What a sweet lil girl. We ❤️ her.
🚨 Donations needed to help Ophelia walk again!
Our Ophelia had her neurologist visit this week, where we got answers on what is likely causing her paralysis, and what her prognosis is. She was diagnosed with a suspected osteochondroma, a non-cancerous bone tumor on her spine. This bony growth on her T6 vertebrae is compressing her spinal cord, causing her hind leg paralysis. The good news - with surgery to remove the growth and intensive physical therapy to rebuild her leg muscles, we're hopeful Ophelia can regain some mobility! Surgery is also imperative to ensure the osteochondroma does not continue to grow and cause her condition to worsen, i.e. making her incontinent or more immobile.
The bad news - the estimate for Ophelia's spinal surgery is $11,016.19. We are 100% committed to giving Ophelia every chance of living a normal life and regaining her mobility, but WE NEED YOUR HELP. This is an enormous expense for a small rescue and we absolutely cannot do it by ourselves. We are calling on our community to help us give Ophelia the surgery she needs to walk again. Every donation, no matter how large or small, goes directly towards Ophelia's upcoming surgery, and as a 501c3, your donation is completely tax-deductible. Thank you 🙏
