We are most in need of:

We need your help to find a special home for a very special puppy. Meet Niko! This little guy has been diagnosed with megaesophagus, a condition that affects his ability to swallow food properly. But Niko doesn't let that get him down—he’s just a joyful puppy who thinks life is one big adventure! Whether it's playing all day, cuddling up at night, or even sitting in his special mealtime chair (which he thinks is the best thing ever!), Niko fills every moment with tail wags and love.

Dogs with this type of diagnosis do have a shorter life expectancy—typically just 1-2 years from diagnosis. But that doesn’t stop us from believing that Niko deserves a life full of love, family, and care for however long it may be. If you think you might be the right fit for this lovable little pup, come meet Niko! We are open for adoptions 11am-6pm.

Can you take our cats from "Construction Zone" to "Home Sweet Home?" 🏗➡️🏠
Adoption fees are waived for all cats 7 months and up starting today, Friday, November 1, 2024 through Sunday, November 3, 2024.

The cat area at the shelter is undergoing construction work next week and as a result, we will need to empty all of our cat intake kennels. Our cat kennels are full, so we need your help to make some space!

Happy Halloween! Want to hear something spooky? Glen has been waiting for a home for over 100 days! 😱

To help him get out of the shelter and into a home, he's getting a seasonal makeover and we're renaming him Marshmallow!

He's round, white and has a little extra fluff around the edges! He loves pets, attention and quiet time snoozing in the sun (don't let him melt! 🤣) Much like a marshmallow, you might have to carry him for the majority of your hikes, but he is always down to relax around the campfire or play a game of toss! Best of all, he never puts his ears up for photos, which leaves the door wide open for all your best photoshop ideas.

Is Marshmallow the dog for you? He would love to find a home with humans that are all old enough to drive him around and other dog friends that are equally laid-back! Stop by the shelter and ask about Marshmallow today!

Choo-choo! All aboard the Hot Mess Express! 🚂

A few of our shelter animals have found themselves on the "Hot Mess Express" and they are ready to find loving homes that appreciate their unique quirks and charms. To help them earn a fast-pass on their journey, we’re waiving adoption fees and shining a spotlight on their lovable personalities!

Next up, Bunson! This feline dynamo oozes confidence and cool—like a cat version of James Bond, if Bond had a penchant for love nibbles and dramatic mood swings. Bunson adores everyone, showering you with affection one minute and then launching into a high-speed chase after his own tail the next.

His life motto? “Why settle for calm when you can be a delightful whirlwind?” Bunson’s therapist has a standing appointment for him, just in case he needs to process his feelings about pouncing on toes. From dramatic flops to adorable snuggles, one thing's for sure: life with Bunson is never dull.

First up, meet Shiloh! This toothless wonder is about 14 years young and full of life. Shiloh has bravely faced some health challenges, having undergone surgery to remove bladder stones and a testicular tumor. Now, he’s tumor-, stone-, and tooth-free, and he’s looking for a cozy place to spend his golden years. Shiloh enjoys the company of equally relaxed friends who love soaking up the sun. Could you be the perfect match for this sweet senior pup?

Stonder had the best time on his field trip! He got to roll in the crunchy leaves and explore all the fall smells!

Our field trip volunteer said he was a very good boy on the leash and loved the car ride as well!

It was a big day for this little puppy! Heeling House stopped by to evaluate her last week for their service dog program and decided she was a perfect fit! She is heading off to start training through the Service Puppy Program at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. We wish her all the best as she starts this journey towards becoming a service dog for a child in the greater Washington D.C area!
