Imagine you’re an artist. The art you produce takes countless hours, you worry, you celebrate, it’s a process but you love it and you’re always proud of the end results.
Your art is placed in a home to be admired, loved, and enjoyed. You see the sparkle in the new owners eyes and that gives you the most joy to see someone appreciate the art as you do.
Fast forward in time and you go to visit the art. The art isn’t even on the wall anymore, it’s on a shelf with a broken frame and maybe some crayon scribbles. The art has lost its essence you put your heart and soul into. The art is no longer art but you know you could restore it but it doesn’t belong to you anymore.
This is a dog trainers rant and frustration. We put so much work into these dogs just to see them mishandled and slip back to how they started. Owners feel defeated and give up without even attempting to reach out for help from their trainers. It shouldn’t be such a frustrating cycle but when you work with dogs it’s such a personal experience for all, it’s difficult to shrug and move on.
Appreciate the art, clear the dust off of it every so often, be proud to own art so unique. The art needs your care and attention and if you need help, seek out the artist who knows it best!
