Listening to Stewart eating watermelon is the most ridiculous (and slightly terrifying) thing I think I've ever heard in a while. Volume up, you won't regret it.
Late night Hope update... vet visit went better than we ever could have imagined. Heart and lungs sound great. She did have some parasites, but nothing too horrific. She got an initial treatment at the vet and will follow up at home. Other than that we're just dealing with some road rash and ammonia burns, which we're treating. She's now graduated from the bathtub to a large crate in my bedroom, which she seems to like. She's very vocal about asking for attention anytime I walk in the room.
Went to check on Hope a few minutes ago and was happy to see that she wasn't pressed against the side of the tub and hiding her face. And after trying a few different types of feed we finally found one that she liked enough to eat a little bit. It's higher in protein than she needs but it will do until I can get to the feed mill tomorrow. She's scared and I know she's uncomfortable, but I think she's starting to realize that she's safe.
And Stewart met Thea Louise, plus our goat friends Miles and Percy.
Finally finished the front yard extension for the indoor kids today. Miss Tinkle Toes really appreciates having a more shady place to get her exercise. She walked almost the entire perimeter without a single treat. I am so proud of her !
Tomorrow marks four weeks since Miss Tinkle Toes came to be a Refugee, and she's definitely made me work to gain her trust. You see, Miss Tinkles doesn't like pellets, and she's not fond of most veggies either, which makes getting proper nutrition into her quite a challenge. We've spent four weeks trying different pellets and veggies, and attempting to hide healthy foods in not-so-good stuff to get her to eat. Today we found the magic combination that she will eat without having to hide everything in scrambled eggs and spoon feed her her stubborn butt. EPIC WIN !!!
I think the squash has been her favorite snack so far.
