🎄✨ It’s that time of year—everyone is putting up their Christmas trees and decking the halls! While you're making your home festive and cozy, here’s an important reminder for pet parents:

🌨️ **Beware of flocked Christmas trees!**
The “snowy” coating may look magical, but flocking can be harmful if chewed or ingested by curious pets.

🚫 **Why it’s risky:**
• Flocking can irritate the GI tract
• Large amounts may cause blockages
• Chemicals in some flocking products may be toxic

🔍 **Signs your pet may have ingested flocking:**
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Drooling or pawing at the mouth
• Lethargy
• Decreased appetite
• Signs of abdominal discomfort
• Trouble pooping or straining (possible obstruction)

❤️ **Keep your holidays merry AND safe:**
If you notice any of these symptoms or think your pet may have eaten flocking, contact your veterinarian right away.

🦃🍁 Keep Your Pets Safe This Thanksgiving! 🍁🦃

The holidays are full of love, laughter, and great food — but they can also bring hidden dangers for our pets. Many traditional Thanksgiving dishes can lead to serious health issues like pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) or intestinal obstructions.

Just like the image below shows 👇, be sure to keep these foods away from your pets:
🚫 Garlic & onions
🚫 Xylitol (found in sugar-free desserts)
🚫 Grapes & raisins
🚫 Chocolate
🚫 Cooked bones
🚫 Nutmeg, sage, scallions, and alcohol

🍗 Fatty foods and turkey skin can also trigger painful pancreatitis, leading to vomiting, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Even small amounts can cause big problems!

✅ Safe options: Offer plain, unseasoned turkey meat or steamed veggies like carrots, pumpkin, or green beans.

If your pet gets into something they shouldn’t or starts showing signs of illness, contact us or an emergency clinic right away.

🩸 National Canine Lymphoma Awareness Day 🩸

Today, we’re bringing attention to lymphoma. Over the past year, our team has noticed an increase in lymphoma cases among our patients — which is why early awareness and proactive care are so important.

🐾 Signs to watch for may include:
🔹 🐕 Swollen lymph nodes (under the jaw, behind the knees, or in front of the shoulders)
🔹 🍽️ Decreased appetite or weight loss
🔹 😴 Lethargy or weakness
🔹 🤢 Vomiting or diarrhea
🔹 💧 Increased thirst or urination
🔹 🫁 Difficulty breathing or coughing

🧪 Diagnostics we recommend:
🔬 Comprehensive physical exam and lymph node evaluation
💉 Bloodwork and urinalysis
🧫 Fine needle aspiration or biopsy (if enlarged lymph nodes are found)
🩻 Imaging such as X-rays or ultrasound to check for internal involvement

While a lymphoma diagnosis can be scary, early detection gives pets the best chance for effective treatment and improved quality of life. We have a sweet senior lady looking for a cozy place to call her own! 💕

This 16-year-old kitty may be a little hard of hearing, but she’s otherwise healthy, spayed, and up to date on all her vaccines. She still has plenty of love to give and would make a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a calm, gentle soul.

This Halloween, remember that the spooky season can be tricky for our furry friends! 🐾 While you enjoy the treats, here are some important tips to keep your pets safe tonight:

🍬 Candy is a no-go! Chocolate, xylitol, and other sweets can be very dangerous for pets.
🧡 Costumes with caution: Make sure costumes are comfortable, non-restrictive, and don’t have small parts your pet could swallow.
🚪 Keep pets safe: Busy doorways and trick-or-treaters can stress some animals. Consider keeping pets in a quiet room with their favorite toys.
🎃 Decor beware: Candles and small decorations can be hazards. Stick to flameless lights and avoid anything your pet can chew.
