Annoying Little Brother
This little one loves its Great Dane brother … #cute #GreatDane
After mulling things over for a bit, we have decided that we will open Sadie up for adoption … with the understanding that she will require at least a couple meet and greets with her potential new family. Sadie’s adoption process will be slower than average as we want to be 110% sure she finds her perfect furever family. Sadie came to us from terrible circumstances. Her former owners starved her to the point of nearly dying. Fortunately, angels intervened and Sadie is now nearly 50lbs, has perfect bloodwork, and has been medically cleared to have her spay surgery.
From Sadie’s fosters, “In the weeks that Sadie’s been with us she’s blossomed into quite the sweet little playful lady. At first she was very reactive and food possessive necessitating separate feedings from our other dogs. Now I’m happy to report that she and our female puppy eat and sleep on the same bed without issue. She is still a little reactive with our male dog, but he is big!
They do play together fairly well now. All three like to run and play tag until they’re spent. The fur around her eyes and nose was sparse and her general coat condition was dull when we started, but now she’s all shiny and her fur looks great on her little face.
Sadie is a lover! She loves to be right with us, and tries to climb in our lap on the couch. I’m sure she’d love to share our bed, too! She loves playing fetch with a ball, car rides, and water (sprinklers).
She knows basic commands, sit, stay, shake, kennel. I sense that she prefers dogs her size, and maybe just females, though she is warming to our Male more each day. Slow introductions are definitely advised. Sadie is happy to be right by our side no matter if it’s snuggling on the couch, or outside. She’s a perfect +1 🙂”
Sadie’s looking for a patient family who will continue to help her establish clear boundaries, give her lots of love, and continue to build confidence. No cats for Sadie. Other dogs in the home will b
The Cutest Rescue Pitbull
This cute little #pibble had her ears cut off but her foster has some #crochet skills!
**Timber aka Spartacus is still seeking his furever home**
“It was ruff for a while there, yikes! However, now I'm with a foster mom that always calls me a GOOD boyyy and says I'm SO cuuuute (oh jeeze, this is embarrassing)! I get all these yummy treats and some bowl that I have to lick a lot-somehow she makes the food cold and stuck there! Really, it's ok though because I enjoy the licking. On walks my foster mom goes crazy over me, I make her hand out them treats! I don't always get to go smell and chase what I want, but I get treats instead. I am getting more used to that dang leash thing (now I understand the meaning of ball-and-chain). And I do have to brag about how I've improved on my threshold training and controlling my impulses, instead of just taking what I want. On our walks now she'll just stop and we'll stand or sit for a bit, I'm thinking- "come on, let's goooo Ive got things to smell!" Although, I must admit sometimes it is nice to catch a smell or pause to look around. In my down time I love to lay on my bed, listen to the neighborhood and smell the breeze. When I get my own yard that I don't have to share with these obnoxious animals that moo all time, I'll be so happy to run and entertain!
How do you work these hashtag things? #sendtreats #moretreats #akissforatreat”
At this time, he has not yet been tested with children. Because of the trauma from his past owner and the gunshots, we feel it’s best he goes to a home without children. The sudden unpredictable movements and some loud noises do bother him at times.
Timber is believed to be a mastiff/lab mix.

Great day at the event in Lapwai. Of course we couldn’t leave without some puppies 🐾 5 little labs that are 6 weeks old. Headed back to get them cleaned up and some individual pix. More details later.
Timber aka Spartacus got a new toy donated and he looooves it! This big boy is still looking for his furever home. He has been with us since early January and has made a full recovery from his gunshot wounds. With his birthday coming up, nothing would make a better present than a loving home of his own.

THIS is a very common issue that we are seeing in dogs that come into rescue. Resource guarding in general is a tough issue we see frequently, but some of these dogs resort to guarding their human (fosters/adopters) as well. It’s not a good thing and certainly should be addressed. Thank you, Method K9, for this video.

Sadie has made remarkable progress over the last few days. She’s walking. Her eyes are bright. She’s got a fantastic appetite. And she’s up from 27lbs to just over 33lbs in a week. Today she was released from Riverview Animal Clinic and is now in medical foster 💕 She has a long road ahead but we will share her progress with all of you along the way. Hard to believe that a week ago she was at death’s door. There is much to learn from Sadie and her determination. Thank you to the entire Riverview team who helped save Sadie. And thank you to those who have been donating towards her care.
Sadie Got Groomed
Sadie got a much needed groom today. We suspect at 7-mos-old she likely hadn’t been groomed before. This precious girl had to be so uncomfortable but is now in a foster-to-adopt situation with experienced #doodle owners. Thank you, Ashlee from Hells Canyon Working Dogs, for getting her in today and helping her look and feel better 🐾
Sadly, more and more often we are seeing doodles in shelters and rescues along with other designer breeds. A great deal of work needs to go into these breeds. Sadly, people don’t realize the level of commitment, training, and work needed in order for some of them to be successful in their homes. Part of that is the consistency with grooming.
Do your research before adopting a puppy. ALL puppies need training (at all stages). They don’t come out of a box fully trained. If you’re not willing to work with them not just as a puppy, but throughout their lives, then you’re not ready for a puppy.
Blind/Deaf Puppy Playing
Our little vision and hearing impaired #puppy is already proving to be an adventurous girl. She’s 8-weeks-old today. Excited for her to head up to Double J Dog Ranch this weekend where she will surely get the best care and find the best furever home 🐾
#MethodK9 Talks About Reactivity
We see this FREQUENTLY in rescue dogs. It’s not always the dog protecting you. Advocate for your dog and look at things from their perspective.
Thank you for sharing this Method K9.

Meeko is doing well with her temporary foster and we are learning more about her. Her appetite has been excellent. Huge thanks to Grocery Outlet for donating some chicken to us to help supplement her regular feedings. Meeko still has things to work on such as leash training. Her fear of children is still strong as well.
Now that we are learning more about Meeko, we are getting more comfortable on figuring out what she needs in a long-term foster or adopter. If you are interested in Meeko and potentially fostering her, please apply at foster.IdahoRescue.org ... we will require a secure fence for her. Your own animals must be spayed/neutered and current on vaccinations.
Lewiston - Anyone recognize this large lab? He/she randomly shows up here at the rescue occasionally. None of the immediate neighbors recognize. It’s obviously well fed and has a collar. This is between 20th and 21st on Ripon Ave in the Orchards.
We went out and saw Lefty today. He’s such a sweet boy. Today we started his vaccines, dewormed him, and gave him flea/tick preventative. He was the goodest boy and didn’t fuss or anything. He’s put on a little weight and is looking great. We still need to get him into a foster so that we can address his old hip injury. Lefty is looking for a foster with a securely fenced yard and no kitties. You can apply to foster him at foster.IdahoRescue.org 🐾
