Craziest pole and barrel horse around! ππ€£π
We pulled Trixie straight out of the pasture for Alaina to ride today after having a 5 month hiatus to have a foal. Little Ava is 6 weeks old now and loved all the attention. β€

BRIDLELESS ANYONE?!?!
Here is a sneak peak of what my Summer Western Camp kiddos have been working on all week. We have been adding an obstacle a day and dropping the reins over the saddle horn/pommel. This leaves them with their verbal cues, seat/weight, and their LEGS to control the horse. The goal was to be riding several obstacles, of varying degrees of difficulty, bridleless by FRIDAY.
Well, today is Wednesday, and all it took was ONE kiddo asking if they could try without their bridle. "Like take it off?"
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
Then another wanted to.
Then I convinced one that I knew was ready.
Then I just told one they were doing it.
The only bridle I didn't pull was Jack's because he is training Cowboy to leg yield and spur stop by himself! He will have that horse looking like a pro by Friday, just wait!
And, then, there was poor Thia. She just came to ride a few hours and work on her spur stops and consistent pressure. I may have just walked up to her (she was riding my young filly), took the bridle off, and said, "Do it!"...

Anyway, I am obviously very proud of all of my students and our amazing horses!!!

How bad are the cicadas where you live? We've only SEEN one live cicada here at the ranch, but you sure can HEAR them! π
However, we went on a trail ride to Rails to Trails in Elkmont, AL last weekend (05/19/2024) and they were EVERYWHERE! They were literally crawling all over the trees and they were so loud that sometimes it was almost painful! π³
I now know why they call it the cicada apocalypse! ππ€£π
