To my former clients & friends, while my current health & physical condition does not yet allow me to take pet sitting & dog walking on full time again, I’m looking to have a “Soft Reopening” for my cat clients. I am not yet physically able to walk pups, because of my leg surgery.
But if you have cats, and need care, please message me.
I’m hoping that with the physical therapy I’m in and my current full time job that I will eventually be strong enough to completely reopen Paw Petters.
But until then, I’m accepting bookings for cats, and other small animals including reptiles, birds, and rodents.
Just let me know!!!
Much love to everyone!!!

As a pet sitter, some of your clients just find their ways into your heart like they’re one of your own. These two pup’s definitely did. Peyton especially. He’s the one on the left. He very recently crossed over the rainbow bridge. I will FOREVER miss him. He was such a gentle soul. And I’m sure his sister Lilo is missing him horribly along with their owner. She’s become a friend over the course of me caring for them and we’ve kept in touch after the closing of the business. I just wanted to take a moment to honor Peyton. He was the best, sweetest Weimaraner I’ve ever met. I will forever miss his gentle spirit and his crazy zoomies when he got excited.

Hello to anyone who still follows this page.
I just wanted to update everyone.
I currently hit my ONE YEAR anniversary at my current full time job at the Circle K on River rd. I was promoted(!!!) a few months ago to Food Captain.
My latest visit to Duke showed no new growths or any concerns. I’ll be traveling back again in May for more tests. I’ve reached the “every 6 month” mark.
I still have a long road ahead. I’m currently fighting with my insurance to approve a permanent feeding tube placement since I will never be able to swallow enough to sustain healthy diet.
My DR’s assure me this will happen in the near future. It would just mean replacing my PEG tube with a smaller profile button.
I sincerely want to thank each & every one of you have followed me through this hard & unexpected journey.
I consider all of you as family.
I think of you every day. Please continue to check in, send pics of all the furry, feathered, & scaled friends that I miss so dearly.
And if any of you would like to, PLEASE, message me for my personal number.
I would truly love to stay in touch. I consider every one of you a family member.
Thank you all again for your support & love.

Hello friends! I know it’s been a while. I want to update all of you on my cancer journey. I’m currently doing GREAT! I’m working full time at the Circle K on River Rd if you want to stop in to visit. Haha.
I am going back to Duke Cancer Center on the 6th for a full day of scans & testing.
I’m “in recovery” for the next 5 years until I can be labeled as cancer free.
So I hope it stays that way!
Thank you to each and everyone that has entrusted Paw Petters over the years.
I truly do miss each & every furry & feathered friend I’ve made & had the privilege to take care of.

Hello friends!
I’m honestly sorry it has been so long since I have updated everyone who still follows this page. I’m currently one year post-op from my surgery to remove 2/3 of my tongue, and 96 lymph nodes in my neck due to Stage IV squamous cell carcinoma otherwise known as head & neck cancer.
I went through the surgery, had a permanent feeding tube installed & went through an intensive 6 weeks of chemotherapy & radiation at Duke Cancer Center.
I’m currently one year out from treatment and my scans have all come back clear showing no residual malignancy.
I will continue to be monitored for at least the next 5 years to make sure that I am indeed, cancer free.
This journey, and the decision to close Paw Petters has honestly been one of the most difficult decisions I have EVER made.
I want to personally thank EVERY single one of my former clients who have reached out to me and are still in contact with me just to check in. You will never know how much your ongoing prayers, friendship & support have meant to me. I love all you so, so much.
And I honestly miss every single pup, cat, & critter that I have had the honor & privilege to take care of over the past 7 years.
I will continue to get stronger in hopes that maybe one day I will be able to reopen in some capacity.
Please be patient in the meantime, and if you want to, please feel free to friend request me on my personal page. marie
I would love to catch up, hang out with your pets, and keep in touch.
Thank you,so, so much. ❤️

For all those who have stuck around since the beginning, I just want to update you.
Paw Petters is permanently closed.
My cancer diagnosis has been the deciding factor.
I’m in recovery, I now have another job.
I will cherish the many years I spent taking care of your pets, but it’s time to move on.

