Aquatic exercise is a great way to keep the muscles strong, which helps with comfort and mobility. At Yappy Place, we have aquatic exercise appointments available seven days a week. The water treadmill helps build muscle more efficiently than regular walks, due to resistance from the water. The warmth of the water helps relax and provide increased blood flow to leg muscles. This little guy recently had some weight and muscle loss. The treadmill and consulting with his veterinarian for proper diet is getting him back to his regular fitness level.

Max is a graceful swimmer. The first appointment didn’t look like this, but he was a quick learner. He’s had several swimming appointments. We start him walking on the treadmill and keep filling the water until it’s high enough to swim. He then swims for between 3-5 minutes. We keep the treadmill going the whole time. After swimming, we lower the water until he’s touching the treadmill again and then he gets some additional exercise walking on the treadmill! It’s a great and efficient work out!
It’s always fun to see dogs in the aquatic treadmill appreciate encouragement from their humans!!
