PARRIS is a 2 year old, neutered, 20 lb. Cocker Spaniel available for adoption at Brunswick Sheriff's Animal Services in Supply. Surrendered by his owner, Parris arrived severely matted with both ears extremely infected, and that is putting it mildly.

FFAR provided medical care and grooming and this little angel is ear infection free and healthy! Parris is smart, loving, thrives on human connection and is full of young pup energy. Due to the ear infections it became evident he is not able to hear but with the right owner this will not be an issue, he is food driven, affectionate, attentive and trainable. Parris is a VERY SWEET boy who had a rough start to life and no care as can be seen from the intake picture. He is learning humans can be kind and loving and he so deserves a loving home.

Parris is current on vaccinations and has a microchip. Interested adopters may contact BCSAPS directly. PLEASE SHARE and hopefully get him out of the shelter before the storm.

⁉️Did you know Wilmington has about 600 unhoused individuals, many of whom have pets.

With that being said, we are fundraising to start a local chapter of Street Dog Coalition in the Wilmington area. Their mission is to provide (primarily preventative) veterinary care and related services to pets who’s owners are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

Monitory Donations can be accpeted in person at Capeside or by using the QR code provided in this post that will go directly to the Wilmington fund. If writing a check please make it out to “The Street Dog Coalition” with “Wilmington” wrote in the Memo. These can be dropped of at Capeside or mailed directly to them at:

Happy Monday News - Buddy is flourishing in his foster home. He enjoys being outside exploring the yard, taking short leash walks and he even has a new friend. He is exactly where he needs to be at this point in his life. Thank you foster mom Veronica for bringing him into your home and showing him what a good life is all about.

DRUMROLL PLEASE.....BUDDY transferred to German Shepherd Rescue and Adoption today. Thanks to the medical care from the staff at Capeside Animal Hospital and Dr. Melissa Stoll with CCVS, Buddy has improved immensely since being run over by a truck a month ago and progressed to taking several short leash walks a day.

Michele (red shirt standing) was Buddy's main caregiver and the lady with the huge smile sitting with Buddy is Alicia who was instrumental in making a connection with GSR. Unfortunately with all the excitement of Buddy's transfer, a picture of his awesome foster mom Veronica was not taken but rest assured Buddy is in the best of hands!

Buddy will be available for adoption when he has recovered fully from the injuries through GSR.

Buddy is progressing well since his hip surgery last week. So far, he has no interest in other dogs, prefers to be inside versus outside and feels safe in his kennel. Please keep Buddy in your thoughts and spread the word about him. Still waiting on a rescue group to agree take this handsome boy. He is a diamond in the ruff! 🐾

This very handsome boy is Buddy, a 7-month-old 50 lb. German Shepherd brought to FFAR by way of the NW Police Department.

Buddy’s owner ran over him and drove away, yes, drove away leaving Buddy laying on the ground in excruciating pain. Thankfully, a neighbor came home shortly after the incident, saw Buddy laying on the ground and contacted the NW Police Department for assistance.

Because of the incident, Buddy suffered a fractured pelvis and hip. Surgery was done last week to correct the hip fracture; the pelvis will heal on its own over the next few 2-3 months. Buddy will be on restricted activity for several weeks for both issues and he is expected to have a full recovery.

Buddy has a sweet disposition and handes his medical care at Capeside Animal Hospital well. He is heartworm negative, parasite free, neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. It is unknown how he interacts with other dogs or cats at this time.

Buddy will be able to leave the hospital soon and FFAR is actively searching for an animal rescue group to accept Buddy into their organization for foster and adoption. FFAR will continue to treat and pay all costs associated with the incident until he has been cleared from medical care.

Introducing Riley, a male 10 year old, 15 lb. Chihuahua mix in need of a new home. Riley's owner passed away and there were no family members to care for him. Riley has a very sweet disposition, playful, friendly, LOVES attention and human contact. It is very sad that after 10 years of living with a family he finds himself in this situation.

Riley is neutered and current on vaccinations but does have heartworms, is in need of a dental cleaning and correction of a small protruding gland in both eyes. FFAR and Brunswick County Animal Protective Services are doing a joint effort for this deserving boy. FFAR is providing medical treatment for all of these fixable issues and BCAPS is providing foster and adoption.

