Hi all with the growing threat of the next round of covid crap imminent, many tanner's closing their doors, the availability of supplies and a new work direction for me I have decided to slow down the taxidermy side of my life. I enjoy the work I'm just getting wore down fighting the industry. I am however continuing to do European skull mounts as they never leave my facility. Thank you much for your understanding. I will prep capes for a fee. I WILL NOT BE HOME EVERY DAY. Make sure and call or text me @ 406 350 0391 if you need work done.

How I started

I grew up hunting in central Montana on my folkes ranch, we were sucessful from time to time. The funny thing about hunting with my dad was the fact that he thought mule deer and antelope were a lesser big game animal because of the quality and quantity of meat you recieved from those animals so we mainly filled the freezer with cow elk which was way better than the day to day mutten we were raised on......still wont eat it had to much. We always processed our own meat and we never had anything mounted didd’nt have money for stuff like that. I did’nt kill a deer until I was probably age 16 or so we saw a lot but never shot them, when I did kill that first muley my dad cameover to where I shot and got a confused look on his face and said “I thought you were shooting at an elk” I dont think he approved of me taking that deer that day when there were elk around it wasnt a bad buck either for my first one so we loaded him up and that afternoon I took a cow. I learned a lot and am still learning from my father. The few bulls we did take (they wernt big) we just cut the cap off and put them in the shop on the floor. As a kid I wanted to display them better so I started european mounting what the family harvested for that year and eventually became proficient at it. In 2014 I think I started taking taxidermy lessons from Judith River Taxidermy - Dave Sanders and found out its not as easy as throwing hide on a form but he made it look easy (so glad I learned from Dave) he was pacient with me and it finally sunk in about a year and half later I opened my own shop just doing big game heads and here I am. I dont want to be a big shot in the taxidermy world and would like to remain small in my operation as I have other endevours that take up my time as well, I do however want to do a good job and be satified with the mounts I do. Good luck out there. Joel
