I want to share a deeply personal story that underscores why I started The Rustic Mutt Foundation.

Working for an animal shelter for four years, I was required to get licensed to euthanize animals. Passing that exam was one of the hardest moments of my life because the "test" was to euthanize a dog. They brought me the saddest-looking female Plott Hound I'd ever seen. I wanted so badly to just load her into my car and bring her home with me, but I was young and needed the job. I cried for weeks afterward and vowed never to euthanize another dog.

Seeing the wagging tails of dogs as they walked to the euthanasia room, believing something wonderful was about to happen, broke my heart. That's why I founded The Rustic Mutt Foundation - to save as many animals as possible from that fate.

But we can't do it alone. We're a small rescue with minimal volunteers, and we need your help. Here are some ways you can make a difference:

🐶 **Foster**: Give a dog a temporary home and save a life. Even fostering just one time can make a huge impact.
🚗 **Transport**: Help us transport dogs to and from vet appointments, foster homes, or adoption events.
📲 **Social Media**: Assist with spreading the word about our rescue, our adoptable dogs, and the importance of our mission.
👫 **Volunteer**: There are countless other ways to volunteer your time and skills to help our furry friends, shoot me a message to discuss what you can do to help us save lives.

**Urgent: Foster or Rescue Needed for Sweet Manx Mama and Her Adorable Kittens**

We’ve got a super sweet Manx we're calling Rosie and her six adorable kittens who need a foster home or feline rescue ASAP!

Rosie approached us while we were on a walk & was so emaciated her body couldn't produce a single drop of milk. We thought for sure that if she had kittens, they would be deceased. However, Rosie surprised us by leading us straight to her babies who were in relatively good health considering Rosie's condition! Rosie is an awesome mama & she knew she needed help for her babies ❤️

We've had Rosie for a week putting weight back on her and she immediately started producing milk when we fed her. She is taking fantastic care of her babies, no bottle feeding required!

She gets along great with dogs and other cats (as long as they are respectful of her space & kittens) and is using the litterbox like a champ. Her kittens are just starting to open their eyes, and they’re just the cutest little furballs. Here’s the rundown:
- 3 black kittens
- 1 gray kitten
- 1 gray & white kitten
- 1 black & white kitten

🌟 **Iris Update!** 🌟

We are thrilled to share some wonderful news about Iris! She is absolutely thriving in her amazing foster home. 🏡💕

Iris has been going on adventurous hikes with her two foster brothers and enjoying relaxing self-care outings at the lake. 🐾🌲🏞️ Her foster parents have truly pampered her with a big fluffy new bed, a bunch of new toys, & lots of love. 🛏️🎾

She's also getting all the best nutrition, including multivitamins and high-protein food to help her get back to her best self. 🥩💊

However, we did receive an update on her lab work, and all of her liver values are elevated. We're hoping this is related to how emaciated and sickly she was when she first came to us. We will be rechecking in a couple of months, after she's had time to put on more weight and fully clear up her skin infection. 🩺🐶

Thank you for your continued support and positive thoughts for Iris. She is well on her way to recovery, and we are optimistic about her future! 💖🌟

🐾 Iris Update 🐾

Yesterday, her awesome temporary foster took her to the vet to test for mange, and thankfully, the test came back negative! 🙌 At that time, she was started on ear medication to help with her ear infections.

However, Iris still needs a comprehensive exam and diagnostics to ensure she's on the road to a full recovery. This crucial appointment is tomorrow, and it will be quite expensive.

She appears to be facing some significant medical issues, including a severe skin condition, and she needs all the love and care we can give her.

Before Bella finds her forever home, we're ensuring she's fully prepared by providing her with all the necessary vaccinations, a microchip for safety, and getting her spayed.

UPDATE: BoBo is safe! We were just informed that he found a place to go! If that changes we will post immediately. We truly appreciate all the shares, you all are amazing! ❤️

EMERGENCY HELP / FOSTER NEEDED:

We've been asked to intake this handsome fella named BoBo. BoBo is around 5 years old and said to be great with kids & cats. He has lived in a home with other dogs and was great with them. However, BoBo is now blind and needs a slow introduction to new dogs to keep from being startled. His momma is moving out of state and is unable to take him with her. If we're going to help him, we have to have a foster by this weekend because she's leaving next week!

He is already neutered. We will pay for all expenses i.e. wellness visit, vaccines, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, food, medication, etc. All we need is a kindhearted person to give BoBo a safe place to land. Can anyone help?
