28day pregnancy/heartbeat check for this cute little foal! 28 days is the earliest you can detect a heartbeat in an equine fetus. Can YOU see the heartbeat? Congrats Outlaw Quarter Horses on your upcoming 2025 foal! π
The antics of breeding season when you have left over liquid nitrogen from transferring your frozen semen straws that just came in! Cool trick!! π·

Meet baby Stealth due to his stealthy appearance on Thursday night!!
Never a dull moment at the VVS clinic! This little colt was born at 1:15am Monday morning! His mamma had a monitoring device on her so that we could assist if needed but mamma Dee Dee did it all on her own!
This foaling season remember the important 1-2-3 rules:
1. Foal must stand within 1 hour after birth
2. Foal must nurse within 2 hours after birth
3. Mare must pass full placenta within 3 hours after birth.
Lastly mare and foal exam at 36-48 hours if everything is normal and testing the foals blood level of IgG to make sure it received enough colostrum!
Any questions with your mares, foals or breeding, give us a call!!
Crazy bottle kitten!! π
Kitty Inhaler how to video! Meet Benjimin who was having respiratory issues at home. Dr Kayla and crew were able to do some diagnostics and figure out he has Kitty asthma! He now takes his inhaler at home and is doing much better! His mom Alexa made us this great tutorial video so you can learn and see how easy it is! Thanks Alexa and Benjimin! πΎππΎ
One of our wheel chair patients Bloo met cows for the first time while visiting us! Too cute!! π
Distraction 101! We use devices, belly rubs, soothing talking and other options to help our patients relax and hold still while working with them! This little mare usually needs sedation for the farrier to do her corrective trimming, but with this simple twitch she was so busy playing with it, she would hold still so Dr Kayla and Farrier Mike could work on her!
Leave it to Dr Kayla to try to feed the strays and entice them to be friends!
Itβs so nice to have friends, especially inter-species ones!! Look at this pair- Maple the horse is getting a buffet delivered to her while she is in training and tied up, and Larry the pig gets back scratches! Genius!! Who says horses and pigs canβt be friends?? π€£π€£
Dr Kaylaβs Midnight adventures!
Last night Boston Terrier Maggie got in a pickle when she couldnβt deliver her last 3 puppies due to a severely breached puppy that initially was thought to be deceased. Maggie and crew were rushed into surgery around 11pm for a C-Section! Three LIVE and healthy puppies were successfully delivered, even the puppy that had been breached for several hours and had a ruptured sack for at least an hour!
Congratulations Maggie and her litter of 7 healthy pups! The video below were the last three puppies delivered by C-Section late last night ππΎ
This is a SMART horse waking up from anesthesia! This was our rescue colt from our Monday post waking up. Usually we have to βholdβ horses down until they are ready to stand when waking up from anesthesia, but every one in awhile we get one like this that will lay sternally (upright/on their chest) and SLOWLY try out their legs and stand up when ready. What a handsome little gelding that is looking for a good home!
Patient Spotlight!
Meet Sammy, an American Mini Pig! Did you know that he is a model?? Yep! He has his own modeling photos to prove it! Since he wants to make sure he stays healthy and fit for his modeling career, his mom taught him how to walk on a treadmill to stay in shape- and he loves it!!
Did you know one of the biggest health issues in pet pigs is obesity?? Pigs need a VERY small amount of food compared to what most people think!
Follow Sammy in the next post for his modeling shots! π· π·ποΈββοΈ
Cute baby piggies Dr Kayla and barn hand helped deliver last week!! π·π Does anyone know what breed these pigs are?
