We are home from our family vacation at the beach, which is always fabulous. But what a terrific weekend we had before that at the Speedway Classic of the Carolinas dog shows in Concord, NC and at the Palmetto Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club specialty. Steve Costantino came down from upstate NY for the shows, bringing "Mariah" GCHS Trifecta Sunshine in My Pocket at Maiella and her young son, "Clark" Trifecta Sunshine Superman at Maiella. Of course, Steve couldn't leave Wyatt" (CH Trifecta Maiella's Wynning Performance) behind! Wyatt is his third (actually, his first!) Trifecta Corgi and was there to cheer on CLark and Mariah. We had such a wonderful weekend together, with Teresa Tipton and Vicki Northway there, too, it felt like 'old times' and was lots of fun. What is amazing is that I showed them both myself - which I hadn't done in forever - and keeping up with Clark and Mariah when they move out is not an easy thing for me to do. Mariah is a beautiful Corgi who had been shown off and on throughout 2023, earning her Silver Grand Champion title, beautifully handled by Karen Mammano. Mariah was bred to her grandsire, AU CH Trehilyn Dont Hold Back, ROMX, my beloved Torrin, whom I tragically lost in June of last year. This was my first litter using frozen semen - and it worked!! Steve and I are co-owners of these dogs and now co-breeders, too . He wisely chose Clark as his pick puppy, and I held on to two of the girls Kimmi and Gigi. Clark is an amazing pup - shown in the 6-9 month puppy class at 8 months of age, he went Winners Dog 3 of the four days he was shown (including at the specialty!) - and went Reserve Winners Dog on the second day (the day he acted like the puppy he is, but as if he had never been on a lead before). He accrued 10 points toward his championship, which included two four-point majors! He came in with two points he won at his first two shows a few weeks before, so all he needs to finish is 3 single points!!
Mariah made us proud by taking Best of Opposite S*x (BOS) on day 1 and at the Specialty and going Best of Breed (BOB) on day 2 and Select B***h on day 3. I will put up photos as soon as I get them.
