Levittown Animal Hospital has been treating the dogs and cats of Levittown, NY, since 1965. We are a full-service, award-winning AAHA-Accredited, Low-Stress Handling, and Fear-Free Certified facility. Our services include preventive and wellness care, sick visits, vaccinations, microchipping, allergy and dermatology testing, Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, herbal medicine, laser therapy,

x-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab, pet dentistry, surgery including spay/neuter, c-section, orthopedic surgery, cherry eye repairs, ACL reconstruction, TPLO surgery, pain management, and more. We are open seven days a week with same-day appointments available.

Meet Bella! She came in for her wellness exam and we found some gnarly teeth. Warning the pictures are a little graphic. Dental x-rays were done and showed that her teeth had too much damage to save. She had all but 1 tooth pulled and is going to be feeling like a new woman! A few days of soft food and she’ll be back to her normal self!

Did you know just like us dogs and cats need their teeth brushed? Daily brushing goes a long way in keeping your pets feeling their best! If left untreated dental disease can lead to many other health issues and affect quality of life. First, your pet should come in for an exam to see if they’re a candidate for a dental cleaning and if so bloodwork will be run to make sure they are nice and healthy to go under anesthesia. Unlike us when we go to the dentist, pets don’t like to sit still and cooperate which is why it is standard of care to done under anesthesia. During the procedure, full mouth radiographs are taken, deep scaling and polishing, and if needed extractions are performed. To keep the these now pearly whites clean, daily brushing at home with a pet safe toothpaste will help prevent tartar from forming! Enjoy 20% the entire month of February! Belle had the best spa day🧼! When she came in for wellness exam, although she was acting completely fine, there was a significant amount of dental disease found. Belle’s mom scheduled her dental cleaning right away. As you can see in the before pictures, Belle’s teeth were covered in heavy plaque and tartar. After full mouth x-rays and an oral exam there was a lot more going on with her teeth that you couldn’t see initially, like gum recession and much more that led to a total of 18 extractions! Animals are so good at hiding how they’re feeling, but now, Belle is going to be feeling like a million bucks after her mouth fully heals. While she was under anesthesia she even got her coat brushed out, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, and was feeling like a new lady when she woke up! Just like humans, dental care is extremely important in dogs and cats! Not only do their teeth have an impact on the way they eat, dental disease can travel through their body and affect their health.
