Sweet Simon was dealt a rough hand. He was hit by a car and had two broken legs that needed to be repaired by an orthopedic surgeon. The amazing surgeon was able to place pins in both legs so that Simon didn’t have to lose his legs. He fully healed and went on to be adopted into an amazing family. Your donations ensure we can help every animal like Simon that goes to Loudoun County Animal Services bruised and broken.

Did you start your garden early and now have more greens than you can use? Or maybe you got a little too excited at the grocery store and ended up with extra lettuce? Either way, our shelter’s small animals would be thrilled to help!

They love fresh greens and veggies as part of their daily diet, and your extras can make a big difference. If you have surplus greens, consider signing up for a donation drop-off! Sign up here: https://signup.com/go/qzKVVeD

Please check the list below for the types of greens we can accept. Thank you for thinking of the animals at the shelter!

🐹Leafy greens like romaine lettuce, red and green leaf lettuces, mustard, beet or turnip greens, cabbage, kale, cilantro and parsley

Oh, so you fancy yourself a connoisseur of the classics? A devotee of the delightfully decrepit? Do you have a soft spot for the seasoned, the storied, the downright antique? Do you like your feline friends with a little extra... character?

Well, darling, have we got the cats for you! Our lineup of senior kitties is nothing short of iconic—ranging from "shockingly well-preserved" to "rocking the full crypt-keeper aesthetic" to “held together by vibes and a strong will to snack.” The adoption kennels are giving "golden years" realness.

Crusty eyes? Check. Kidneys on the fritz? You bet. Fur thinner than your patience? Absolutely. If you’re ready to adopt a cat with more life experience than some influencers, come meet your new old bestie today!

Our Wise Whisker cats are just $25 to adopt and come with a starter pack of goodies to help them settle into their new homes! Plus, they’re all part of our Seniors for Seniors program—meaning if you’re 60 or older, you can adopt one of these distinguished felines for free!

Cat owners are encouraged to keep their pets indoors to protect them from wildlife and potential disease exposure.

Bird flu has been documented in cats, as well as in songbirds and mice that outdoor cats often encounter. If your outdoor cat shows any signs of illness, it’s best to consult a veterinarian. Learn more about preventative measures against bird flu at loudoun.gov/BirdFlu

The other day, we got a call about a surprise visitor—a fluffy little puppy who had casually strolled onto a front porch and decided to make himself at home. The kind homeowners did the right thing and reported him as found, so Humane Law Enforcement Officer Acosta headed over to pick up the unexpected guest.

Officer Acosta scooped up the pup and was just about to drive off when—ring ring!—our dispatch received another call. Just a few houses down, a worried dog owner was reporting his furry friend missing. The description? A perfect match!

Officer Acosta was able to reunite the pup with his very relieved human in no time! We’re grateful to the kind finders for filing a found report and to the owners for reporting their lost pet. These reports are what make happy reunions like this possible!

If you ever find or lose a pet in Loudoun County, give us a call at 703-777-0406 to file a report—we’re here to help bring pets home!
