Urgent! Macy is in need of a forever home! She is a 1yr old Pit Bull Mix. Macy is extremely sweet and loving. She loves belly rubs and to cuddle. Macy completed a 21-day Board and Train Bootcamp with Sit Now Stay Dog Training where she was an incredible student. She is UTD on vaccinations, is scheduled to be spayed prior to rehoming and has had a litter of pups in the past few months that have all been placed into homes. Now its Mom’s turn!
She was originally found in the basement of an abandoned house. Her rescuer decided to adopt her into his home, invest into training, and later found out that she was pregnant! They have all worked incredibly hard for Macy, the puppies, and she has developed into such a happy and healthy dog despite her unknown past traumas.
Her current owner made the very emotional decision to rehome Macy due to a situation involving their neighbor. Macy can be sensitive or territorial to dogs who have poor social cues and will be reactive to dogs under uncontrolled circumstances. To our knowledge, one of the neighbor dogs was aggressive with Macy which led to a reaction between both animals. She has been perfectly happy around well balanced dogs both in and out of training, and has coexisted peacefully with the other two neighbor dogs. She is a dog who would love walks in the park but she would find doggie daycare or dog parks incredibly stressful and those situations would be very unfair to her.
In training, it was obvious that fear was the root of her behavior around other dogs and she was able to denseitisze and work around them beautifully. In high energy situations or those without a handler present, she has been seen to react as a defense mechanism. Her new home would ideally be a single dog home but a neutral or balanced housemate would also be great. She has excellent engagement, is confident, is great with basic obedience and manners. She will grow into a wonderful mature adult dog if the new owners keep up her training and work with her. Lessons, training equipment, and group class will be extended to the new owners to ensure the transfer to a new home starts off on the right paw.
Macy loves children!!! She would do very well with kids, especially older ones interested in playing and being active. Those with babies should remember the activity requirements that come with a one year old pup. She has NOT been tested around cats, this is something her training team would be happy to assist with but we can not speak to her tendencies as we have yet to see them.
She would do better in a home with a fenced yard but isn’t required. I think Macy would do very well in a home that is active and either loves running, hiking, walking camping etc. but she does love to hang out on her dog bed and be a cuddle buddy.
