Dr. Turner is a partner in Turner Wilson Equine Consulting in Stillwater, Minn. He retired from private practice in December 2023 after concentrating exclusively on equine sports medicine, lameness and surgery at his Turner Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery. He was one of the pioneers in using thermal imaging for assessment of equine musculoskeletal and welfare issues.

Dr. Turner is the current AAEP President-elect and will assume the duties of President at the AAEP annual meeting in December 2024.

Some science behind PEMF and how it will help you and your beloved pets!!

🔹A recent randomized, sham-controlled study evaluated the effects of a targeted PEMF device (high frequency) therapy in dogs with acute intervertebral disc extrusion and paraplegia being treated with spinal decompression surgery. Targeted PEMF treatment was applied for 15 min every 2 h for two weeks then twice daily for four weeks. Treated dogs exhibited significant reductions in surgical incision site pain, lower concentrations of inflammatory biomarkers, and improved proprioceptive function compared to controls (Zidan et al., 2018).

🔹A non-targeted PEMF device (low frequency) was found to lessen clinical signs of osteoarthritis in dogs after 20 18-minute treatments (Pinna et al., 2012)

YES 🙌. HERO PEMF is for dogs too.

Thermal Imaging to identify areas of concern and determine efficacy of treatment modalities.

We provided a 15 min session using the HERO PEMF therapy for Cooper who had knee issues. We waited approx 20minutes after the session and took new thermal images.

The results are clear. Thermal signature reduced from 87.5° on two locations on the knee to 82 at the and 85°.

* 2° difference is clinically significant.
