Biscuit had a big weekend at Southern Kingdom Diving Dogs -Jump into June Qualifier. Biscuit did so well and jumped further each time. This boy has always had springs for legs. It’s been a blast watching him put all the pieces together.

Birdie is owned by the Bone family and is from our 2022 Luna X Hamilton litter. I’m lucky to be able to see this sweet girl often and have such a close relationship with her and her family. 🥰

This beautiful girl had me wrapped around her paw. She was brave and confident which is exactly how I love my puppies. I’m so happy she hasn’t changed and is living her best life. She has the cutest sister to grow up with too!

🐾 Update from her amazing Mom: “She is doing really good! She’s listening well and is learning quickly!
She most enjoys snacks! lol she loves water and being inside snuggling. She hates being outside without someone with her!
She’s still absolutely the sweetest! Very rambunctious and very headstrong but she’s growing into the best girl!”

All great behaviors to keep in mind when introducing your dog to anything/anyone new and training!

These are some examples of displacement behaviours and serve as indicators of the dog's internal state which can provide valuable insights into their emotional well-being.

Displacement behaviours arise when an animal faces conflicting motivations/ feelings for two or more behaviours, leading to an unrelated action. For instance, birds might peck at grass when torn between attacking or fleeing from a threat, while humans may scratch their heads when indecisive.

Context matters when interpreting animal behaviour. EG: Sniffing and scratching could be due to various reasons like being itchy, exploring scents. Understanding the environment and situation helps in accurately deciphering the dog’s actions.

In interpreting body language, subtle cues matter too. A relaxed dog typically has ‘loose’ muscles, a ‘soft’ eye, and their tail held in the breeds natural carriage, and may pant gently. A stressed dog might have tense muscles, mouth shut, a lowered/ ‘stiff’ tail, flattened ears, and avoid eye contact. Understanding body language in canine communication helps distinguish between comfort and discomfort in the dogs demeanour.

These behaviours can also occur when an animal is hindered from engaging in a highly desired behaviour. Often, out-of-context behaviours provide comfort to the animal, like scratching, grooming, or sniffing.

In animal behaviour evaluations, displacement activities serve as indicators of unmet behavioural needs. For example, humans display self-directed behaviours like fidgeting in stressful situations, indicating negative emotions.

When a dog displays displacement behaviours, these are actions that seem out of place. These behaviours are often seen when a dog is unsure how to react in a particular situation.

This typically happens when the dog experiences conflicting emotions like anxiety, stress, or frustration, and serves as a way for the dog to release tension, or cope with the mixed feelings they are experiencing.

Comments like these warm my heart and remind me why I raise them the way I do. I spend so much time and energy setting our puppies up for the best start in life and truly want every family to be successful.

This puppy went to a family that was new to owning/raising a dog. They had tried years ago and were burned by another breeder. Mom was nervous to give it another shot and I’m so glad she did! She has been on it from day 1 and doing a fantastic job. I couldn’t be happier with this placement 🥰

This past weekend I took a small group to snag their AKC Fetch Novice titles in New Hope, AL. It was a great day trip for us. There are 4 titles with Fetch: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Retriever. These guys will get their Intermediate next month.

Our pocket 🚀 Raven, started running FastCAT last weekend and earned her BCAT yesterday. She hit a PB today of 25.45 mph. Raven is our wild child who’s full of sass and gives 💯% on everything we throw at her.

The “Hamilton” litter saw our amazing vet today and are all cleared to go home! I know all of our families are dying to have their pups home with them🥰

Boys all weighed 16-17 lbs, girls are a bit more petite at 12&14.
They all adjusted wonderfully and the staff couldn’t get enough of them!