Introducing BUFFY, a friendly, affectionate and loyal 8 year old, 20 lb. healthy spayed female, current on vaccinations and microchipped in need of a new home. Due to a family medical situation, Buffy will no longer be able to remain with the owner she has known for several years. The owner is devastated to lose Buffy but needs to find a suitable home for Buffy within the next few weeks. Buffy is a former FFAR rescue.

Buffy is believed to be a Corgi mix, born with no tail and missing a few teeth which never came in, remaining teeth are healthy and in good shape. Buffy is housetrained, loves to run in a fenced yard walks well on a leash and has been sleeping in bed with her owner since day one. She is good with most other dogs, cats unknown.

Courtesy Post for sweet 'Franky' - available for adoption through the Chihuahua Rescue and Transport Southeast Region, the foster family is local in Brunswick County.

Franky is believed to be 6 years old. Little Franky found himself at a high risk kill shelter for unknown reasons and CRT scooped him up. Franky has a white coat with tan highlights, tan ears, and an underbite that is very cute and comical!

Franky is an extremely happy little guy with a tail that wags and wags. He absolutely loves to go for a walk and is perfectly leash trained. He’s also happy to lounge in the sun on his own or with others, in a fenced yard. He’s very smart and figured out which door go to and how to signal that he needed to go out within an hour of being in his foster home. He’s a champion snuggler and will be happy to spend hours cuddled up with his person. He’ll fluff up his blanket and settle in for as long as you want.

Franky seems to like all people and dogs in general. He’s generally fine with cats but will occasionally give chase or try to play with them. He likes to play with his toys and can amuse himself or play fetch with you. It is recommended that Franky go to a home that does not have young children since any unintentional rough handling may be outside of his comfort zone.

It’s possible that Franky had some sort of trauma in his past, given that he has a few broken teeth and cataracts in one eye with evidence of past injury. This does not affect his quality of life. He’s been neutered and recently had a dental. His teeth are crooked but healthy! He has a healthy appetite and enjoys a treat now and then, too!

This adorable and sweet boy has come a long way since coming into foster care. His foster family is enamored with him, as are his two chi foster sisters. He’s happy and healthy and ready for his forever home. He is heartworm positive, and his treatment will be covered by CRT. For this reason, he will be considered “foster to adopt” until he tests negative. That should not deter anyone from choosing this awesome pup – he’ll be a wonderful companion for life!

Exciting news to share, Dylan has been adopted! It did not take long for this sweet boy to melt his new mom's heart and for Dylan and new canine sister Lucy to connect with one another. Lucy has already taught Dylan how to get on the couch and walk around the fish pond. Thank you to everyone at Capeside Animal Hospital who helped Dylan readjust this past week, especially Mercedez and Cody. Dylan is home now and settling in nicely. 🙂🐾❤

DYLAN, one of ChickFilA's puppies was returned today due to a family medical situation and by NO FAULT OF HIS! The family is heartbroken to lose him but it is in Dylan's best interest to find a new forever home.

Dylan, previously Blue, was born on 10/28/23, has been neutered, given age appropriate vaccinations and microchipped. Dylan is a super good boy, friendly, loving and happy, does well with other dogs and currently weighs 40 lbs.

ChickFilA, now named Precious, realized she was finally home and settled into her new life with ease. She picked out her favorite bed to rest and watch television (tv is new to her) and is enjoying taking long walks with her family. A very happy and well deserved ending to this girls's journey - her new life has begun, she is HOME🐾🐾.

A big shout out to Dr. Hanby for rescuing this gem, she has touched so many hearts. ❤

DRUMROLL PLEASE.....CHICK FIL A has been adopted and her new mom is overjoyed as can be seen in this photo. CFA has two new canine siblings to play with in a large fenced yard. CFA is missed already by FFAR and the Capeside team who cared for her the past 5 months. She will be back to visit her friends at the hospital the next few months while she goes through heartworm treatments. She was the perfect patient and houseguest!

Thank you to everyone who donated in anyway towards CFA and her 9 puppies care - whether it was food, treats, monetary donations or time walking momma, everything was greatly appreciated!
