Q. Why can I feed less Total Equine® than other feeds recommend?
A: Your horse will absorb 90-95% of the nutrients in Total Equine®. A traditional pelleted horse feed is much less digestible requiring more feed to have the same effect.

Winter is here so is the threat of compaction colic during the temperature swings that we have already experienced in many parts of the country. When temperatures drop rapidly, horses tend to not drink as much water as they need to keep the digestive tract with adequate moisture and if they are consuming low digestibility forage it can compact and the horse is in trouble. Once it compacts in the cecum and colon, it is difficult to make soluble.

Here are a few steps to avoid this:
1. Force feed 1-2 ounces of salt in the feed dairy
2. Warm water to above 55 degrees fi possible
3. Place a large handfull of Total Equine in each bucket of water
4. Feed lower fiber content hay
5. Feed no hay and only Total Equine at the rate of 0.8 -0.9 percent of bodyweight

There may be other methods, but these will help