Happy New Year!!!
I am back at home after my treatment at Duke Cancer Center.
Thank you to everyone who has checked on me and my family during the past few months.
I’m still recovering from chemotherapy & radiation.
I’ll keep everyone updated as to when & if I can continue dog walks or pet sitting once I get the all clear from my doctors!

Hello everyone!
I just wanted to make a quick update post.
I am starting my 4th week of treatment at Duke Cancer Center.
I have until the end of December, then I’ll be done with radiation & chemotherapy!
I very much hope to return to pet sitting & dog walking one day, but I’ll need a good while to recover.
Thank you so much for your continued support!! ❤️❤️❤️

Hello friends!
Just wanted to pop in with a quick update.
I had surgery on October 4th to remove 2/3 of my tongue and several lymph nodes in my neck due to cancer.
I had reconstructive surgery the same day on my tongue.
I go back to Duke Cancer Center at the end of October to start my radiation/chemo treatments.
At this point in time, I have no idea when or if I will be able to re-open. I hope to at some point, but want to make sure I’m completely healed before doing so.
Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out!!
I sure do miss all of you!!!

This is just the start of my journey. Thank you to everyone who has entrusted PawPetters through the years with your furry, scaled, & feathered family members.

09/03/2022

I have contacted most of my daily dog walk clients, and some vacationers as well, but I wanted to make a post.
I am being referred to Duke Cancer Center for possible oral cancer. If I haven’t reached out to you personally, please forgive me.
While I may not be able to continue this company, I still want to remain in contact, so I am not shutting down the page. If you have any questions, I will be keeping the current phone number until October 1st. Then I will close that account.
I am no longer able to accept new clients, or continue taking care of any animals until I know my prognosis.
Thank you to everyone who entrusted Paw Petters with you pets’ care for over the past decade.
I will miss all of you.

Dear friends,
We have come to the hard decision to close Paw Petters. We have loved and cared for your furry, feathered, & scaled family members for so many years.
The past few years have been extremely difficult to navigate. We have strived to provide the best in home pet care that we could.
I want to thank each and every one of you for entrusting us with the care of your pets.
The time has come, however, that I need to focus on my family and their needs.
We will close September 1, 2022.
I will make sure that all visits between now and September 1st are done with the same care that has been given as always.
Monday-Friday dog walks will go on until September 1, 2022.
Words cannot express how much I appreciate all of you.
I will miss all of you.
Thank you for giving us the privilege of taking care of your furry, feathered, & scaled family members over the years.
If you would like us to mail your keys, or have them delivered back to you, please let us know before August 15, 2022.
Unclaimed keys will be disposed of with no identifying marks.

Sincerely,
Angelica Humphrey

Whether you choose us to take care of your pets or not, please be aware that any pet sitting service that offers in-their-home boarding services MUST be licensed in the state of NC.

http://www.ncagr.gov/vet/AWS/

~ If you offer boarding of dogs and/or cats out of your home for a fee you must obtain a boarding kennel license from the Animal Welfare Section. This includes providing boarding services advertised through online pet-service companies and other online lists. Operating a boarding facility without a valid license could result in up to a $5,000 civil penalty for each violation. In addition, operation of a boarding kennel without a valid license is a Class 3 misdemeanor where each day of operation constitutes a separate offense.~

Please also make sure they carry insurance, a boarding kennel liability insurance, not just homeowners insurance.

While it might be nice to have a friendly neighbor or someone you find on Facebook take care of your pet while you are out of town, there are things that need to be considered!
If you are paying someone to take care of your pet inside THEIR home, they could face a fine of $5,000 and be charged with a misdemeanor for each day your pet is in their care if they are not licensed. All it takes is someone calling and reporting them.
Please take care.
