Earlier this week, we introduced the Woodford Humane Society. If you haven't seen Coffee and Kailani's posts yet, be sure to check it out! WHS is using these additional posts to raise awareness about upcoming events and ways to help.
"Pets for Veterans: Coming up Saturday-Sunday, November 9-10! Adoptions are sponsored for veterans and active-duty military families, in honor of Veterans Day – that means no fees for those families if they adopt during the event! This is an annual adoption weekend co-hosted by Classic Rock 92.1 and sponsored by Republic Bank. We do adoptions by appointment; booking for those weekend spots will open Monday, November 4 at 10:00 am. To participate: View adoptable pets online at woodfordhumane.org; select your “top choice” so we can put a pet on hold for you (you will be able to meet others who are not already on hold for someone else if you choose!); call (859) 873-5491 starting at 10:00 am daily to book an appointment! Sponsored adoptions require valid military ID; all adoptions require an approved adoption application.
Ways to Help: There are lots of ways to support Woodford Humane, even if you’re not ready to adopt a pet! The biggest one is to get your current pets spayed or neutered – particularly in the midst of a dog overpopulation crisis, every litter prevented is a big deal and every pet fixed makes a big difference. Woodford Humane Society runs entirely on private donations and receives no government funding at any level, so monetary and item donations are a great way to help keep us running. 💙 Saved By Fate Dog Rescue 💙
"Saved By Fate Dog Rescue was founded to be a community resource for Kentucky animal shelters and residents. We see two possible solutions to help alleviate the dog overpopulation issue: Maximize the number of dogs pulled from Kentucky animal shelters into our foster homes and provide spay and neuter resources to Kentucky residents who cannot afford to do so on their own.
Our primary objective is to reduce the need for Kentucky animal shelters to euthanize dogs by specializing in pulling dogs at high risk before they are euthanized. Bully breeds, specifically pit bull type dogs, hold a special place in the hearts of the SBF founders and will be prioritized by our Intake Team.
In an effort to break the cycle of more dogs ending up in shelters, Saved By Fate offers a completely free Spay & Neuter Assistance Program to Kentucky residents. At the end of 2023, we started to extend our S&N assistance to our rural KY animal shelter partners in need of additional resources as to avoid dogs being adopted out unaltered.
