Belle had the best spa day🧼! When she came in for wellness exam, although she was acting completely fine, there was a significant amount of dental disease found. Belle’s mom scheduled her dental cleaning right away. As you can see in the before pictures, Belle’s teeth were covered in heavy plaque and tartar. After full mouth x-rays and an oral exam there was a lot more going on with her teeth that you couldn’t see initially, like gum recession and much more that led to a total of 18 extractions! Animals are so good at hiding how they’re feeling, but now, Belle is going to be feeling like a million bucks after her mouth fully heals. While she was under anesthesia she even got her coat brushed out, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, and was feeling like a new lady when she woke up! Just like humans, dental care is extremely important in dogs and cats! Not only do their teeth have an impact on the way they eat, dental disease can travel through their body and affect their health. Who needs a day off when there are bladder stones to crush? Shoutout to Dr. Drutjons for coming in on her day off, she’s the MVP of emergency cystotomies!

Stone, unfortunately living up to his name, came into LAH in a lot of pain. His mom noticed he was in and out of the litter box and having trouble urinating. After being examined, it was determined Stone was blocked which is a life threatening emergency. Not only was he blocked and unable to urinate, but the x-rays showed stones in his bladder! After stabilizing Stone, he went into surgery to have his stones removed. He is now eating a special diet to prevent the stones from forming again. Now, he’s feeling so much better and doing great! Also, big shoutout to his mom for taking great care of him during his recovery! 🪨😺💥
