"Billie" is an 8-9 week old black lab mix who was found outside of town. She is looking for her fur-ever home! She has been started on her vaccine series and will be spayed before being adopted.

She may look sweet, but this little girl is a rough-and-tumble firecracker!

If you're interested in meeting her, let us know! She is currently with a foster home but can be brought to the clinic.

Hey, everyone! Let's start 2025 off right by finding a fur-ever home for "Bandit."

Bandit was a stray that a Good Sam has been taking care of, but unfortunately he has developed a taste for fresh chicken. (Who can blame him??) For obvious reasons, he needs to go to a home without poultry. He does well with other dogs so far but does like to chase cats.

Bandit is approximately 2-3 years old. He is intact currently but will be neutered. He is heartworm negative and is up-to-date on all vaccines (DAPPL4, Rabies, and Bordetella).

Does anyone want to jump into the new year with this handsome feller?!

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

"Leonard" is looking for his fur-ever home.

He is an~5mo male neutered American Bully. He is going to be a big boy! He has shown no aggression to humans or other dogs. Unsure around cats.

He does have a tendency to eat toys and already had one surgery so he will need to be monitored closely!

He is up-to-date on all vaccines for one year and current on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention.

Rather than an adoption fee, I am asking for the new owner to prepay for a ProHeart 6 and two Bravecto chews to ensure he will have prevention for the next 6 months when he is due.

Let us now if you are interested in meeting Leonard. ❀️

Everyone who has walked through the doors of Henderson County Animal Clinic has seen Dixie's contagious smile. For the last 8 years, she has hourlessly and selflessly cared for everyone's dogs, cats, and other species. Today was Dixie's last day with us, and to say she will be missed is a gross understatement. Please y'all show your love as we wish her well in her next steps in life!

We love you, Dix! β™₯️

By now I'm sure everyone has heard in some capacity about the new laws Henderson County will be putting into effect regarding rabies vaccination and "pet taxes." While I don't have all of the details yet, I just wanted to touch base with everyone. As we have more information ourselves, we will pass it on to you.

Everyone knows that animal control in Henderson County is lacking majorly. The Lexington city animal control doesn't service the county, and it's hard to even keep a good city animal control officer (ACO) as it is. The goal of the new $10 per year Rabies registration fee is not aimed to punish pet owners, despite everyone seeing it this way.

Let's face it. We all know Tennessee has to start somewhere in becoming more strict on animal control laws. This is why so many other states don't have stray animals like we do. There are laws in place, licenses to have intact breeding animals so that "backyard breeders" don't exist. However, it's impossible to go from nothing to perfect overnight. We have to start somewhere. That somewhere includes fees associated with pet ownership.

With this law passing, each rabies vaccination will have a $10 fee added on. This extra $10 will be used to fund animal control services, pay an ACO a decent salary, build a facility to house animals picked up by animal control, and hopefully include animals in the county. Eventually we won't have the stray population we do now because people will actually (hopefully) be spaying & neutering their pets instead of allowing them to have puppies irresponsibly, adding to the issue of unhoused/unwanted/homeless pets.

No one wants to pay a "tax" or fee from the government. I get it. I don't want to pay taxes, either. I will be paying this pet registration fee just like everyone else, and I have 5 dogs.

But y'all, it's $10 per year for each pet vaccinated for rabies. Ten dollars. A fast food meal is $10. A coffee from the new Starbucks is $10. There are so many things that we willingly spend $10 on daily or weekly that isn't a "must." Why not consider this a once-yearly $10 donation to help with the homeless animal situation? Because that's what the end goal is here.

I cannot control this. I am not a lawmaker. I don't necessarily appreciate the extra paperwork & time that will be needed to make sure the registration fees are collected and turned over to the county. However, I do appreciate that finally someone is doing SOMETHING to take a step towards modernizing our animal control system. It's long overdue, and I'm glad we are finally making the homeless dogs & cats of Henderson County a priority.

Once I have more details, I will certainly share with y'all. Until then, please find happiness in your days instead of being miserable & angry. I don't know about y'all, but I have so much more to worry about than a $10 per year fee.
