It's tick season and the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association has released some important information on prevention and control of this parasite and the diseases they carry.

Tis the season for ticks...ick!

An increasing number and variety of ticks are making their way to new geographic areas. Lyme disease infection rates tend to peak in May and the outlook is only looking worse. Protect yourself and pets from disease with these tips.

Please help us to spread the word on these 2 beautiful girls. Their owner needs to find a new home due to family circumstances. Maisie is 2 yrs old F/S hound mix and Maple is 3yrs old F/S , mix breed. They are up to date on their vaccinations and love to go to Doggie Day Care to play with other dogs. I'm sure many of you with dogs are hearing about a possible increase in transmissible respiratory disease which has been reported from multiple states. Investigation is ongoing to determine if this is a new form of infection (which is currently thought to be less likely) or more likely a larger than normal surge in yearly seasonal forms of kennel cough/influenza. We have not seen any cases in our practice at this time but remain vigilant and following the ongoing research. Please reach out to us if you have questions!! Concerned about recent news of a mystery respiratory illness in dogs? Be aware but don't panic!

Keep an eye on your dog and contact your veterinarian if you're worried. Be sure to let them know the symptoms you're seeing in case they want you to use a separate entrance.

Avoid places where dogs congregate and be sure pets are up-to-date on all vaccines.
