Fellow parents: one thing that I have noticed as a mom of two young children (especially during the holidays) is that it is HARD to juggle it all.

If you're like me you, you struggle to ask for help. You like being seen as the one that can do it all. That can carry it all. But can we be REAL for a moment?

We are all on the struggle bus sometimes. Maybe we wear it well. Or, perhaps the mess shows. Either way - I FEEL you.

The FARM 1780 was created to be a place where you could disconnect from demands of modern life.

And this holiday season, we decided to put energy into events that give you a break.

We all want our kids to experience the magic of Christmas. And I know it’s hard to feel that magic yourself when it seems your hair is on fire. So - let us help! We’re offering some unique and affordable ways to support you and spread holiday cheer this season! We look forward to seeing you & your kiddos on the farm. And we’re hopeful you get a break this season!

We are excited to host fresh mountain grown Frasier Fir Christmas Trees, wreaths, and garland directly from several small North Carolina farmers at The FARM 1780 for the holiday season.

We know first hand how devastating 2024 has been for small farmers across the Carolinas. These are tough, hard working folks who will not readily ask for help, so we will ask on their behalf. Please come support their hard work this holiday season.

Farmer Flash was asked at Career Café by a 5th grade student what his favorite part of farming was.

His answer: “Seeing students like you engaged and surprised by all the parts of farming. Like how the Dutch Fork pumpkin’s origins date back 600+ years!”

Farmer Flash also told the students how important it was for them to be curious learners. “Soak in as much information about as many different topics as you can. That will serve you well no matter what career path you choose.”

It was a welcomed break from storm cleanup & we appreciate Mrs Geis & Mrs Silvia for welcoming us yesterday morning. Sharing the history of The FARM and the importance of local food systems with the youngest generations truly is THE BEST part of our job!

Status update from

It may seem silly to some but we put the front gate back together and decorated it today. Driving up to the farm the past three days has been a gut punch. Hoping this little sense of normalcy will help our spirits as we continue to tackle the monster ahead of us.

Until Monday, work on the farm has come to a stopping point. Monday we will get a chipper and the cleanup will continue. If you want to volunteer we will be on-site all day Monday.

Wednesday comes to address the farmhouse roof and put a game-plan in place there.

Thursday, our first insurance adjuster comes and we will have more of a understanding as to what we can and can’t do to begin rebuilding the barns, chicken housing, event space, and crop damage options.

We ARE opening the FARMstand and FARMstand bar effective Monday starting with regular hours:

Weekdays 2-6
Saturdays 10-4

We have pre-picked pumpkins for sale, popcorn, cornstalks and a few watermelon. We will check the water retention in the patch and will open it as soon as it dries out. No u-pick flowers are available at this time.

Your support means more than we can put into words. And we would love to see you on The FARM for some normalcy.

Opening may not be the right decision but we had to make a decision on how to move forward. So if you disagree with us, we understand. But we must drive our business forward for not only financial need (for not only ourselves but our staff) but for our mental health. We can’t just sit around and see everything we have worked so hard to build over the last five years in shambles.

I (McKenzie) am taking on the herculean task of communicating with customers who had tickets to the harvest dinner & harvest festival as well as all the vendors. Please be patient with me. I PROMISE, I will get to you!

U-PICK BERRIES

Alright Lexington - we have to make some changes to our u-pick plans. You showed up this last week and we are EXTREMELY thankful that you all choose to support local. U-Pick is an agricultural product that is very much dependent on a variety of factors. And once berries are picked, the plants need time to produce more berries and ensure their continued health for years to come. As a small, family farm we need to limit the volume of people who are going to be picking at any one time. (We sold out of berries in the first hour last weekend) So, for the immediate future all u-pick will be available ONLY to members and for private events/field trips. As the season progresses, we’ll revisit opening u-pick to non-members but we cannot make any guarantees right now. There are only 35 memberships for the season left. Advanced parking is $25 per vehicle. Day of parking is $30 (and remember, members get in free and you can share your guest passes for free entry as well!)
