Thanksgiving brings together family and friends, but it can also carry some hazards for pets. Know which common Thanksgiving treats to avoid giving your pet to skip
unwelcome trips to the emergency room:

Turkey skin and bones
garlic/onion (stuffing, casseroles)
grapes/raisins (salads, breads)
milk/dairy (mashed potatoes)
macadamia nuts & walnuts
chocolate & sugary desserts
alcohol, coffee & tea

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and so are holiday parties with tabletops and counters full of food. Be sure to keep these most common holiday foods out of your pet's reach as they can cause some life-threatening issues.

Have a safe Halloween. Whether your pet is going out trick or treating or staying at home, be sure to check their ID tags and make sure everything is current! Consider putting your pet in a quiet, closed room to avoid a mishap of them running out an open door.

As we finish Vet Tech Appreciation Week, our weekend staff was treated to a muffin and juice bar, Dickey’s BBQ and a Burger bar from Red Robin.

Thanks to Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists and PetVet Care Centers for supporting our entire team who give 110% around the clock to care for the pets of Central Kentucky.

We love our Vet Techs!!

Meet Suzanne, our Integrative Medicine Technician and Inventory Manager. Born in Dover, NJ she grew up here in Lexington, earning her BS in Animal Science at the University of Kentucky. Suzanne’s career has included working in general practice, as a technician for a mobile equine/small animal radiologist and at a local hay & grain company. This August marked her 30th year in veterinary medicine.

Suzanne lives with her Pitbull, Espi and Tres Cat an Australian Shepherd.

Outside of BVS she enjoys cooking and baking, spending time with family, attending concerts and music festivals and traveling.

Suzanne continues to advance her career through learning and is currently enrolled in Fear Free Veterinary Certification and in the Infection Prevention Leader Certificate Program. She has completed the Safety & Training Program by the Hyperbaric Veterinary Institute and the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Animals Training Course, as well as FEMA's Animals in Disaster.

We love our Vet Techs!!

Meet Kelli, she is from Wilmore, KY. She began her vet med career working in general practice and joined BVS as an ER Tech in June 2020.

Kelli lives with her fiancé and his sons Jonah and Jude. They have
2 pugs- Bogie and Biscuit, 1 Aussie- Harley, and a red morph bearded dragon- Rush.

Outside of work, Kelli enjoys being with her family, fishing, hiking, rock hounding, concerts, and watching sunsets.
