I let Kevin and the gang out for recess today. It's been a while!
We got our first frost last night so I'm not too worried about them running around in the garden.

Turns out no one was interested in the garden.

Our first annual pet show was so much fun!
Congratulations to our winners and thank you to all of the participants.
We raised over $1000 for the sanctuary! 💪

The goats and little pigs celebrated by getting out of their pen and eating all of the chicken feed. 😜
Kevin streaked through pizza night and was lured back into the pen with his own pizza .

The Good Earth Farm Animal Sanctuary is hosting it's first annual Pet Show on Sunday, September 22 from 4-6 pm! The purpose of the event (besides having fun) is to raise money for the Farm Animal Sanctuary, with the eventual goal to be able to pay for the construction of another building, so we can house more animals.

Participants may show cats, dogs, fish, lizards, stuffed animals, imaginary animals, or pretty much anything that they can keep control of! They'll have up to 3 minutes to show off their pet to the judges. Participants are encouraged to be creative! Strut around like you're at Westminster! Read a poem, sing a song about your pet. Do a trick. Wear matching costumes! Rumor has it that one participant is even going to ride a stick pony/hobby horse!

There are two age groups: 6-13 and 14 and older. Best in show and runner-up will receive trophies, and everyone in attendance will get to vote on People's Choice Award. This event will take place during a The Good Earth Farm pizza night, so there will likely be a lot of people in attendance to watch!

VIP tables are available for a $500 donation tax-deductible donation to the Farm Sanctuary, and include a table for 6, Table service, pizzas, and beer and wine. 3 tables available.

For $1 each, guests at the Pet Show will be able to cast their votes for People's Choice. 100% of all proceeds go to the animal sanctuary.

The ebb and flow of life at the sanctuary.
Last week we said goodbye to Scarlett the cow and Sydney our dog of 8 years.

Today Billy, the charismatic goat in the pen was acting strangely.
A call to the vet.
A race to get him in a suitable pen for transport.
Hoping that he makes the drive.

He did.
And now we wait.
Dr. Elise wasn't able to give an immediate diagnosis -- so he's spending the night.

I'll keep you updated on Billy's progress.

Pepita is making herself right at home at The Sioux River Yoga Festival.

Taking care of these guys in the heat is almost trickier than taking care of them in the freezing cold.

I make sure they have cool, clean water, fans, fresh bedding and full wallows.

This afternoon they will get some popsicles.
Fortunately, this heat will only last a few days!
