Please care for your furbabies this winter. Here are some tips how. -Shelter
If you leave your dog outside, provide a draft-free shelter that's large enough for them to stand and turn around in, but small enough to retain body heat. Insulate the shelter with straw or other bedding material, and face the entrance away from the wind and snow.
-Temperature
A general rule of thumb is that if it's too cold for you, it's probably too cold for your dog. You should not leave your dog outside when temperatures are at or below 32°F. Dogs are at risk for hypothermia if exposed to temperatures of 20°F or less.
-Signs of being too cold
Signs that your dog might be too cold include:
Shaking or shivering
Hunched posture with a tucked tail
Whining or barking
Change in behavior, like seeming anxious or uncomfortable
Reluctance to keep walking or tries to turn around
Seeks places for shelter
Holds paws up off the ground
-Coat and skin
Keep your dog's coat longer in winter for warmth. If your dog is short-haired, consider getting a coat or sweater for them. To avoid dry skin, keep pet bathing to a minimum when it's cold. If your pet needs a bath, use a moisturizing shampoo.
-Water intake
Offer lukewarm water in their bowl to entice them to drink more, especially if they're coming in from the cold.

Walking your dog in the beauty of Autumn is always a treat both both you and your pet. Quick tip: Avoid wet leaves. Wet leaves can harbor bacteria and mold, and they can hide infected slugs and snails that can make your dog sick.
