Dr. Larry Beall has been practicing over 30 years and his staff is knowledgeable, friendly and educated. We offer puppy/kitten & annual vaccines, microchipping, therapeutic laser therapy, x-rays with the option to send to a radiologis

This dog came to us exhibiting these symptoms and had a litter of puppies 2 weeks before. Do any of you know what she's suffering from? Her condition is known as eclampsia or milk fever. The signs of eclampsia are fairly easy to recognize, they include: restlessness, nervousness, stiff gait, may wobble or appear disoriented. Eventually the dog may be unable to walk, their body temperate may reach 105 degrees, and their respiratory rate will increase. Treatment for eclampsia includes intravenous calcium supplements and/or puppy milk replacer orally. Over-supplementation of calcium during pregnancy may increase the risk of eclampsia. The body adds calcium to bones and then removes it as needed. If a dog receives increased amounts of calcium during pregnancy her body's production greatly decreases. When the dog suddenly needs large amounts of calcium for milk production the system is not ready to start removing it from it bone, because the blood calcium levels drop suddenly the body produces signs of eclampsia. This dog survived and is doing very well.

For over 20 years, Dr. Larry Beall has been providing quality animal care to the Leesville area with the support of his knowledgeable, friendly, and educated staff. Some of the services we provide for companion animals are: vaccines, microchipping, laser therapy, digital x-rays, in-house blood work, effective heartworm treatment, allergy treatments, flea/tick products, boarding/kenneling, spaying/neutering, and general care. For our large animal patients, we offer teeth floating, Coggins testing, vaccines, and general care -- we even offer farm calls. Please give us a call, and we can set up the perfect time to care for your pet! Our hours are Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. We are also open the first and third Saturday each month from 9am to noon (by appointment only). *We do not provide grooming services at our facility, but we do have business cards for local groomers.
