Meet Bowie!
This 10-month-old pitbull is your classic stubborn, meathead goofball—but he’s also smart, affectionate, and full of potential. He was recently here for our board and train program to work on a few things his family has been struggling with.

First up: obedience⚡️
Bowie knows some basics, but getting a quick and reliable response has been a challenge—especially when he’s feeling extra independent. We’re working on building solid commands and putting a stop to his big jump hugs when greeting guests and family.

But the biggest concern is food aggression ⚠️. Bowie growls if anyone comes near him during meals or when he has a high-value treat. He even becomes aggressive while his food is being prepared—no one can go near him. With two young kids at home, this behavior is a serious concern for his family.

Right now, the safest routine is crating him during food prep, then letting him out to eat while everyone gives him space. Thankfully, he eats fast—but that’s not a long-term solution.

Our goal? To help Bowie feel secure, calm, and respectful around food, and to build trust with the people who love him most ❤️. He’s got a big personality and an even bigger heart—and we’re excited to help him shine.

Meet Teddy, a 4-year-old Yorkie stepping up his training game in our private lessons! His brother, Charlie the Yorkipoo, completed our 2-week board and train a few months ago—now it’s Teddy’s time to shine!

At his second lesson last Thursday, Trainer Kelsy worked on the place command. Teddy struggled at first but ended on a high note, mastering the command like a champ! Plus, he was rocking his Eagles gear, showing off his team spirit ahead of the big game.

And speaking of the big game—congrats to the Philadelphia Eagles on their Super Bowl win! 🦅🎉

We’ve made strides with Kali and Bruno over the past week. First, we worked with them individually to solidify commands, introduce e-collar conditioning, and address their separation anxiety. Once they grew more confident on their own, we brought them together—muzzles on at first for safety—but now they’re hanging out muzzle-free, working together, and even making new friends along the way!

Meet Bruno and Kali! These two almost 3-year-old Black and Tan Coonhounds were rescued at one year old, and they’re here for a 2-Week Board and Train program. Their parents love them to pieces but could use help with:

• Leash Manners – They’re notorious pullers!
• Barking – At people, dogs, and even in the car.
• Command Stability – They don’t stay in their commands consistently.
• Excitability & Aggression – Lately, they’ve had a couple of scuffles with each other, which has required muzzle management.

Their folks have been handling the situation really well and even managed a few days at home without muzzles before bringing them to us! However, life changes (the loss of a third dog and a recent move) may have caused extra stress and contributed to their unusual behavior.

We’re excited to work with Bruno and Kali. They are total sweethearts, and we can’t wait to help them (and their parents) discover a healthier, calmer, and more adventurous way of life!

We’ve had a fantastic group of board and train pups join us recently! Each one brought unique challenges.

Leia, an 8-month-old cockapoo, came to us to work on following commands in distracting environments, staying calm around other people and dogs, stopping her habit of jumping on people, and achieving off-leash reliability.

Denver, a 9-month-old German Shepherd from K9 von Timber, had a solid foundation in obedience and was mostly reliable off-leash. However, he needed help addressing his aggression reactivity toward other dogs while reinforcing his commands in more challenging public settings.

Charlie, a 5-year-old Yorkipoo, had a lot to learn. He needed help with basic obedience, improving reliability with commands, and addressing excessive barking and reactivity toward people and dogs, whether on walks or even through the window at home. He also pulled constantly on the leash and required a transition from p*e pads to pottying outside. Off-leash obedience was a bonus goal for this little guy!

We’re so proud of their progress and can’t wait to share updates on how far they’ve come!

If you remember Kali, the stunning Rhodesian Ridgeback, she joined us for a 3-week board and train to help her overcome her fears and build confidence. We’re excited to share some of her progress!

During her stay, we focused on gradually exposing Kali to new environments beyond her comfort zone, like unfamiliar trails, stores, and busier streets. Initially, she was only confident at home or the dog park, but through consistent training, we helped expand her comfort level step by step.

As a balanced training team, we tailored our approach to meet her needs, using a mix of techniques to help her understand expectations and build trust. One of the biggest milestones was getting Kali safely off-leash, allowing her to enjoy more freedom. This was a huge achievement for a dog as fearful as she was, and it’s been incredible to see her gain confidence and embrace the opportunity to explore with more independence.

Her leash manners have improved significantly, her response to commands is now more reliable, and she’s showing so much more courage in environments that once felt overwhelming.

If you remember Ruby, the sweet rescued pitbull mix, who joined us a little while ago for a 2-week board and train focused on building her obedience skills and confidence.

Throughout her training, Ruby tackled all kinds of distractions and environments head-on. From busy sidewalks to local parks, she practiced her commands in real-world settings, proving just how much she’s grown. We worked on off-leash reliability, leash manners, and staying calm in the face of new sights and sounds.

Her transformation has been incredible! Ruby’s focus and responsiveness have improved significantly, and she’s become much more comfortable and confident exploring new places.

Meet Chance, the lovable Pitbull, and Honey, the spirited Golden Retriever—our two most recent board and train stars! Both pups joined us for a 2-week program to gain off-leash reliability and freedom, focusing on listening to commands the first time instead of letting them go in one ear and out the other. They learned to stay neutral and calm around all kinds of distractions, a huge step toward their training goals!

Not only did they soar through the program with flying colors, but Chance and Honey also became the best of buddies during their stay. 🐾 Watching them grow and thrive has been amazing, and we're so proud of how far they’ve come!

We recently had the pleasure of working with two incredible pups! Ruby, a sweet rescued pitbull mix, joined us for a 2-week board and train focused on basic and advanced obedience, off-leash reliability, and navigating public distractions. Kali, a stunning Rhodesian Ridgeback, stayed with us for 3 weeks to help overcome her fears of anything outside her comfort zone—she was only confident at home or at the dog park, but we worked on expanding that.

It’s always rewarding to help dogs gain the skills and confidence they need to thrive in any situation! We’re so proud of their progress.

We’ve been a bit quiet lately, taking some time to make exciting moves and changes. Plus, we took a much-needed vacation to recharge. Last night, we were treated to the stunning sight of the aurora borealis right from home—truly magical, especially with our dog by our side.

“Load Up!” Stella’s mom and dad noted how important it was for Stella to be able to willingly hop in the car when they wanted to take her places. Prior to training, Stella would straight up refuse to jump in, often trying to back out of her harness, and she was a flight risk. We work hard on loading in and out of the car with each dog in our 2- and 3-week board and trains. In just two sessions, we had Stella loading up into the car when asked without any hesitation. Not only that, but also immediately entering the kennel (which we use for safety measures when transporting dogs) and patiently sitting so we could close the kennel door. Rocky was such a fun, little dude that was a pleasure to train!
