Throwback Thursday! Ariel and Jack were our original clinic cats! 🧡 Mariposa opened its doors in December of 2007 and Ariel has been with us since the beginning, longer than any of our employees! Jack sadly passed away in December of 2018 due to heart disease. Our other clinic kitty, Sparrow, has her name inspired by Jack's name. As fans of Pirates of the Caribbean will know- Captain Jack Sparrow! Ariel is currently 17 years old, which is hard to believe! 🐈‍⬛

A few months ago, we were visited by two incredibly curious Birman kittens. 🐱 They recently came in for their spay/neuter procedure. Brooke is holding Valerio and Cassie is holding Vaiana. We can officially say we are just so smitten with these kittens! 🤗

Guinea pigs, Jasper and Wilbur, appear like mirror copies of each other...but they are not even related! 😲 These two are buddies/housemates and enjoy each other's company.

Last week, two guinea pigs named Washer and Dryer were here for their spay surgery (flank ovariectomy). 🫧 The owner acquired them when a friend went to go get a washer and dryer off Facebook marketplace, and while picking them up, it was discovered that the sellers were also looking for a home for their guinea pigs. Hence their names! 😄 Dr. Burcham recommends an ovariectomy for female guinea pigs to help prevent cystic ovaries and other female problems. She performs a technique going through the flank rather than the underside, which is why they have funny haircuts on their backs. One of her assistants mentioned that we have a nice little apartment now, furnished with a Washer and Dryer! 🥁

Earlier this week, our parking lot situation was a little problematic until our service provider could come back on Tuesday to do some additional snow removal. ❄ At one point, we had 11 employee cars parked at one end of the lot to clear out the other spaces! It's much better now as we prepare for the next round of snow fall!

We can't think of better weather to celebrate National Cuddle Up Day! 🥰 Cuddling with your pets can have many benefits for both body and mind. January is Walk Your Dog Month! 🐾 There are many benefits to walking your dog including better sleep, improved mental health, reduced risk of disease, and a growing bond with your canine companion! During severe weather, it is recommended to stay indoors to avoid extreme temperatures and possible accidents. ❄️ If you do decide to walk your dog, please use all precautions and minimize the duration. Remember that safety is the priority!

Merry Christmas! 🎄 Last week, we held our annual white elephant gift exchange during our staff meeting. As always, a good time was had by all and Sparrow made sure to supervise. Loads of delicious food (potluck style) and a variety of silly, creative gifts. 🎁 Dr. Sheila Dodson loved her giant dinosaur and we think the ornament of Dr. Carrier captured the mood for the end of 2024. We wish you a very happy holiday and a day full of celebration! 🎉
