Maybe you can even catch a glimpse of some Pennsylvania wildlife while on your ride. Fun Fact🧠: wildlife tend to be less afraid of horse and riders because the the horses’ natural scent masks our human scent. This means sometimes when we see wildlife on our ride, we can get pretty close before they flee!
Before you ask, our horses are use to seeing wildlife, motorcycles, bikes, hikers, dogs, vehicles, and other typical “scary” things. Additionally, we will make sure you are equipped with all the proper knowledge to ensure you will have a safe and fun experience.

We often get asked exactly how safe are our horses? Instead of telling you how safe our horses are, we’ll show you! In this video our horses have to deal with many “scary” things such as guns being shot off their backs, LOUD cannon fire, and swords banging around their faces. Most horses would be terrified of any one of these things, let alone it all going on at once. However, not our horses! We take a lot of pride in how safe, trustworthy, and dependable our horses are. We are so thankful for such great horses and great employees that train our horses!

Happy 4th of July from everyone at Nittany Mountain Trail Rides! Our horses have many jobs besides giving fun trail rides, including being ridden in civil war re-enactments. At these events our horses are expected to remain safe and calm all while having guns shot off of them, cannons going off right next to them, swords battles on them, and carrying flags! This past weekend at the Gettysburg Battle re-enactment we bought a new horse, everyone say hello to Johnny! His first through third day with us consisted of getting him comfortable with gunfire and cannons going off right next to him. We are very proud of Johnny as he did amazing with all the commotion!
