Hello I'm Angela! I'm a life long guinea pig lover providing a safe place for the small and furry!
(2)
Congratulations to Rex and Rosie on their bonding sessions today with Fred (neutered male) and Neville. Both found new roommates. Yay!! š
Some more pictures of this cute girl! Love me some Cookie Monster!
Cookie Monster is off pregnancy hold. Turns out sheās just a plus size model with a super sized personality. She is darling and wants a home with a seasoned Guinea pig owner, who understands a girlās needs. Cookie would love to be the center of attention. Itās possible she could bond with another female or neutered male, but at this point she hasnāt seemed interested in having a roommate. So a separate cage next to a Guinea pig friend will be best for her.
Chuck is still looking for his fur-ever home. Please come meet him soon!
Rex and Henry are now ready for a new home.
Henry is a rock and roll dude. He likes his hair long and his music loud. Henry is out going and loves attention. But heās still learning about being a lap pig.
Rex is so much more shy than Henry. He tends to hide in his hut only coming out to get a treat.
This is Officer Judy. She has been at the rescue a while and would LOVE a home where she can have a more room to roam and a warm lap to watch movies. She is a couple years old and needs to be spayed, before moving to her new family.
BUT, hereās what she had to offer: a little sass, and lots of love. She is the sweetest rabbit Iāve ever met and loves attention. Judy loves treats and wants a family to call her own.
Would you consider being her hero? Please reach out for more information about adopting her.
Congratulations to Sāmores on his successful bonding date. Wilbur a Free State grad was needing a new roommate, so his family brought him in for a bonding date. Wilbur and Sāmores hit it off, and after a little rumbling and hu***ng, the two boys settled in for some lettuce and a nap. Yay! Congratulations boys!
Henry and Rex seem to have hit it off. Iād like to give Henry a week to adjust to his new life and then he and Rex will be available to adopt to a specially approved home. Rex has had a rough go at life and will need a very calm home with lots of TLC.
Butters is still waiting for his forever home! ā¤ļø
Congratulations to the Princess for finding her new home! She and Luna are older ladies that will enjoy their golden years munching hay and lounging in their fleece beds. ā¤ļø
This hunk is Chuck. Chuck is hoping to meet his person who will teach him how to become a lap pig. Heās a big boy who looks like a ground hog. Whoās looking for a sweet boy full of sass? š¤©š
This is Polydactile Perry. Heās a gigantic beast of a Guinea pig. He is in need of a kind gentle person who will give him the time and attention he needs to become a lap pig. In addition to his big personality, he has 2 additional toes on each paw. ā¤ļø
This is Butterscotch! This handsome hunk of fur is so talkative and sweet like butterscotch! He wants all the love and attention. Currently, heās bonded with Zuko, but we might be able to bond him with another single male. Heās ready for his forever home! ā¤ļø
This is Cookie from behind. Sheās a big girl!
This is Cookie Monster. Remember the scared little girl that was found by an apartment dumpster? Sheās becoming a sweet little snuggler. But sheās still on pregnancy hold. But sheās looking for her forever home. Today she got her nails trimmer for the first one. Who ever had her, probably never had her nails trimmed!
This is couple of the Wheek! Oreo is the smooth coat boy. Heās 1.5 to 2 years old and heās paired with Reeseās, who is a 3 year old female. Reese came to me 2 years ago pregnant. I soon found out that this was her second pregnancy. I promised her she would never have to have babies again! Oreo is neutered and could be paired with another female. But Iād like to keep him bonded with Reeseās. Oreo is quite timid and so is Reeseās, but once you have them in your lap, they are happy as clams and LOVE treats! Start spring with this cute couple and let them melt your heart with sweet piggy kisses! ā¤ļø
This is Snickers and Auggie. Two of the cutest most outgoing boys youāll meet. Snickers (the smooth coat) thinks he should model for Calvin Klein. Auggie is just a fun guy. Both want treats and to be snuggled. Wonāt you consider adopting them? Snickers was born here at the rescue 2 years ago on April 1st. Auggie came to the rescue last summer and is about 1.5 -2 years old.
Bachelor of the Wheek! This is Chuck. Heās a shy guy looking for a warm lap to be loved and spoiled.
Chuck is about 2.5 years old and intact, so needs to be paired with another male or neutered before pairing with a female piggy.
Itās a gorgeous day in Kansas. Days like today mean itās a perfect day to bring the girls outside for some grass and sun.
***note: never leave your pets unattended outside and never set the direct sun light if itās more than 70 degrees out. Wild animals will prey and on your pet or they can overheat in the sun.
Cookie is still unwinding from the trauma of being dumped. She is learning to trust humans but is still nipping when I move my hand too fast. Earning her nickname Cookie Monster.
Congratulations to Chloe and her new friend Violet. We were able to bond these two girls and now Chloe has gone to her forever home! Pinch me! Iām so happy!
February has been a good month at the rescue. We have had 3 piggies adopted out and taken in 3.
Unfortunately, Bob Ross crossed the rainbow bridge this past week after having been sick a short time.
Congratulations to Possum and Pedro! They went to their new home today. ā¤ļø
This is a great explanation of how to s*x a Guinea pig.
Happy snow day! We have 2 new boys that arrive a couple of days ago. Meet Possum and Pedro!
These two boys are young and vivacious. Pedro is very interactive and Possum is a little more reserved. They are looking for their forever home to be treated like kings and spoiled with fresh fruits and veggies š„
Happy New Year from all the piggies at Free State Rescue!
Below you will see some stats about the rescue. I havenāt kept strict records as far as money because Iām not a recognized non-profit. Iām small and run this rescue out of my home. However, I do this because I want to ensure there is a safe place for unwanted small furries to go when families canāt take care of their pet Guinea pigs.
Some numbers for the year:
Vet bills: ~$600.00
Piggies Adopted out: 4
Rainbow piggies: 4
Intakes: 11 Guinea pigs and 1 rabbit.
Farthest intakes: Springfield, Missouri
Current animals in care: 20 Guinea pigs and 1 rabbit.
My approximate running cost is $150 a month for food and bedding. This DOES NOT include vet bills or any other extenuating circumstances. I run strictly off donations and my own pocketbook.
Please, as always, Adopt donāt Shop! And drop me a text or DM if interested in adopting.
Wishing you the very best in health and prosperity in 2024 ā¤ļø

Here at the rescue we have a few older piggies that require special care. Gilbert is one of the older boys that Iām currently hand feeding a couple of times a day. A staple at the rescue is Critical Care for Herbivores by Oxbow Animal Care. I always have it on hand for when a piggy is feeling under the weather.
What a beautiful morning in Kansas City! Piggy of the wheek is Chloe. Chloe had a rough start at life. She spent her first couple of months living in the woods behind a gas station in Spring Hill with 20 other piggies that were dumped. She was terrified when she came to the rescue, as anyone was perceived as a predator. Now sheās coming out of her shell and talks to me when I bring lettuce down for the herd. She would love a quiet household and to be your lap pig!
Itās hay time at the rescue. Iām so very thankful for friends who are willing to hook me with beautiful fresh hay for the piggies. They absolutely love the fresh hay. ā¤ļø
Bob Ross is available to be your tv watching, and book reading buddy. His hair is as grand as the painter, after whom he was named! This guy is available now and would love a nice lap for snuggles and treats. He has the sweetest little squeak to remind you he needs treats. Please come meet him and Iām sure he will paint your heart with love! Age is about 1 year and could be neutered in order to be paired with a lady. As of right now, he isnāt paired with anyone.
